I just got done reading through Order of the Stick. Particularly, V's Soul Splice plot. I don't think I have seen anything as epic as that. Nothing, no really. I have friends who tell me about their epic campaigns with characters taking 3 prestige classes to max levels and I still have nothing to compare it to. I mean really, just read it.

It goes beyond my concept of epic. I have no single word to describe truly how epic it is. None.

not only does V take an absolute NOSE DIVE into Lawful/Evil, but they do it in less time than it takes Richard to assert his Chaotic/Evil status when it is questioned and there is an orphanage nearby. I mean seriosly, FAMILICIDE. 1/4 of the Population of Black Dragons. GONE. If Souron, Cruela Devile, Demona, Satan, Darth Vader, and Lex Luthor were to team up to do something evil, maybe, MAYBE, they could top V's run. But damn.

And as much as I feud with Richard, there is nothing I can compare him to to honestly make a choice on whether or not he is truly the best evil thing-- ever. His brand of evil is unique.

Has richard ever merged his soul with 3 of the most evil mages in the history of his world, committed genocide on an entire family of black dragons (I do mean ENTIRE), epic teleported an entire citys worth of people, in boats, to a place he hasn't been in in possibly 100 years, or gone toe to toe with basically himself, imediatly after doing all of that. No, thus, he loses his status with me.

It may, of coarse, also have something to do with my love of the spell disintegrate, but than again, another advantage of V is that we know what spells V is casting. I have also never seen a more masterful use of explosive runes

This is Black Mage, I don't believe you two have met.

Well, until the malevolent spirits collect on their part of the deal, I don't thing V's actions covered more than an hour or two (and, even when they do, it'll be an issue of who's 'driving').
He happened to come to his senses after the battle. It's not as if he's decided to make malevolence a full-blown career.

What he chose to do with the powers was still morbidly impressive and just plain sick, especially choosing to leave V's mate and children, with broken bones, lying on the ground with no sympathy or aid from V, because the injuries weren't life-threatening. Forget the spell familicide, I found that to be more shocking.

So, for starters. Richard wins.

I'll explain! Wizard versus Undead Warlock. V wouldn't survive half the crap Richard has been through, and Richard would've been 100x badass doing what V has done. Secondly, the humor factor just isn't there. The reason we love Richard is because while he's awesome, made of win, extremely powerful, delightfully evil and all the while he makes us laugh. Just being extremely powerful doesn't cut it.

Now don't get me wrong, the comic in a whole is very nice. The humor factor for the entire comic is there. Though when you compare just Richard to V, Richard has better qualities and higher survivability.

Richard would beat V to Death, for Richard is THE BEARLOCK!!!!!

You forget it's not V that has created the spell, he used an epic spell from one of the three soul-splices.

Do i really have to explain the difference to you guys? I'd expect that comparison from an 8-bit fan who just sorta glanced at LFG but not actual LFG fans.

Fine i guess i have to be the one that points out that Black Mage just talks about doing vaguely horrible things and often fails when he tries to go through with it were as Richard doesn't talk about it he just does the very horrible things and always in a much more unique and varied way than Black Mage ever does, with BM it's always stabbing and hadoken and that is it...

comparing V to Richard is a bit unfair.

throughout most of OotS, V has not been the evil one. Belkar has been the evil, homicidal maniac. V, him/herself, (no ones really sure) isnt really evil. if youll remember, V took that deal because his/her family was in danger from the mother (i think) of the black dragon they killed earlier in the comic. while he/she had that power, he/she went completely batshit insane evil. after V lost the powers he/she went back to being who he/she was before, but that show of chaotic evil was amazingly epic.

Richard, on the other hand, has always been evil. Ridiculously, hilariously evil. Richard shows little bits of his evil every comic.

i think that, if anything, the two are close to equal in their level of evil. its just V showed an assload of evil all at once, while Richard lets it out is bits and chunks.

V had a bit of epic win, but it wasn't really in the evil department. Most of his 'evil' was unintentional or because he was rushed. The slaying of the dragons wasn't particularly evil because the dragons weren't good. Everything else he did was with the intent for good...he just failed at actually being good. How much of that was due to the evil spirits inside of him? It wasn't exactly his natural self, or his natural spell list.

Either way, V is a bit of a douche. The paladin who survived it all gets just as many epic points in my book.

For the Richard vs Black mage discussion? Black mage is a dick, but he doesn't get anything done. Ever. Even when he goes batshit evil, the most he does is hurt white mage. Epoch phail.

Richard on the other hand...whatever he's doing, he has it well planned out. It might not be evil in the long run, but he's still a mastermind which is more than the other two. Plus, at least as of now, he does some clearly evil things like slaughtering innocents because he feels like it. That's more than the other two can say.

Not sure who wins on the epic scale, but my guess would be Richard. Whole mastermind thing makes me feel god on the inside.

black mage... is rather useless. just like everyone else in that group of "heros". BM just fills the quota of the "hilariously violent" character.
