Hi there,

I'm a big fan of the comic and I'm currently studying translation. I was wondering if it would be ok to put amateur translation of LFG on the web (specifying that I'm neither the author nor the artist)? And if it WOULD be alright, would some of you be interested in a french version of the comic (all I can translate to for now)?

Thanks for your answer.

You should probably ask the creators this. Seeing as that's something that would go under intellectual property. If you posted without their approval they could get you for violating terms of use.

They asked for translators here a long time ago. Applications are closed, so I assume they have all they need. Unfortunately you missed it, and I seriously doubt they'd allow anyone to repost LFG anywhere else.

How could they translate the Dick (Richard) jokes?

I'm sure if the translator is good enough they would manage. And if not, they are leaving out teh best parts. For DICK IS LFG! WITHOUT DICK LIFE IS NOTHING! ALL HAIL DICK! Wait... that came out wrong XD

but yah, i think they would find a good translator, bbut with any translation something is lost.

Dupont et Dupond was translated just fine as Thompson and Thomson, from Tin Tin. And to be honest, a lot of the charm of any comic version is found in the original translation. Asterix et Obelix is funny in English, but downright hilarious in French. Methinks those who want to appreciate the joke will come to the source: LFG in English. Though I'd love to read a French version too. *wink*

Its not like Richard's jokes are that complicated, the only problem would be translating puns.
