So, ummm... What anime do all of y'all watch, and what manga do all of you read? Which ones do you enjoy? Would you recommend them to others? etc.

Basically this the thread where you can discuss non-electronic Japanese media.

Manga: One Piece, 07 Ghost, Fairy Tail, Naruto, Bleach, Dogs: Bullets and Carnage, D.Grayman, Full Metal Alchemist, Code: Breaker, Kaitekyoushi Hitman Reborn, Ga-Rei, and Black Lagoon, though it hasn't updated in forever sad.gif

Anime: Any of the manga above that have been animated, Baccano, Akagi, Ghost Hunt, Sengoku Basara, LineBarrels of Iron, Basquash, Eureka 07, Eden of the East, Rouroni Kenshin (of course), Chrome Shelled Regios, Ga-Rei Zero (prequel to Ga-Rei), Full Metal Alchemist, FMA: Brotherhood, Darker Than Black, Full Metal Panic (all three seasons), and a bunch more I watched a long time ago that I can't remember... Basically I love anything that involves lots of swords, mechs, or superpowers. Akagi may be my favorite one that doesn't fit into any of those categories, though it's certainly an acquired taste.

I haven't had a whole lot of exposure to anime and manga... prior to college, aside from occasionally catching an episode of Pokemon or Digimon when around TVs that actually functioned as such, I only saw a Akira and a couple Miyazaki movies (Spirited Away and one or two others, I think).

Mm, but of the few I've seen and/or read since then that I've taken a liking to are Full Metal Alchemist, D. Gray-man, and... Well, really, I'm fairly easy to please. Even a rather melodramatic short series I watched was good for making fun of. :/
Nilly
Manga - Mainly from Shonen Jump, I would read Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu Gi Oh *Which was a damn weird manga*, and other various ones you can read in it these days. I have one copy of a Yu Yu Hakusho manga, it's the first one where Yusuke was hit by a car. I also read part of a Hellsing manga on the last day of school, was very very entertaining.

Anime - Elfen Lied Jap dub (if you have a bad stomach, don't watch it. Seriously.), Yu Yu Hakusho, Ruroni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Bo-Bo-Bo Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo (my gran loved this one. No idea why...), and others.

Whenever it's possible I try to watch the Japanese dubs of anime. I'm good at reading subtitles and watching movies at the same time, so I'm able to handle multitasking with dub anime.

OOO! Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle (In Jap dub and English sub. I preferred the Jap dub by far...) *nod* And bits of Princess Mononoke.

the japanese voice actors are always ten times better than the english ones. I've been unable to find an anime where that wasn't the case.

Even though I agree with you for the most part, that all depends on how well they are dubed and how skilled the individual voice actors are, some are incredibly good at what they do.

I would also like to add that I am surprised that there are no mentions of any Mobile Suit Gundam

and in the manga department I will add Dr.slump, and the Dragon Ball series (if you can find it in it's original format, as of yet I haven't) as well as Samurai Deeper Kyo
MantaLord
I don't really read any manga, but the anime I watch are:

Completed:
Death Note
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

Caught Up With (shows that are currently airing):
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi
Axis Powers Hetalia

Catching up on:
Code Geass
FLCL
Tenga Toppen Gurren Lagann
Bleach
Gantz

(All within the last year)

I'll update later with comments on these shows. As you may guess I'm really ADD with anime, watching different shows depending on my mood.
GothicMoocow
I just rememberd i Finished
YuYuhackaso and
Death Note
Aswell..
Makaan
Battle angel series
Aqua Knight
Slayers "Going to have to order these from a Barns and nobles"
Ramna 1/2
Trinity Blood

Blood Mage
I havn't watched an anime in years, to be honest. I don't know what happened, they just lost their flavor to me. But when I was younger, I always watched Zoids, Ruroni Kenshin, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Based on that, you can probably get a good idea of exactly how long it's been.

And the only manga I've ever read is the Sunwell Trilogy, for obvious reasons.
ryannayr417
I find it depressing that I was like, "Hey, I know like all of these!" Only to follow up with, "Oh wait, I only know about these because of all the porn gay anime fans make of it."

While I agree with that, I still have yet to find an anime where it was done well.

Also, additions to the list:
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Code Geass R2, 00 Gundam seasons 1 & 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Hellsing... hmmmm.... I can't think of any more right now, but I know I've seen way more than what I've listed so far...

