My PC just died (believe the processor blew out somehow) and now I am stuck on my mac for posting.

(its slower and older)
So my posts will probably halt for a while since it is such a hassle to do webwork on this machine (some wireless glitches with OS X)

i want to make fun of you for using a mac but i just cant... the loss of a processor is not something that should be taken so lightly... send me an invite to the burial

at the same time i can tell you why the mac isnt good on the internets. you see the interent is a sentient being (fat guy in a closet somewhere) and he just doesnt like macintosh computers due to a freak accident when one of them bit off his right hand... crying shame. now whenever he notices one of "your kind" on his internets he reduces bandwith by half in revenge.

You can bribe him with cake or porn, though. I try not to touch the latter, so I just make him cakes.
Luckily for you, sir, it is relatively cheap to replace a processor. Unless the Mobo went with it, in which case I'd start looking at upgrading if I were you. Anytime a part of mine meets a violent end, I always upgrade. It's how my PC stayed in competing shape. lol

As one Mac user to another, I hope the only games you plan on playing on it are WoW and the Sims 2. Of course, by the time I'd bought my mac I'd pretty much converted entirely to console gaming anyway, so... heh.

Because the brand recognition of the PC died when IBM made their technology available to any willing developer. Mac still has a stranglehold.

Pickup Fire. It's an instant messenger that links up to several different services. When AIM started dropping spyware and various programs I never wanted on my PC I jumped ship. I'll still use their service, but I'm never touching their products again.

Just stick with an outdated version of AIM, I have it and I never have any spyware and crap. Plus it's really simple; as it's made for old computers, so it uses almost no memory

Is there anywhere to actually download the older versions, though?

I don't think so. But GAIM handles multiple accounts and services. plus its pretty ram ligt

Feb 4 2007, 11:20 PM
I'm pretty sure there is.... try the main AIM website.
Yeah, I've heard that GAIM is pretty good as well. All I really want is non-tabbed windows and the ability to have chatrooms, so I didn't bother to download it.

I believe you can turn off tabbed chatting
