Hello again wink.gif
Same format as before
3) Why did Benny tie Cale up like that?
R) Personally (and I admit this part is VARY open to point of view) I think Benny did it just because. Sure she could have come up to him and whispered something in his ear or done something else like that but that just wouldn't have been her style. I think think its just kinda her way of saying 'yes I'm giving myself to you but I'm going to do it my way' and also just to have a bit of fun at Cale's expense. The best friends and lovers often give each other a hard time; it just makes things more fun wink.gif Just her way of promoting Cale from the former to the latter.

Jonath's view makes sense...Benny probably views it as a temporary thing, whereas Cale will go all big-eyed puppy on the green lass, thinking he's found his "eternal soul mate" and all that nonsense.

I would guess this is setting up for some dramatic scene in the future where Aeloon stabs Benny, then Cale goes bonkers and rips the hapless man in two ala Bloodrage,
Then sticks his eyeballs on the Fork of Truth and leaves it on a hill for all to look upon.
Then Richard will set it on fire, like he did a-here

But anywho you guys and gals bashin on this out there you dont need to be so afraid of it in my opinion it will either open for more jokes oooor it wont really effect the course at all aside from a little romance here and there. Personally I prefer more but I can understand your hesitation towards this matter fearing it will disturb the comedic flow of this comic but with geniuses like Lar and Sohmar behind this I dont think you have a thing to worry about.

Great job you two! Keep it comin! ^^

I'm a romantic one too! Oh, I was so suprised! I squeeked: Waah! Caaaaale en Bennyyy biggrin.gif I knew it ^^

I only said that Benny might view it as a one time fling but judging by her unprompted display of affection I'd say she's serious about it. When she was coming to pieces after she thought her whole family was dead (if you notice the last time she seemed sad or vulnerable at all was when she was reminded of her dead fiance) Cale was there for her. Cale was almost definitely not thinking about comforting her so as to get in her pants later, he was doing it because it was the right thing to do and Benny sensed that which made her all the more attracted to him.
Anyway that's my take on it, I could be (I'm probably not though) wrong, maybe she just saw Cale without a shirt and said 'Yum'

I haven't read all 23 pages, so forgive me if this has been mentioned, but...

I think it's a dream sequence - simply because the bulk of the panels are done in monochrome. LFG has usually depicted night scenes still in color.

I'd love to be wrong, but I thing Cale is dreaming.

I think the coloring was done to illustrate the difference between night and the light given by Benny's magic ....or something to that extent.
Jonath
I doubt its just a kinky wet dream on Cale's part (more likely it would be a kinky wet dream on Benny's part) tongue.gif
It's at night, simple as that. Refer to the last page where a similar monochrome was used to represent the traveling the group did during the night. Lar just decided to use a different style to animate the night than he used to. If this was a dream the backlash once that detail would be revealed would most likely kill Sohmer, Lar, and their immediate family members. People hate dream sequences for a reason.

Yes but dream sequences that involve two characters either getting together or killing each other are generally the easiest way to upset the fanbase.

Yes, the blue-tinted monochrome is representing moonlight, not a dream. Probably a full moon. It's actually a really good representation too.
It's also somewhat reminiscent of an old filming technique of using a filter to turn day into night, because real night was too dark to film in.

(regarding romances)
More like Ive seen them, been exposed to far too many horrible fanfictions for me to see much of anything like this in a positive light anymore.
And Twilight is terrible, I'm extremely glad this comic doesn't have sparkling diamond vampires in it. x_x

In that case, I pity you.
You also owe it to yourself to read up one some stories that include well-written romances.

There are lots of well-written stories that include romance, either as the focus or as part of the background.
Elan and Haley from Order of the Stick was mentioned by someone before. They're one good example of the later, as is Roy and Celia from the same comic.
Most of Lois McMaster Bujold's books have very well-written romance in them as well.
So does John Ringo's books, though he mix it more blatantly with plenty of lust as well.
Haruka and Seta from Love Hina is also an example of a good romance, contrasted with the rather juvenile and over the top shenanigans of Keitaro, Naru and the others.