Edit: Ha! Remembered more right away. Kuroshitsuji, getbackers (Akabane is the man), Tales of the Abyss, Rental Magica, Kaze no Stigma, Ergo Proxy... and I think that might be it. I'll probably remember more later though... it comes in bursts
MantaLord
I just started watching Lucky Star. It'd basically Seinfeld save with Japanese chool girls. It's interesting.

gungrave
kind of a manga addict here, has completed 42 mangas and counting

doesn't see a lot of animes, last anime I saw I think was gungrave, that was quite a nice anime with a nice storyline and a nice style to it,the main reason why I haven't seen animes in some time is cuz I don't where to watch animes (I saw gungrave cuz one of my best-mates had downloaded all the episodes and gave me to waych)

if anyone knows where I can see animes online for free, that'll be very nice indeed

MantaLord
There are gajillions of places to watch animu, but I most frequently use anime-sub.com, animecrazy.net, and veoh.com.
gungrave

It's mostly those gay-ass fruit names, that fucked-up long-nosed parody of that Greek storyteller, and the whole fuggin' plot. I like Luffie enough, he just needs a different plot.

So I've been obsessively reading Rave Master and Fairy Tail lately... Once you get past the first 5 chapters of Rave Master, where it's really pretty juvenile, it's actually a good manga. Oh, and very happy, the new Darker Than Black manga, Shikkoku No Hana, is shaping up to be awesome. Can't wait for season 2 this october...
ephealties
i justwatch:

Bleach
Naruto (shippuden)
ruroni kenshin
air gear
yugioh (sometimes)
Nesstar
I like vampire Rosario and slam dunk mangas...

Animes i watch a shit ton... One piece, Hellsing, Full metal, naruto, bleach, hell girl, Zombie loan was awesome i wish they had more episodes, and much much more. Usually if i watch the anime i wont read the manga sad.gif

Oh and who ever mentioned Gantz... +5 points to you... That show was very messed up but kept bring me back for more sad.gif Dont watch the censored version... Cause this shit is amazingly gruesome

I used to use narutowire but they can't get around Aniplex's new monopoly on one piece and FMA: Brotherhood
http://www.anilinkz.com/ is what I'm using now... generally pretty good quality for the videos, and they've got a massive archive of different anime

I cant stand pokemon...
I wish they just end it and tell us if he ever became pokemon master
Then if they really wanted they could just make it so he has a kid and his kid tries/ and eventaually does surpise him...
With some extra plot twists i think even i would watch it again..

but! im currently on DBZ! yay me!

Time to break out the geekiness. I love to watch anime.

Mangas aren't really my thing but I do read HSD Kenichi and Air Gear.

Animes:
Elfen Lied
Those Who Hunt Elves
Death Note
Tenjou Tenge
Love Hina
ChaosHead
Yakitatte! Japan
Cooking Master Boy
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Naruto Shippuden
History's Strongest Disciple
Air Gear
Ouran High School Host Club
Bleach
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Angel Heart
Mouse
Queen's Blade
Higurashi
Chobits

There are more but that's all I can list off the top of my head.

I didn't know they made an anime about that! I'll have to look that one up, that is if it were a direct adaption of the Chinese story "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"
Jeff N.
Be warned that the animation style is very bad 80's cartoon style drawings but it's kept the story line well.

I couldn't get into Heroic Age for some reason... I might try to watch it again some time later... Naruto... I don't like how they keep departing from the Manga and trying to integrate it into the story line. At least when One Piece takes a break from following the Manga they make it into something separate.
vancleave
I am currenly reading 1/2 prince very good manga its at mangafo.com check i out and ell me what you think
'Ello Guv'ner
I highly recommend Hellsing to anyone who hasn't tried it, and one piece is the only other anime i watch, don't really read manga and i did try Oran high school host club, it was ok but i lost interest after the second episode
Jonath
Yeah if you like really serious stuff (like Blue Gender) then Hellsing's for you.
Nilly
Ah, Hellsing. Your blood and gore is matched only by the gorefest that is Elfen Lied. :3
Jonath
I tend to appreciate serious anime more than kooky stuff.
Nilly
Elfen Lied was pretty serious. Sort of. Most of the time.

Define 'kooky.' Just in case. >_>;
'Ello Guv'ner
i can like both, and Hellsing is very gorey but that doesn't take away for the epic story, if anything it adds to it

Did you mean like One Piece kooky?
Jonath
Yes I mean randomly dancing with talking wolves kooky (stopped watching after that)
