Interesting...
Is this the remnants of the last elven nation going to war then?
I wonder how old the Matron really is...
Page
287 implies that the Matron was the one to send the Sons into exile (which was a long time ago, but how long?).
That appears to have been to hide them, completely, while the Sisters (shouldn't it be Daughters?) hid in a more visible way, either via body modification or an externally applied illusion that holds even if the person die.
(And in page
148 you can see dead sisters that are not an illusion to fool the Legion.)
Apparently the Matron thought that splitting her people and hiding them was the only way to ensure their survival. The growing realm of Legara or what was to become Legara was a threat to them it seems, or was more nations than that a threat? Too little information... *grumblegrumble*
One wonders how they made more in the meantime though... Artificial wombs using preserved sperm and ovaries respectively? Oh well.
It doesn't seem to the them that are glowing as much as the light and reflections from the temple.
Both genders have cleaned up and put on some fancier clothing though. Btw, the sons "plate armour"
seems to have been clothes, except for the shields. Perhaps reinforced silk, it's frequently been used as cheap/light armour historically.
Anyway, I think the fusion is more than just a slight change in appearance. Exactly what it entails we'll probably see later on.
And, Tah'vraay is a 'failed' Sister? I wonder if that was by choice, or if her weak grasp of magic (which is what her one pink eye seems to imply, instead of both being yellow/orange) forced the different role upon her.
Still, she's been useful as a free-roaming agent and go-between I imagine.
Heh, and the bald aide de camp reminds me of Haskill.

And a sick, twisted part of me imagined the elves marching out of the temple singing:
I love you, you love me, we're a happy family.*and switch*
We're off to kill Legara, the horrible legion will die! (to the tune of 'We're off to see the Wizard')
1. Too old? *ducks.
2. Ponn Farr. *giggle* Arranged twists, secreting the male-born away to join the other males, and keeping the females to raise secretly in the Temple. With Tah'vraay as intermediary, of course.
3. Trinkets, charged to maintain the illusion.
