who and what are the daughters and sons of the north land? they appear to be some sort of blue elf
Jonath
Sep 11 2009, 03:39 PM
Some people on the forums call them dark elves, others call them drow. I call them Gigantasmurfs, I believe they are distant cousins of the smurfs who evolved convergently with elves to take on elf like features but I have nothing to support this theory.

Dark elves and drow is the same actually, drow is short for dhaerow and means traitor in elven. ^.^
That's D&D: Forgotten Realms, anyway.

They're probably based more off night elves. Yeah I know Night Elves are pretty much expies of Drow but you know what I mean.

They seem to be a matriarchal society like I've heard the Drow to be.
Jonath
Sep 11 2009, 05:07 PM
They seem to be matriarchal because of the lack of men in the sisterhood. Societies tend to be matriarchal by default when that happens. By the same token the Sons are without a doubt a Patriarchal society.

They spanned from a Smurf having sex with Gargamel
Fuck yeah.
Jonath
Sep 11 2009, 07:03 PM
That's physically impossible. I think over time the Smurfs got hunted down by elves and the smurfs who grew larger and more elf-like were allowed to live and pass down their genes.

Gargamel can't have sex, it's part of his character that he's a virgin, it's why he's so evil to everyone.

They're dark elves. Simple as that. And matriarchal societies aren't because there's a lack of men, mind, it's simply because whoever has the guts to possess the power of ruling a society, or whoever is the stronger, tend to become leaders. Women can be as powerful as men, so long as they manage to grasp the power before then... it's complicated...
But, yes, they're dark elves. In fantasy, rather than be in an ebony (obsidian-colored/jet black), they're drawn in lighter hues so you can see them with some color. Dark, caramel skin. Enriching smurf blue... but, yea, they're drow. Or simply Nordic Dark Elves. Anywho, so long as their arcanely powerful, they are most definately Drow/Dark Elves. They have the traits, the power, the talent.
I'm willing to argue, if you are

I wasn't implying that matriarchies formed only in absence of men, I'm saying that calling the Sisters a matriarchal society is redundant, what else would it be? It's like saying liquid water is wet.
While I agree with Bastyaan that they are (somewhat) original creations they're definitely based on drow/night elves.

This most recent comic seems to imply that the sisters are in charge of the sons. Thus my earlier statement of them being a matriarchal society holds.

Logicaly beacuse this is a comic based of of WoW They are almost certainly

Cause Cale is a Belf so maybe?

Friendly tip: Don't say "LFG is based on WoW"
LFG most certainly has a lot of elements of WoW, especially the characters' appearances, but there is so much parodying of other fantasy elements and genres that it's not accurate to say it's based on WoW. Doing so generally gets a lot of forumites irked, because we hear it over and over and over and over, to the point of insanity.
Don't worry about it too much though, it's a common misconception and we won't eat you for it. Well, we might nibble, a little. Just to see if you taste like chocolate.

So, they
could be Nelfs, but until Sohlar come right out and tell us what they are, it's anyone's guess.
Jonath
Sep 14 2009, 07:48 PM
My analogy is that LFG is based on WoW in the same sense that the world of Watchmen was based on Charlton Comics

but wait why are the majority of the sisters white with exception to the matron and Trahvaay and all the sons blue?
Curious

The blue ones have all the powers? No, wait... The blue ones are all related? No, wait... It'll come to me...

Perhaps the sisters are really blue but the aura of their powers makes them appear pinkish.

The matron saying that the daughters and the sons were "merging" made me think of Starcraft: Broodwar (The archon unit, since they say "The merging is complete...")
...Does this mean I'm hopeless?

No when people saw the page the first time half of them thought of DBZ the other half thought of Starcraft.

Truth be told, I thought of neither, and I was a fan of both for a while.
But, now that I've thought of it, I have to ask. When they've finished merging, will they have "Power Overwhelming"?

Perhaps they'll end up doing something like the
Radiant where all the sons and daughters will fuse their essence into a single ultra-powerful shell and completely annihilate the Legion. But then there would be nothing for Cale and Co to do so I doubt that will happen, it will probably be much more mundane.

are the night elves that are very blue or trolls. or blood elves that dyed their skin blue. or blue humans with pointy ears. i wish i knew
Ronin Drake
Sep 29 2009, 02:20 PM
The pointy ears seem to indicate elves. Doubt their trolls since the ones we've seen (half-trolls) have the knobby round ears. Seems most likely that they are some variation of night elves.

Sisters and Sons gives a bit more distance.

Well if the Fusion is really a mass pair off then it'd mean that after nearly 300 pages without so much as a romantic gesture we suddenly have a comic entirely devoted to sex. LICD in a fantasy world.

Okay, so first we get interspecies hanky panky and then we get Incest? Wow. LFG is like the Deep South.
