But I do need help a bit.

I'm not entirely new to FFXI, but I don't know everything about it.

First of all, I'd like to be a White Mage.

I know Tarus have a lot of MP, but I heard a Elf is actually a better White Mage...But don't they have less MP?

Secondly, I was wondering if A summoner would be a good sub job for a White mage.
Can I use my little Carbuncle while having White mage as a main?

If not, then what's the use of being a sub Summoner...

What other sub is good for white mage?
I'm guessing I'll be a Bard if Summoner isn't good fo white mages.

And in any case, is a Taru the best idea for this type of play?
I ask this here and now because I can't check it (it being online guides and stuff at home or at work...I can only play it on my 360)

PS: What Skills are Tarus good at (Woodworking, Cooking, Smith, goldsmith, etc...)

Are elves better white mages and why?

Well the only reasons I can see for that being is because they have a couple more hit points and are more agile, so you'd last longer then a little taru.

Summoner/White mage is normally the prefered combo and most popular for those that take the route of white mage. As for having the ability to use Carbuncle with white mage as a main job, I don't think that is possible. Can't exactly tell you why since it's been sometime since I played FFXI.

All in all Taru are the most prefered because they do have so much MP, means less down time and chances of you getting in that much needed heal.

But honestly, when it comes down to it. It's all personal preference... Heck I had a Hume Samurai/warrior back when I played, was appearently not the best race for either of those classes.

I heard that the economies in FFXI were dying and that it was a pain in the arse to get into
a party... Of course, being a white mage is to your advantage because -everyone- wants
a WM in their party.

Tarus have a larger rate of MP growth versus any of the other races.

The long waiting times to get into a party is what caused me to leave FFXI, even when you got into a party it more often than not turned out to be crap or disband after 10 mins.

Well knowing what non combat skills the Tarus are best at...Actually knowing what non combat AND combat skills every ace is good at would be nice.

Except Galka and Mithra...what a waste of polygons....(well....Mithras are sexy)

Speaking of polygons, FFXI was one of the nicest looking MMO's I've ever played. They coded the shiznit out of that to make sure it looked it's best and still ran well over broadband.

Heh, Galka. I still giggle every time I think of that VG Cats strip where the Galka crushes his Chocobo, poor bird. Never stood a chance.
