i think richard would probably sound like beetle juice from the movie, it sort of fits into his description
either that or blade xD

Hmm..I picture one of the voices used for male undead in WoW. Especially the really raspy one. That way it would be really cute to hear him when he's happy about something. "I know! It's hard to kill just one ^^"

talk? I thought all comic characters could only communicate through word bubbles.
I would say he would sound like your stereotypical zombie moan, or maybe a raspy grind as Luna suggested. After reading the Zombie Survival Guide, just the thought of ghouls speaking gives me the willies.

Ok, back on topic, (since Kay gets pissed if we go off)
I think Richard is black..
Or was black.
Just a hunch.

My guess is he has one of those double-voices. You know, you hear two voices speak at the same time, like a synchronized echo. One of the voices is raspy but the other is deep and guttural.
Only my take on it. I'd really like to hear him sound scary but happy when he's burning and killing

Yes, yes you are.
And I always kinda thought of Mitch Hedburg. Y'know the part where he's imitating Cale when they're trapped under the dragon's claw before Krunch shows up? I always imagined that as Charlie or Eddie Murphy trying to sound girly.
Richard being black doesn't seem too out-of-the-ordinary. He'd be the token black guy.

Richard's voice. Hmm.. A gleeful English one with a mild whiff of snobbyness.
No, no,no, no, not like Hugh Grant, he just sounds as if he has a plugged nose all the time. I want to toss something to his head but that would only result in a broken TV. What's a TV? Don't ask.
Or maybe like Dr. Evil (austin powers) No..
Or... >.>

A
pirate! xD
Here is someone who

Or maybe.... Richard is Captain America arisen from the death!

I know it's weird, but I picture Richard with a James Woods type voice. Probably because of all the snappy comebacks like his character in the show "Shark".

Mar 9 2007, 12:47 AM
Richard with a voice?
...hmmmm..
That is a good question.
He will most definatly have a SLIGHT English accent with a rather gleeful voice when he is happy. Of course, i agree to anyone else who thinks he actually HAS a voice. Although he is dead (or UNdead, if i might say), I really think he sounds like a zombie in his mid-30's... with a little twist of scratch.
I don't know.. that's my opinion. Either way, it's got to be
attractive...!!

I hadn't considered Alan Rickman ((!), I know), but I can certainly see it. He's quite good at the whole dark deadpan thing, and he's a great "go-to" guy for all your menacing needs. He certainly has range enough for Richard's more plaintive moments, too. Personally, I've been imagining either something along the lines of Max von Sydow or Jeremy Irons, myself, though the former may simply be a side-effect of watching "Flash Gordon" a little too often of late....
A thin, reedy sort of adolecent voice would be terribly amusing, at least as far as the humor factor of it goes, but I suspect he's probably a little too mature for that sort of thing.
Weird, brain-twisty thoughst: Barry White? David Spade, perhaps? Actually, I heard something very like David Spade in my head as I read the trapped-under-dragon-claw bit.

Oh yeah... forgot the Alan Rickman idea. That's definitely a good idea. We have to make a poll of this soon.

George Takei reminds me of the Heroes series. But Richard with a japanese accent doesn't seem right. There's some Japanese exhcange students coming to my school on Monday, I'll say if anything sound Richard-esque.

I vote for Christopher Walken
Rae-Rae =^.^=
Mar 11 2007, 11:39 PM
Christoper Walken is cool, and perhaps the only being who has a chance of giving Richard a fight for his money.
However, he seems too... placid, in my opinion, to sound like Richard. Walken has that kinda-creepy, kinda-cool tone to his voice. The kind that makes you think he knows exactly that's going on and you better stay on his good side before ge reveals that he's in charge of everything and makes you regret taking his Jelly Bellies last month.
Ballscratch
Mar 13 2007, 02:46 PM
No, Walken. Just No. Whilst evil, sexy and sensual in his own right, his is not the voice of Richard.
I stick with Ben Affleck. Since it was mentioned, I can't shake that voice whenever I read his words.

Whenever I read richard's lines in the comic, I can't help but read them aloud. If I didn't have laryngitis (the gift that keeps giving and giving; especially if you can reach your enemies) and if it wasnt 1:08 am, I might make some recordings, see what you guys think. Actually, If everyone that thinks they can do a good richard voice were to post (or a link to it), we could run a vote and see who does the best richard voice.

Hmm, I imagine Richard as having a sort of sarcastic, whiny, attention-seeking voice, with the echo thing. And a "yea, whatever" accent.

Just because I'm feeling like posting:
- Alan Rickman - Snape in Harry Potter... better yet, Hans Gruber in Die Hard.
- Gary Oldman - Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula... better yet, Stansfield in Leon, The Professional.
- Christopher Walken - your pick! He's always CHRISTOPHER WALKEN... but one where he plays a bad guy, for sure.
- Ian McDiarmid - The Emperor in Return of The Jedi... don't mention the prequels to me, please.
