*Sigh* You really want to start this? The prices on most of the merch on this site are on the higher side. Those of us who save up and purchase some of it aren't OC for buying it, we're supporting the site and the company. So don't talk down to me for supporting something that gives so many of us such a grand measure of enjoyment each week. And if you are going to attack functionallity, where were you when the figurines were being released? Those serve no purpose other than being nice for us to look at, would you like to take a shot at those next? If you don't want to pay for this stuff, fine... you want to post how you won't buy it, good for you... but DO NOT deride the rest of us (especially don't single me out) because we're willing to meet the prices.
Yes, yes, yes... I get the idea that the custom merchandise being sold here is much higher in price than most things of "normal" make. A lot of things being sold today are cranked in price simply because it has a fancy lable (like Air Jordan sneakers) or made to look like someone famous from the arts (be it music, film or graphic novel). And yes, I get the idea that is how those people who make these things get their money... I just was pointing out that I am not a sheep to instantly go out and buy something only for the fact it happens to be in the shape of something/someone I've seen in the media and happen to like.
As for the "lack of functionality" as you call it with miniatures and figurines sold here being in the same vein as the flash drive, you are mistaken. You may believe that figurines hold no purpose other than to "look pretty" but
that is their function... to be admired! They are an intentional knick-knack and thus are not "up for discussion" as you presume they should be. My concern here is when something that is meant to be functional (as with the flash drive) and then only bought for the express purpose as that as the figurines... an overpriced knick-knack.
As well, I've been to many, many conventions and comic/anime shops that sell similarly custom made figurines for roughly the same overpriced costs. Though these are items I don't buy due to the high cost, they are ALL overpriced. So again they do not count in the way a flash drive would. The only times I've ever seen miniatures or figurines being sold at lower than "normal" costs have been when they were "on sale". If all flash drives were being sold the same overpriced costs then I would not have a need to make my opinion made here about how it was too much to pay.
And by the way... that's all my original post was meant to be: an OPINION, to which I believe I am entitled to post thanks to something called FREE SPEECH! Perhaps I could have worded it better, but then again I'm not an English major... writing is said to be the lowest form of communication due to the way it can be misread... like here for instance, as obvious by how much you're taking offense to it.

Wether he was trying to be or not, it's how it came across when I read it. I would've let the whole thing go, but he singled me out and I'm allowed a rebutal. I wish things were cheaper, but I don't call out people that buy them at the posted prices.
As for my so called "attack" and singling you out for this, well, you were the only one I saw at the time that was making such a large deal about how you would buy this particular item no matter what the cost. I simply used you as an example of how quite a lot of people are so obsessive in their "must buy it because" attitude, and NOT as any personal attack on you in any way. Though in all honesty if you really don't like being singled out as an example of a point someone wishes to express in their post, perhaps next time you shouldn't be quite so obvious and aggressive in your own posts.
I in return will try not to use names of others in future posts... unless absolutely necessary. Now... can we get on with life and go read a comic in peace?
