Do you use FF? If so what add-ons do you have and why do you prefer it to your other choices? If you don't why not?

I use it because I was tired of IE being suck a crap bag that was about as useful as a screen door on a sub. I have Adblock plus, Foxytunes, NoScript, KeyScrambler, Facebook Toolbar, and Answers.

You can find it here
Triforceelf
Wait, there are decent browsers OTHER then fire fox?
Crazy_fish
I use Fire Fox, and i love it!
The tabs are really useful, as well as spell checker.
The only add-on i have is the download bar, rather than window. Convenient!
The Obfuscated One
Yes.

Safari and a couple of others.

EDIT: that was in response to triforce.

Also, Firefox, while outwardly useful, is a seething pit which drains all RAM from your system.
Triforceelf
HA! Foolish mac user! The power of the evil empire will consume you!

I have never used a mac, and really have never had any need to, so I dunno how safari runs.
The Obfuscated One
It runs fairly well, actually. I haven't found any sites which provide plugins, but I haven't gone looking either, and it comes with a built in spellcheck, and it allows tabbed browsing as well as RSS bookmarks, plus it doesn't do anything funky to your memory space.
Hunter
Well I have Facebook and Torrentspy plug ins from their sites.
BloodyPiper
I use Firefox for a combination of reasons. For one my computer is a bitch and wont load IE or any other program.

Cant stand IE or Netscape or any of them.

God damned Macs
Garbage Gnome
Safari I love. I use it on my MacBook.

Also a fan of IE used it way back when. Never had a problem with it. Don't understand the hate.
Hunter
I have been indoctrinated to hate Mac, I just do there is no reason behind it, IE is full of holes that hackers get through with little problem.
The Lone David
Hunter, have you ever tried a Mac? If not then I would suggest at least an attempt at it before dismissing it.
Hunter
I have from Mac II to the newer ones, they work good I just don't like how they work compared to windows, but none of them had the Windows OX thing that lets you have windows on your mac.
Garbage Gnome
Love the Macs. Nothing is wrong with a Mac. Hell it can even run WINDOWS so that you can play your video games. AS WELL as OSX at the same time. So yes, far superior.
The Lone David
Gnome, don't say superior, I don't want to deal with another mac vs pc fight today.
They're not superior, just built for different things.

Agree'd, I almost lost a friend yesterday because she gets too emotional when debating. But Firefox does run on Windows, Linux, and OSX
The Lone David
Firefox may run on OSX but I'm too lazy to go through the process of getting it when Safari works just fine.
Garbage Gnome
I don't really trust FireFox. It's intimidating. As for superiority. I'll hold my peace for now, but I have a hammer that I'm not afraid to use.
Hunter
I wasn't sure about FF when I first tried it myself but after I got a handle on it and got some good plug ins I love it and have no problem with ads or pop ups.
The Obfuscated One
Oh, the trouble with it is not ads or popups, but with memory leaks.
Robomanjr
I use FF i just have a skin for it thats all.
Mixairian
Add-ons. All you need is ad-block.
Andrea C.
Yes, I do use Firefox and I'm loving it: runs way faster than IE, has tabs (most useful thing ever), a research bar (much smaller and more versatile than the google toolbar), a very functional ad-block and handles transparencies much better.

Safari I've tried on my Macs and is fine, though not as good as Firefox imho. Does it even have tabs? If yes, how do I open a new one?
Jaezelle
I had firefox on a computer once.... It was nice. I would have it on my current computers, but I've just been too lazy to d/l and install it(lazy, computers... I know, it doesn't make sense...)

And the mac vs pc thing... eh. I'm biased to pc cause it's what I've grown up around and with, but I have worked with macs and they do their job good enough. I got to work with a linux once.... that was an experience o.O
Robomanjr
The Mac vs PC fights just an idiotic fight between fanboys Macs have their specialties and so does PC. Its just a petty argument over people with no lives.

