Considering the comic's name itself is derived from an abbreviation that possibly originated in WoW, sure it might have some relevance, like the races aswell, but it's not made to be the same as Warcraft.

Good. If you see Warcrack coming, run as swiftly as you can in the opposite direction. There are those of us who call it Warcrack, for good reason.
Excuse me, please. I need to finish Laaru's last day on the mount chain. Getting a venomhide raptor from the Un'goro chain.

Even if it might be inspired by WOW I don´t think lfg is based on WOW. Since I have never played WOW my thoughts went to LOTR, Terry Pratchett, old mythology stuff and of course the "Heroes" games. The fantasy genre is large, and WOW was definitely not the first fantasy game to come. Also, since Sohmer seems to be pretty well acquainted with fantasy and mythology, he is more likely to have been inspired by a number of different games and books than just a single game.

Me too.
I simply don't have time to play WoW, although I'd like to try it at least.
Too much overtime at work and a fast-track college course are eating up my time, among other things.

Richard so needs a skeletal horse mount, one that likes flowers.

I played WoW for a while, not anymore though. I'd have to say that as far as the influences go WoW probably only accounts for a good 25% of LFG, the rest is DnD and various fantasy novels and franchises and of course some doses of Star Wars and such.

I did find this comic trough WoW, cuz i was looking for some tactic movies on youtube for raiding ingame. And i came across the Slaugther your world video wich randomly came up on recommended videos, and i started to make some research for anything like this site. Cuz i tought, "the people who made that awsome music video had be making something more, or have something else" So i searched about awhile i found this site.

From what I understand, Richard is the clone of a WOW character class that used to be at his power level before being "nerfed" as some put it.
*blink* and thanks to a random individual at a gaming place in my city, named Hal, I view Richard as being a character he would play.
he once led a pvp group by using his level 29 character to punch level 60's for 2 points of damage a punch... and scare them away due to the randomness. The death toll that day among level 60 charcters that he punched was 200 due to his group backing his play.
and that was years after the people at the gaming place created a group called The Cult Of haL on Neverwinter Nights and confused people online by their actions.
edit: forgot to mention. I don't play WOW. I just enjoy watching that group play it. They get into the most insane situations and find the most random glitches in the game. One managed to log in at 100,000 ping and watched five extremely confused GM's type "What the hell? How did you get in?" at a time when they and him were the only people online. before he was force logged off.

OMG!ZOMBIES! Well, technically, the Forsaken, but... *snicker* My first toons were a gnome rogue and a Forsaken priest, Melodey and Harmoney. People asked if I knew the names were spelled wrong: yes, but the correct spellings were taken already, so I went for the Aulde English variants. Those were on her old account, of course. I have my own account, now. Been palying about three years, on and off (the period between the time Terror's account finally closed and the time I got my new one not counted in the total, but the the actual play time, well... lol). My excuse is that I'm studying their world-building, and how they put stuff together. It's actually given me some ideas for my own project. They doi have things you'd never really get away with in writing a novel though, stand-alone snippets or vignettes that an editor would tell you to take out, since thre's no real plot progression. I mean, there's soemthing at the end of it, sure, that gives you a clue to the whole Wrathgate thing, but that quest is so easy to overlook, because it's in Duskwood on your way to Stonard, and you might pick it up but then drop it, because it's not really... You know. The hand-in is so far out of the way. And now that you can port to Stonard, well...
lol. I do play, but this comic actually has managed to take me away from the game.

I still play, of course, but.. To borrow a phrase, "im on ur boreds readin ur posts". Something to that effect, anyway. Yea, I try to paraphrase/write it and half the time, I can't even comprehend NetSpeak.

I've never played WoW, myself. Considered it for a while, but decided I didn't want to pay for a monthly subscription for it.
On a tangent here, I found that once I got into MMOs, I was actually spending -less- on gaming than before. MMOs tend to have more longevity than other games in my experience, so I end up buying games less frequently. $15/month for an MMO is peanuts compared to $60+ for a couple new games every month.
As for the topic, I think the comic seems only vaguely linked to WoW. Some similarities in the look of the races, but that's about it. There are some clear inspirations there, mostly early on, but the comic is absolutely its own story and world.

I don't want to quit now, though. At least, not that now I'm seeing end-game content n stuff. Like many of the way-old members, I found LFG when it was on worldofwarcraft.com's Community Spotlight, so without Wow, I myself woulda never found it.

so there, LFG is awesome, not because of it's references to WOW, it's just simply plain awesome.
