With the upcoming movie (which is going to rock unbelievably) I just wondered where our transformers fans are in here. I started watching (and loving) transformers back during the first season of beast wars, when Dinobot was kickin ass and takin names. That and megatron was a T-Rex. How cool is that? I have loved transformers since and had at one point so many toys that I could have taken on Unicron, easy.

I've been watching the show since birth dammit.

Hey, these Transformers are more than meets that eye because they are robots in disguise. I'm a big fan but rewatching the cartoon reminded me that somethings are better in the past and should be open to new versions.

No. Optimus Prime is Jesus. Died in the movie and then came back in the next season. No one liked the porn star (Rodimus Prime) anyway.

Well I first watched the movie about 2 years ago, I didn't cry so much as wonder when Star Scream was going to take over.

Rodimus was a freeking pretender. Hot Rod was cool as is, as Rodimus he was just a pompus ass.

Incidentally, Star Scream > everyone.

It's a shame that Star Scream became such a chump character in Beast Wars.

Optimus Prime is my hero he is so awesome. I used to watch the cartoons just don't seem to find the time anymore.

Sadly, I only ever got into Beast Wars.
Transformers is a solid idea, but I couldn't stand the writing.

That is part of what made it so awesome.

Rhinox was always my favorite Beast Machine with the dual gattling guns.

I like Transformers, (I still play with the toys), but i reckon that the movie will be well made, but fairly bad, as a movie.

I was too busy crying that Omega Supreme wasn't in the movie. I would have loved to see him have a huge fight with Devastator.

Such a wonderfully bad series/movie. I love it like I love Red Bull.

Red Bull may give you wings, but transformers give you an awsome pet/rid and a kickass robot!

See this is the problem about kids today. They haven't seen any TV shows before 1990 but use catch phrases that were popular from the early 80s.

It is sad, kids these days have no appreciation of a good story if there is something else that has new CGI or all the other kids like it. When I was younger I watched Transformers as a repeat same with a lot of other shows. I figure now that it doesn't matter what it looks like, how old it is, or if it is domestic or foreign, a good story is a good story. The worst though is when it is a show from the 90's that they should know about.

You know, a really good show from way back when was Voltron.
I still watch Voltron when I can catch it, But I cant find any decent Transformers anymore.

I've watched one Voltron (the edited version) and when I seen the new one that was CGI I though that something unholy had invaded my TV. I've downloaded the Transformers cartoon, I love how corny the duologue was.

The old Voltron was awesome. It airs insanely early in the morning on Adult Swim if that helps any. Transformers was still better in my opinion

I never really enjoyed Voltron. If I had to pick another show that I loved as much as transformers it would have to be Robotech.

You know, one of the only anime shows I enjoyed was Metabots. The thought of having a private battle bot was very appealing. Especially one with guns.

Awesome show, the only thing is how little action there is per episode, (Like DBZ) but when there is action, there is ACTION!!

I too dislike that show. Though not for the ridiculous clothing for ninja, which actually hadn't clicked until now. I dislike it for its poor plot. The awful dubbing makes it much much worse. I try to stick with the rare and elusive good anime.

By rare and elusive, I presume you are like me and thought one or two might be decent. (Metabots was good and one or two others whos names escape me)

But for an anime to be good it must:

Not contain long periods of grunting and sweating (DBZ)

Feature cards as a method of doing battle (Plenty)

Have dumb plot devices (most of them)

Contain giant cloaking mechs (Escaflowne thingy and several gundam ones)

Have no proxy monsters that do battle (Pokemon, Digimon) (Metabots is an exception)

Have long boring convoluted plot lines (quite a few)



So basically, I like ones like transformers: big robots (or even small ones) that kick ass, take names and do cool stuff.

Star Scream is a plus.

I like quite a few Anime actually. However, I agree with you on almost all points.
Mecha is ALWAYS a plus even when it's ridiculous.
It's hard to get a away from convoluted plot when it comes to anime. Though sometimes the plot is so bad it's worth watching.
DBZ is horrible.
Pokemon and Digimon were funny sometimes bacause of their extreme awful-ness.
Every card battle esque show I have seen was bad.
I have never seen of heard of Meta-Medabots.
You should check out the Megaman anime for a laugh.

Megaman was sadly never made into a good TV show. Because the games PWN!

The games are extremely awesome as long as we exclude the battle network series.

Battle network is to megaman what the philips games are to Zelda.

At least the Phillips games were hysterical. The battle network games just make me sad inside.

Lol The phillups games were some of the worst ever.