Depends on which distro you use. Ubuntu is very intuitive and easy to use, but something like Gentoo could traumatize the shit out of someone who isn't a power user. I've used nothing but Firefox for years, but I hear that Opera isn't half bad.
Mixairian
I forgot to mention the use of the add on Faster Fox. It greatly increases speed and performance of Firefox on dated machines and helps a little on newer ones.
EddieTheLightbringer
I use FireFox because it runs faster and more securely than IE, it also has a larger area of view and had tabbed browsing before IE did. In my accounting class I heard a lot of people saying that they were having problems with Safari, but they didn't have those problems with FireFox. These are the addons I use.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/770
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
http://toolbar.imageshack.us/

FasterFox and NoScript are used to boost performance, LeetKey is used for translation to and from Binary, and I only use IE Tab because I sometimes test pages for a web designer friend of mine. I'm also going though the translators to try to find one I like.

The ImageShack toolbar comes in handy when you do a lot of image uploading to Imageshack.

Command + T
Triforceelf
Add ons are for people who care and have time.

I love firefox, have used it for 3 years I think, and have never gone back to IE except when I couldnt use firefox. Mostly because I tested it one day, and found that after running around on the internet for an hour on firefox, then going to the same places with IE *the new one* I suddenly had a virus! And for that I have a hat with Tux on it... becuase Linux rules *I use Ubuntu, at least on the computer that doesn't have WoW on it...*
Triforceelf
How does Linux work? I have heard its a very good OS, but why?
Memnarch
Becuase if you know how to use it, it is much faster than Windows, and it is much much much really more stable than Windows... *i have never used a mac...* Also... it is free... and can do more things than windows... except of course, play windows games.. becuase they are not made for linux... but the is a Windows Emulator that can do that, but i think its like $150, which kinda sucks...
Andrea C.
What with drivers? Most sound and video cards have highly optimized drivers for Windows and some sucky strings of code for Linux (or nothing at all)... That's been a major turn off for me when I approached Linux (which remains a better OS than Windows, as far as my tests are concerned).

Don't have Firefox, I still use IE. Cause it does great, no problems, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And a Mac? How cute! Does you're 9-year old girlfriend know you have her toy?
(Sorry, had to say it. I'll shush now)
Mac Chick
I prefer to use Safari and on the odd occasion I have used Camindo for a change in scenery.

I did trial Firefox on my mac but didn't like the way it ran.

Ok, if your using IE, you cannot insult anyone else. Your using a browser that welcomes spyware in with open arms and a gift basket.

Don't forget it tells the hackers the best way to get you through Outlook too!
Triforceelf
Plus it advertises your IP, so all those evil porn companies can infect your PC with things you do NOT want your girl friend to see. (I swear thats how it got there!)
Arsis
I use firefox and I love it. No add-ons thought, I do fine without them. Is thunderbird or whatever the e-mail app from mozilla is called working now? I used to use it a few years back and one day it just stopped working.

Thunderbird works fine, its what I use. I use FF at home, I like the ability to set up different combinations of addons to get it to do just what I want. My work computer has IE, which works fine as well. The main reason I use FF is because I can personalize it more.
Jabba
Heh, i remember when firefox sucked worse than.. *insert mental image here* ..now its getting pretty good, i hear in the download stakes its starting to rival opera... but honestly, nothing beats opera imho, not because its the best, but because it has stupidly fast download speeds and the whole image blocking thing, now THAT is cool.

Though i will say some of the add-ons for firefox are wicked sick, example: foxyproxy, key scrambeler and Adblock, damn useful.
Hunter
??? Firefox is third on the list of most used browsers, first is IE7 and second is IE6 and thats only because they are packed onto windows and people don't know whats better for them.
Jabba
i really have to start reading news posts again =\ sorry my last post was very badly flawed..
.. and i hold my statement that opera is kickass
:D:D

Opera is kickass, but I use firefox.
I only use opera if'n I'm gonna go memory scan some crap.
Hunter
Well if I had access to the DS Opera I would get it, basically anything but IE
Jabba
Internet explorer is not the worst browser on the market, THAT honour is saved and held for AOL alone, i swear it loads backwards! and doesnt display images just because its awkward
Hunter
AH! we shouldn't speak of such evil it may find us and destroy the forum.
spyderjaxon
Spyder- sad.gif now, I feel so bad....I use AOL...I reject your scorn! I will not hear it! .....Man, my internet sucks... sad.gif
Hunter
Spyder, if you can switch to Firefox *doesn't know how AOL works besides poorly* you should, your computer will thank you.
Jabba
its easy, type in "bypassing aol" in google
