I've been suggested books recently, huddled around little place called Forgotten realms (Neverwinter Nights..etc) After reading a few I started to notice some distinct similarities between Cale and Drizzt. Anyone who has read the books notice this either or insight from the comic's creators?
As for similarity, Cale seems more like a dipstick version of Drizzt (or ditzy, anyways)...

No its not a poor rip-off of drizzt. the creator just happened to like mmorpg's and the base of this comic seems to be World of Warcraft. so he chose the annoying bloodelf to create his charrector.
his style of humor is just this way, hes not trying to imitate anyone. see his other comic, at licd.com .

Have you not read ANYTHING sohmer has said? Yes it's based off Warcraft but it will also poke fun at other known things in the fantasy world, including other books and games.

Does it matter? Cale is funny in his own right..

I'm inclined to agree and say yeah, he's poking a bit of fun at Drizzt.
That's not to say I don't love 'em both though.

I think it's been going on for long enough now that even poking fun at poking fun at Drizzt is old hat. Let alone just one poking fun at.
It is somewhat like poking fun at effeminate Final Fantasy heroes or people who use dumbfuck speak.
How in this fast paced world are we still stuck on derision from half a decade ago?

Because there are many people who are just now reading the series? Hi. Not everyone has read those yet you know heh.

Yeah, I only started reading them about a year ago and just finished Hunter's Blades. The second Road of the Patriarch comes out in paperback, it's MINE.
Besides, poking fun at Drizzt never gets old.

I'm a huge DND fan, play a ton of NWN, and even tried reading a few R.A Salvatore books. And I would not disagree in the slightest that there may be some poking towards that goody goody drow Drizzt. Then again, I guess you have to remember that Drizzt is not the first character ever to hate the fact that he was born into an evil race. Or the first character to try to deny his 'fate' by doing opposite of others in his race. It really could be a huge variety of things, but I suppose being based off of a character like Drizzt could be the most prominent.
I mean, every single MMORPG I've ever played, with Drow characters or not, I've seen Drizzt and Drizzt ripoffs, so this very-well could be a little jab at that.

Question, cause I've heard "drow" pronounced differently.
Is it Drow as in Crow or Drow as in Dr-ow (like the injury kinda ow)?

You're horrible, Captain.

According to the almighty Wiki, the answer is both. I'v always pronounced it as rhyming with now.
