Since there is a huge list of actors people have suggested for Richard I wonder who you think that Cale would sound like.

I'd probably be shot and then shot again if i suggested orlando bloom wouldn't i? i don't know why, but for Cale i always kind of imagine my friend nick's voice. probably because he sounds quite allot like the WoW blood elves but with a much nicer accent.

I think Cale would have a sort of high pitche dmusical sort of voice with a very (VERY) slight british accent, like he lived there for a little then moved away so it didn't have time to fully take to him.

Apr 19 2007, 08:20 PM
What is with people and british accents? Not every fantasy character needs one you know...
Anyway I kind of agree with the Orlando Bloom suggestion, Hell Cale looks enough like Legolas to make it work.
Or possibly Dane Cook...

People choose British accents because they sound cool a lot of the time, lol
Hunter
Apr 19 2007, 08:30 PM
British accent... hell no, he also needs a neutral accent, Benny would be good with an (non british) accent, maybe Krunch too. Dane Cook would be good, maybe Ryan Renolds sans sarcastic remarks.

How about Ewan MacGregor? He'd be a great voice for Cale.
The Lone David
Apr 19 2007, 09:00 PM
Possibly, however I dont really see him screaming "Tim! Save your chicken!" at the top of his lungs.
Gerard Butler though... He'd scream anything you wanted him to.

Matthew Broderick? Mmm... Yeah, I can see that... Or hear it, rather.

Mathew Broderick voiced Older Simba? No wonder it sounded so inappropriate. His is more of an inventive and plotting voice, but childlike. In fact, if there's a scene where we see Richard as a child, I'd reccomend him.
However, the Orlando Bloom idea for Cale is a pretty good candidate.

Cale sounds like Aaron Barrett, the lead singer of Reel Big Fish.

Cary Elwis maybe. (Westley from Princess Bride) I dunno, is that too manly for Cale?
Rae-Rae =^.^=
Apr 20 2007, 04:42 AM
Yes, yes it is.
Speaking of Princess Bride, I think Fezzik with Inigo's inflections and accent would make a decent Krunch.

i wasn't serouse about Orlando Bloom O.O though i guess his voice would work seeing he play a very decent elf in LOTR. i just can't see him pulling Cale off very well. his voice is just too soft, good for the roll of legolas but sucks at the roll of will turner. he wouldn't be able to do Cale. now Johny depp on the other hand.... well he might be a good cale but i think he might be a better richard.

Apr 20 2007, 01:28 PM
Hmmm... No, I don't think Orlando Bloom would be good as Cale, because then everyone would think "Legolas." And Legolas he ain't. Maybe Hugh Jackman? Doing his role from Kate and Leopold?
Dammit. Why can't I think of any actors' names when I need them???

Have you seen "Flushed Away?" Jackman did an excellent job making uh...what's his name? The main character sound "young and naive."

I don't know if I'm the only one, but the relationship between Will Turner and Jack Sparrow always makes me think of Cale and Richard. The way Jack responds to Will's naive sense of nobility combined with Jack's cheerful hedonism, I can't help but be reminded of them.

Actually Justin Long would be good, I remember in the Die Hard trailer him asking Willis if he did that sort of thing better.

Y'know, somehow I kinda imagine that Cale would have the steriotypical deep, bold hero voice. It would make his incompetance and tendancy to say silly or cute fuzzy things all the funnier. On the other hand, if he had the typical upper range nasal/evil snob voice (his species is evil right?) it would really be interesting. I mean, just because he's apparently overcome his nature doesn't necessarily mean his voice has.

Zack Braff (JD from Scrubs) he does a young and naive doctor extremely well, so why not a young and naive elf too?

Heck, y'know if you wanted to have some fun with it you could cast the whole group with the cast of scrubs- JD as Cale, Kelso as Richard (Or hey, maybe Janitor) Carla as Benny, and Cox as Krunch. Could be fun!

Couldn't it?

Close, But it would be Turk as Richard, even though Cale doesn't like it, they are "best friends".
Or in Cale's case, the most readily available soft object to throw in front of a charging rhino.

I'm thinking a fairly neutral accent, but considering I'm from the UK I mean a relatively British one I guess. Anyone ever play Baldur's Gate? Theres a "heroic" male voice that reminds me of how Cale might speak, especially when he's introducing himself in the first strip...

I like Mathhew Broderick... which I believe was the Older Simba in the first Lion King movie. Johnny Depp sounds too sarcastic to be Cale, too suave to be Richard. Orlando Bloom might work though, he's kinda pansy-esque and his character in the original PotC resembles Cale quite a bit, now that I think about it.

I think Cale would sound like the main character from Dawn of the Dead, the Best Buy T.V. Salesmen i can't remember his name and ive watched that movie upwards of 100 times. Anyways he was calm and unselfish and would risk his life for others but fights with a good intention.

ha ha, perfect! That IS Cale! A whiny little fantasy character who's sexuality is under question!
Although, with the exception of the shriek's arse and Benny's top, there isn't a lot of sexual reference in this comic.
