cale looked kind of weird...
From my own scant experience in drawing faces I know its difficult to get that sort of angle and get all the proportions right. His eye looks scrunched up and small, perhaps Lar should have gone for epic shading on the left (our right) side of Cale's face.

Epic. Lord of the Rings reference fitted perfectly. And then character of the story remains quite refreshing.

Ok, having watched Red Dawn and a few older movies from my childhood. (wow they seem to have become painfull) I see a duality of reference. I only angled the picture and resized it a little to match, no other manipulaiton. I think this may be a reason, if done on purpose, if it is a tribute, for the cockeyed eyes.

I also have burned in my mind the scene where he looks in the distance (with the stupid camera angle) and the wind through the hair.
Also the richard reference to Red Dawn's blood drinking is not off much either.(I can't belive I registered just to point this out after discovering I hate the movie as an adult.)

Meh. If the "filler strips are because of the cons" is true I'll somewhat patiently wait for when they're over, I suppose. And by somewhat patiently wait I mean sit around spinning in my chair until the boredom breaks my brain, as usual when waiting for updates with nothing better to do.

Well, Cale did kinda sorta almost die, though not exactly from a stroke (unless, of course, he had one in that short "OMGIMGONNADIE!" moment).

Lar must have spent too much time on making the background look epic and didn't have much time to touch up on the eye.

I'm more freaked out that the guy was so convinced it was a Red Dawn reference (its not) that he went through all that trouble.

well it's not that much work, 2 minutes, more if you're having trouble finding the picture from Red Dawn...

I think he meant more along the lines of it being a Patrick Swayze tribute, rather than strictly a Red Dawn reference.

Still the utterance of the line Red Skies shouldn't be enough to make people jump to the conclusion that it was at all related to Red Dawn. Though it is possible that Lar based the picture on a picture of Patrick Swayze. Comicbook artists do it all the time. Right now Reed Richards is either Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

Well, if he's undead, then he's unliving for moments like these, right?
