Well yeah Richard's basically the amoral manchild archetype only with warlock powers. I doubt he remembers much of what it means to be alive. Sort of like Count Orlok from Shadow of the Vampire who didn't remember how humans acted after centuries of living alone in his castle.

I imagine a gold shovel would be completely worthless unless you were digging fine sand.
As cool as it looks, things made of solid gold usually don't have any practical worth. Case in point: a fiddle made of solid gold.

Technically the Golden fiddle was a reference to the song Devil Went Down to Georgia, I'd expect you'd know that.
And if fantasy has taught me anything its that there is no single commonality between all trolls in fiction and I doubt Benny subscribes to baby eating, that's Richard's shtick

Well it does work. He's dug holes with it before, though I'm too lazy to find any of the pages I do remember it.
Also I have to ask, how exactly does a shovel aid in pillaging? I mean, unless you hit someone over the head with it and then stole their stuff. Which might be slightly interesting to see, but I think I'd rather see him kill someone with his fork of truth.
And what exactly is wrong with getting off topic Zoran? It's more entertaining this way.

also, i don´t think krunch will throw a fit here. if only because i feel he knows that benny is a very strong person and totally capable of taking care of herself. i don´t think she´d take very well to an over-protective cow here.
Logic and parental protective instincts do not compute.
It doesn't matter that Krunch or Ray'ed know Benny can take care of herself. To them Benny would always be their little girl. It also doesn't matter that Cale is one of the most noble people in the world. Only their internal will power can get them to overcome those gut reaction to threaten Cale with physical harm should he break her heart.

A shovel has no real value in pillaging. Digging up buried treasure isn't pillaging, that's just called digging up buried treasure. Now I can see there being such thing as a pillaging brick. Hell I have a few pillaging bricks.

The Fimmion thing was a reference to the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion expansion pack The Shivering Isles. As part of a side quest you have to retrieve, among other things, a pair of enchanted pants from an NPC by the name of Fimmion. In order to acquire his pants the good way, you have to first give him a sweet roll.
What I said is pretty much a paraphrase of what he says during the quest.

I consider looting buried treasure to be a subset of pillaging, which itself is a subset of looting. I therefore stand by my use of the Pillaging Shovel and counter your "Pillaging Brick" with the fact that, from what I can recall of the top of my head, no bricks have been seen to date in LFG. Now a Pillaging Stone or rock or something rock like of reasonable size would be completely legit.

Richard:" Why is she still alive Cale...now what will i throw in the hole i just dug, oh look gnomes.*

Sadly, I did not catch half those puns (I refuse to throw back the ones I did actually manage).
For the one thing, the skin tone doesn't matter. Benny's Benny, who happens to be a female of obscure pedigree, and Cale is Cale, a male elf of uncertain pedigree (I mean, come on, when did they reference it in the comic?). They've each known the other for a long (relative) time now. Both have gone through changes and revelations-well, mostly Benny, with the revelations. If not completely inevitable, there was a distinct probability that this would happen.
Children or no children, I can still see Richard asking for first helpings.
Of course Richard is hot. He is the Mistress of Magma.
