Forgive me if this has already been mentioned.
It seems to me that Richard is the only one that realizes he's in an MMORPG. The other three apparently don't have a clue. Richard thinks Cale is putting points in his Delusion Skill on page 2, and after a massive killing spree apparently gangs a level (ding!) on page 28. Considering how much property Richard owns, he may have been playing this MMO for quite a while. Let's just hope he doesn't figure out that he's a character in a video game in a web comic.
Then again, maybe he's evil and insane. In that case he may just be gaining experience and levels in his head. Actually, that would make sense too.

I really think that the gaming references used in the comic are just for our benefit. I think we're just supposed to laugh and not really think about it. That's why the other characters never seem to notice when Richard makes MMORPG jokes. As far as the story is concerned, he never makes them at all.

And entirely possible.
But if it turns out that Richard is being played by a 14 year old skinny white guy, I'm gunna be all kinds of upset.

We all know Richard is that goth in dark clothing that hangs out in the mall with 500 pieces of metal in his body and writes bad poetry. The attention whoring and love of evil just gave it away.

ruined it for ya didnt I?

If we are supposed to laugh, and not think, then how can i enjoy daydreaming about Richard? .. it doesn't make any sense.
But lol.. i have no clue what "think" means anyway. Anyone wanna give me a hint?

The only clear breaking of the 4th wall I see is the page two reference.
I am a WoW player, and honestly, I didn't think of a level gain ding when I read that issue. I thought more of a the final round ding of a bell. After people started commenting on how they like the 'ding' crack, I can see it that way too. But I don't think issue/page 28 is so clearly breaking character, as anachronistic as a boxing bell may be.

a boxing bell would rather be "Ding-Ding", and not only "Ding". thus, they weren't saved by the bell
