I'm pretty sure that if Richard ate Cale's baby not even their bff status would stop Cale from going totally sickhouse Brock Sampson on Richard's ass.
People just talk about the baby because that's what usually happened when you bumped uglies without protection. Who knows Benny probably has a shield working as a condom of sorts.

I'm shocked I didn't see anyone mentioning this earlier on, but...
Did it not occur to anyone the possibility that to Richard, sex IS killing? To him, what would follow climax better than a big explosion of fwoosh? High probability of further emasculation of Kale to ensue!
Also, to follow up on a couple pages previous, isn't Kale being a tad hypocritical toward Pella? He "killed" a child to save the gang, if anything, his lack of sympathy toward her own angle on the recent Gnome stubbornness was quite over-the-top. Not to mention the fact that to have done otherwise would have surely meant further inner conflict for her due to having to face against her own brethren.
Yes, it was necessary for both her and Kale to concede guilt over their actions for them to be redeemed for readers, they aren't Richard after all, nevertheless Kale's gonna need to eat his share of humble pie over this.

You mean Cale?
There's already been all sorts of theories over what Richard thinks but personally I think that they all overthink it. It's a simple joke, Richard's like a child who thinks his parents are fighting when they're really doing it only instead of being frightened it exites him because he's Richard.

As far as Cale knows, he did kill a child. Because it was necessary.
He didn't like that, and it's gnawing at the back of his mind. He still feels guilty over it.
Thus, when Pella killed the gnome guards, it hit Cale hard because it poured salt in his own unhealed wounds over the kid - more innocent people dying because of him.
Especially since Cale thinks Pella's actions were premature and not necessary*, and because she acted against the image of her that he had (a kind of betrayal of trust).
But yes. Now that he ate Benny's pie, I think she will make him eat humble pie in return, and apologize to Pella.
*Speculation, but since Cale was the one who told Richard to blow up a mountain, I think Cale's intention was to hold out longer, then lure the diggers and the dwarven forces into the gnome mountain as he and his allies fall back, evacuating the gnomes. Then Richard blows up the mountain, trapping the attacking dwarves in the suddenly active volcano fortress/mountain.

Yeah, he has been getting a bit buffer lately...
Though I have a friend who is so skinny he has a "six pack" just on account of the fact that he has nothing but skin to cover his muscles. Which is probably the case here.
And as we all know, Richard did lose his baby fat in one of the earliest panels...

For an unimaginably powerful and intelligent warlock, Richard should know something about this.
Wasn't he alive a long time ago? Thats what undead implies. I thought he may have had a family when he was not undead, but now cause he doesn't know what cale and benny are doing, i dont really think that anymore.
Cale is screwed if Krunch or Ray'd finds out, and Richard is the best character ever.

Yes, he was alive. But the thing about undead is they don't typically remember their life. From my short excursion in Wow (free trial) I believe that's how it was there, and we all know LFG takes a lot (though not all) from WoW. Also, the whole speech about Richard just starting to remember parts of his life back in the plane of suck. So yeah, doesn't remember it.

Sep 30 2009, 01:14 AM
The thing is, you're assuming that Richard would have thought like a normal person while alive, which was a long time ago. I doubt Richard really ever cared about sex, and especially not with love. As has been pointed out, one is likely to identify something with what they would be doing in the situation, in this case, if it were Richard in Cale's position, the only reason he can imagine a person to be screaming is if he were slaughtering them, their family, or their family and then them after they've been forced to watch, similarly if I saw someone doubled over in laughter, I'd assume someone else just got kicked in the nuts as that's what would make me double over in laughter.

I think it would be funnier if they came out of the woods looking properly worn out and walked up to the camp where we see Richard sitting with the Bloodrage...
Richard: Oh, so you didn't kill her? Cale, I'm very disappointed with you.
Cale: (raises finger for objection) But...
Richard: I don't care, she's still alive. With all of that screaming I heard you better have at least tortured her some.

I finally figured out why he was laughing: Richard's interpretation. By now, since they're folloing him, I'd say they pretty much trust Cale, overall. However, the parental talk will still be a parental, "what are your intentions towards my daughter" type of thing.
Of course, Cale is not the one who tied up Benny in order to have his way with her.
Of course, you could always cut to he morning after scene, whre Benny and Cale are both tied up by some random assailant. Figure, when you're all tied up, and busy thinking about "other" things, some things can become a reality. Then it will be up to Pella and Richard to play hero.