After all, love and sex (or agape and eros if you want to get fancy) relates to one of our basic needs and therefore generates a lot of strong feelings. Ergo, well-written romance in a story adds depth to it, whether it's the focus or just goes on in the background.

I admit that I'm a bit disappointed over how quick many people were to proclaim that the comic was ruined, before Sohmer and Lar even have had a chance to show how they intend to develop this.
As it is now, you're just projecting your fears and prejudices and making (premature) judgments based on non-existent information.
It's possible you will still think it's ruined in a month, but as yet, we can't know that.

Btw, I know a way Richard can make the sparkly diamond thing into something badass.
He attach small, very sharp diamonds all over himself and then place himself strategically as a statue or something in the middle of a knot of enemies. Then he explodes the sharp diamonds outward and shreds the enemies into minced meat with them.

And yes, he denounced poorly written romance, but he also claimed it made him think any and all romance would ruin a story, hence my rather elaborate reply.

Speaking of which; how far will they have to travel to reach Kethencia?
Are the soldiers of Legara chasing them, or are there some ahead of them too? Or other foes?

Considering they have pretty much the entire remains of both the gnomes and the Bloodrage tribe, there are probably non-combatants with them, rendering them more vulnerable to an attack.
Or did the gnomes and/or Bloodrage send their non-combatants away before the respective sieges? I forget if that was shown or not...

Half-orcs are a result of a human mating with and orc. So far no race, in either WOW or D&D (I play the second and hear too damn much about the first) that has a Elf/Orc baby. They generally hate the piss out of each other... Especially Half-Elves and Half-Orcs.

If you want to get technical half-Orc could refer to any being with Orcish and non-Orcish parentage but its a moot point because Benny's race has never been stated and she's been said to be a half-breed of some sort.

Though lots of people like to call her a troll. They usually end up dead..... But it doesn't mean they're wrong... Or right. Or alive anymore, so who cares?

Yeah if Benny ends up pregnant then I could see a massive shift in the dynamic, otherwise the naysayers shouldn't have much to fear.

Yeah I'm going to agree. Characters having sex is somewhat shark-jumping, but having a baby? Shark jumping^2 imo.

Richard would just spend his time trying to kill it kinda like the reverse situation of Pikachu and Togepi

Assuming they can get kids and want them, I'd say they would decide to wait until Kethencia is reasonably safe and everything's settled down a bit. Being pregnant and raising a kid in the near future would likely be a bad move.
Benny's a priestess, so she should know the right spells and/or herbs to prevent pregnancy if they continue to be lovers.

I admit that the suggested scene of their kid biting Richard's finger off, to his delight, was very amusing. wink.gif

Still think the story will focus on their trek to Kethencia primarily though.

Yeah I don't know how Richard would react to the baby but he'd probably try corrupting it and he'd be a bad influence on its development, always contradicting everything Cale tells it.

Same thing again
4) what is Benny and could she and Cale have kids?
R) As far as I can tell all the races in LFG are based off hoard
WoW races so I beleave based on what I have seen here that Benny is
a half ork half troll and Cale would be a high/blood elf.
As to can they have children I would say it's posible but to quote a

I don't like it, mommy!!

Ugh but yes, I understand. I was just hoping his development would go the more humourous-warrior route and not the angst-ridden sort of noble yet tortured leader sort of thing he seems to be heading for at the moment. Like, something where he could stab you in the brain through your nose and then feel sort of awkward because there's a booger on his sword.

Oh and I was very sad that he didn't get horribly embarrassed back when he ran out to battle in his knickers. Come on, perfect setup for a panties joke! Totally blown past! /cry

I don't know I guess I just miss the times where Richard was not the only source of funny. Am I about to get flame-roasted?
