Here are all the information you need to connect to our IRC channel.
We use the Blitzed network.
Server: irc.blitzed.org Port 7000
Channel: #lfg
PS: Rules apply!
PPS: http://cgiirc.blitzed.org/ for thus of us without mIRC.
The all newbies guide to mIRC (online version)
Please note: This tutorial just brings you online and into the LICD-Channel.
I do not explain any further commands or how the program works.
This is just for newbies who just want to chat and are able to use their own client. (See last paragraph for more info)
At first, get mIRC: http://www.mirc.com/get.html
After that, install it to a directory of your choice.
Launch the mIRC.exe, when the window with the photo appears, ignore it and hit "Continue".
Now, the options-window will appear, looking like this:

Full Name: Type what you want
Email Address: as above
Nick: The Name you want to use on IRC
Alternative: If the above Nick is already taken, mIRC will use this one.
After that, click on "Servers"
Look for "Blitzed" in the Dropdown Box, hit "Connect to Server".
If Blitzed is not on your list, then click on "Add Server" and type in the information shown in the following picture.

Now, mIRC will connect. When it's ready, the favorites-window will appear.
You can type in "#lfg" and click on Join (highlighted in red).
Deactivate the "Pop up favorites on connect" checkbox at the bottom of the window and close it if you like. (highlighted in blue)
I like to the "Enable join on connect" checkbox. (highlighted in red)
I personally think the window is just annoying.

If you accidentally close that window, to join the LFG IRC Channel you just need to type in the following command:
/join #lfg
in the chatbar at the bottom of the program.

Voilá, you did it. The easy basic part ends here. Happy chatting.
For those who want to spend more time on IRC, I can write a small tutorial about more features like:
- highlights
- auto-performed commands at startup
- channel and usermodes and stuff
If anyone wants it, just say it.

For Macintosh users, I've heard lots of good things about Snak. As an IRC client for Macs, I don't have any direct experience with how to set it up to go to the #lfg channel, if anyone wants to PM me, I'll be sure to include the information here. Sending screenshots would be helpful as well.

There are other clients out there that may be worth taking a look into. I'll give you a short list. I'm sure you can find others on your own.

In theory, if you go to licd's irc java client, you can join #LFG by going to the bottom and typing /join #LFG
That will take you to LFG. I tshould create a little tab for LFG

Some basics:
If you hop on IRC and want to register your user-name so that no one else can take it, you might want to use this command: /msg nickserv register (password) (e-mail). You don't need the parentheses and you'll have to supply your own user-name and password, of course. To get the server to recognize you after you've registered, the command is /msg nickserv identify (password). Once you've done that, your user-name will remain yours for 30 days from the last time you identified with the server. It's useful, because if you ever find that you get disconnected from the server and you log back in, but can't get your user-name, you can GHOST yourself. To do so, you type /msg nickserv ghost (username) (password), and the server will release your name and disconnect the other connection. If someone is using your name, this works too, and it will force the other user to change names and you can get yours back.
To change nicknames, you simply use the /nick command. If you wanted to be known as Sooba, you would simply type /nick Sooba.
To emote, that is, to perform an action, use the /me command. (example: /me waves. will show, for example, "Bodhisattva waves.")

Although I'm completely new here, I'd like to suggest a script leniency. It is fine to tell people which books are being read and enjoyed at the moment by someone, so why not music? I use a harmless script. Its sole purpose is to tell people what music I am listening to at that moment, by reporting it in a single line as if I had just typed it myself. Just a thought though

I'm going to blatantly post in here to say this thing is fully of win, and that new people should use it. I'd tell old people to use it, but some of them scare me and will bite off my head. If you need a hand figuring out how to get on, there are various people that you can pm and ask for help from. Most notably Bodhi who has the info in his sig.
Its a good time, even if you just chill and read the retarded stuff a few people say. (coughI'mnotretardedcough!)
We almost always have at least two people in the channel now, reaching around 10 during peek hours. Its a good time as long as you don't expect people to be talking 24/7. All in good fun.
P.S. Bodhi's fan club is selling naked pictures of him on the black market.

My computer's still old, but I put in some more RAM and reloaded everything, so it's running quite nicely (for a 7 year old 755 mHz with 512 RAM, that is).
I may try to use IRC this weekend, then. If I can remember how - I used to be fairly proficient with it but it's all leaked out of my mind over the past few years.

So I just got a working headset that I didn't ask for from my ex-stepdad.. He thought it was broken, but the truth is the earphones were off-balance, making certain sounds faint while others louder, altering everything (it helps you hear the instruments in most music, but you can't hear any voice. an example). Maybe I'll try this irc thing. mehbee.
