These skimpy chainmail bikini pieces offer horrible protection but I refuse to wear something else because I'm a Battle-maiden and Battle-maidens always show plenty of skin. It confuses and distracts our enemies! And our allies unfortunately...

I never understood how Benny's shirt...eh...thing manages to stay on. In fact, most of the time, her clothes seem eager to leap off/fall off of her body. I stared forever at the 9th and 10th panels wondering how her clothes were held up and if they've managed to come by a good tailor who could fix her falling britches problem. Maybe find her a nice cloak.

Richard's evil an all but he'd never cock-block Cale. Assuming he would even understand what he was seeing he'd probably leave them alone and reenact it using a pair of cats or the fork of truth back at the camp for the other's amusement (except for Krunch, I don't care how reasonable you are the idea of someone banging your daughter is naturally disgusting)

Huh, I realized that the comic actually has had romance in it for quite a while...
The strips that were referenced by those that expected something like this to happen shows Benny's progression from holding Cale in contempt (more or less) to coming to care for him quite a bit.
That is romance in action after all (given what this page showed), and it was kept low-key and in the background, being woven into the story without producing any jarring sensations, as far as I'm concerned.
Travel-companion/friend and lover are not mutually exclusive after all, so I doubt the Cale/Benny dynamic will change all that much.
That is, they're fighter/leader and cleric who are friends first and lovers second.


I think the plot will continue in the same vein, weaving it in without detracting from the story.
And no, a story doesn't have to contain romance to be good. But neither does romance automatically ruin a story.

Hmm an angry Krunch going after Cale would be quite humourous. And I'll bet Richard would be egging it on too for his own amusement.

I think Benny isn't consoling Cale over the loss of innocents as much as over Pella's manipulation. Cale had the "blow up the mountain" plan before the tower fell, which means he was expecting to abandon the mountain to the diggers and that Pella was just helping, with necessary sacrifices. However, if you were him, what you prefer to think you were sad about- "they died needlessly" or "holy shit the person I really trusted and jumped into a tree to save is manipulating me on the orders of somebody I never knew existed and still don't have the name of"?
