Ok, i saw Enders Game on his reading list and i've read both it and it's sister book Enders Shadow. I rate shadow much higher, i was just wondering of the general opinion

Ender's Shadow was very good, don't get me wrong. Bean is one of my favorite supporting characters ever. That being said, I prefer the original Ender's Game. Sorry.

Ditto. The main problem Ender's Shadow suffers is that you lose the 'surprise' of Ender's Game (I was young enough that when I read EG I was as clueless as Ender).

The original was the best out of all his books.
The Shadow series totally beats the...pig-alien-tree species...series though.

Again, Shadow series good, Speaker for the Dead/Xenocide = better.

Eh, I read through the Speaker for the Dead/Xenocide series only because I was hoping and praying for a good little tidbit. There were a few, like Ender pwning that kid who tried to crack his gonads, but other than those, it sucked for me. Maybe I should give it a reread...
Thanks for supplying the name, by the way.

You just cant beat the original. Enders Game FTW!

I thought that Speaker for the Dead was just as good as Ender's Shadow, if not better. After reading EG I really wanted to see the little Queen Bugger find a home, and I wanted to follow what happened to Ender and Valentine as they journeyed through the universe. Speaker for the dead gave me that, and I thank it. I thought that Xenocide was a little strange, though good as well.
I agree that the original was the best of the Ender series. I thought that the Maker series was pretty good too, at least as good as the Ender series. Though like many writers, as they move on to the longer, 7 or 8 book series, they start to lose their train of purpose and thought, and Card is no exception.

A little strange? Card was doing some nasty stuff when he wrote that thing. Xenocide was a very, very weird book with all the people swapping bodies and the Piquinoes doing their thing and the bugs doing theres... Yeah it was weird.

I liked Shadow of the Hegemon better than Ender's Shadow, but Ender's Game and Xenocide are my favorites. I just wish Ender had had the balls to kill fake-Peter, and possibly his sister. They were just unnatural, an way to dangerous to let roam around the universe.

I've read all the books in the series, and loved them. I personally think the storyline about Bean is better than all the stuff about Ender in the future, but that's just me.

You know what is even better then Shadows or The Speaker of the Dead? The Call of Earth Series. Those are some really good books.

Those were good, but I think both the original Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow books beat them. Not the rest of the spinoffs, perhaps, but definitely the original two.

After all the killing Ender had to do while he was growing up, he would never kill again.

I know Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide, but did Ender's Shadow get it's own series in a way? Is that even possible with Bean's condition?
Ender's Game is interesting in that it is a little confusing in that I had trouble keeping track of which books went where, I hadn't even thought of Shadow of the Hegemon until just now.

Bean's series followed Peter, rather than Ender, and filled in the gap of what happened immediatly after the Bugger War.

4, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, and Shadow of the Giant. Apparently a fifth is planned, called Shadows in Flight.

That's the last one in the Ender series that I know of. The rest all deal with Bean, Peter, et al.

Bean gets shot off to space with some babies in the latest book in his storyline. Not sure which one that is though, I haven't read any for a while.

But Bean is supposed to die by the age of like 25 or something. Do all these books take place before then?

Whether you follow the Shadow series or the Ender portion, one thing must be kept in mind. Whether you move to Speaker of the Dead or Ender's Shadow, Ender's Game must be read first. I saw someone choose Ender's Game over Shadow because Shadow gives away too much. The whole point is, that it's supposed to be a series. The enjoyable aspect of Shadow is the time line stays relatively consistant and the world that you learned about in Ender's Game stays relatively the same as the story blooms.
In Speaker for the Dead an onward, there is a vast jump between time, history and philosophical ideals that at times makes it awkward to keep up with. At least that's my opinion. As a story, I've appreciated the Shadow series much more.

Not to mention the fact that there is not as much pseudo mystical wackiness in the shadow series. The Shadow is a bit shallower and more enjoyable and way less confusing.
