Nah, I actually am too ADD to write a full length story. I just keep bouncing from idea to idea.

So for those of us who can't manage anything longer, or have an idea that's more suited to something shorter, I bring you a one-shot topic, so that all of them are in one place. Anyone can put up a one-shot, provided it conforms to forum rules. I've looked through the board, and as the closest I've found is the shipper thread, and that's kind of specific, so it should be fine. I apologize in advance if I'm wrong.

I'll start things off with one of the ones I did for the Fanfic topic that used to be in the Comics board. It's from Tavor's point of view, during the trip to Kethencia. Enjoy.

Could someone please remind me why I'm doing this in the first place? I could be with my mother, my father, my sister, my friends...!

But instead, I'm trapped, and about to vomit. I don't even have a stomach. I'm stuck in a pair of swords for the gods' sakes!

But no, Cale had to take a boat to Kethencia. There's a portal not far from Gamlon, but no, he took a boat.

And there was that battle. At least, it sounded like a battle. I can't see you know. Don't even have ears, so I'm not sure how that works, but it's better than nothing.

Was that... yep. We hit land. Well, at least I'm going to be off this gods-forsaken boat.

With my luck, though, we're going to travel in the desert for a month...

EDIT: There's a little bit of confusion as to the purpose of this thread. This is for self-contained one-shots, not for someone to start a story and others continue it.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned something like this early in the Writer's Corner topic. If I remember correctly, it was decided against because it seemed too much like a roleplay fanfic.

Or maybe I'm misinterpreting this. From what it looks like on my perspective, though, you've put up the first part of a story and are expecting someone to pick up from where you've left off, then someone else, so on and so forth, etc.

Do you mean an actual set of one-shots? Short, self-contained stories with a little bit of plot and character work? If so, you need to explain that better. And, for that matter, do a bit of work on how much you feel is required for a story. There's enough in your post for a bit of character, but there's no story there, really. There's an inkling, but nothing to satisfy.

Ok, I'll fix up the first post. I simply meant for this to be dedicated to self-contained one-shots. I don't remember seeing anyone mention anything like this, but like I said, I could very well be wrong.

And what I posted was just to get the ball rolling. I know it's not much, but the original intention of that one was a few laughs and nothing more.

I remember that one. There are a lot of them in the old fanfiction thread.
Basically, they're "one post fanfics". Or, you could say it's a small part of a larger story that can stand on its own.

From the point of view of two prisoners in that city's prison, where Cale went... eh, can't remember. What they're saying about him...

"The elf..." The girl's voice is filled with wonder and sounds impressed.
"I don't know, silly girl. Keep working." The crack of a whip. Sarah whimpers.
"Anha, it hurts..." Hacking coughing.
"Shush, girl! Do you want them to hear you?"
"Anha." No reply. "Anha!"
"WHAT?"
"He's aflame..."
"You're hallucinating again, girl. Keep working."
"No... look."
