julnowrimo.com < for those of you that are interested...
Sorry I got this started so late. My computer and ipod have been impeding my attempts to get started on JulNo.
For those of you who don't know, National Novel Writing Month (which takes place in November) is where people all over the world attempt to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. That is the official-official NaNo but there is also one taking place now, in July. Called July Novel Writing Month.
Now, being the procrastinate that I am I still haven't chosen which story to work on. I have three options rolling around in my head.
EDIT: Hey, I've already started and chosen which story I'll be working on. You guys can still vote to let me know which story you find most interesting just because it'd be nice to know ^.^
The first is one I have completely planned out and know I could reach 50k on. It's called the Power of Balance and is about a girl named Bridgette who will find herself pulled into a parallel magickal world where she had the power to save both worlds because the balance is off. There are tons of subplots, including a romance between her and a magickal being named Faolan who has been in love twice now and both of his loves have died (his most recent being a girl from Bridgette's world... incidentally, she now uses the dead girl's room. freaky, no?) As I said, I have everthing planned out I simply need to write it...
The second one is one I only just came up with. I am calling it Searching for Pony right now and is about a girl named Sora whose love is killed and turned into a vampire. She's a rather spoiled girl and gets everything she wants. So she immediately searches for this guy and tries to turn him good again. Meanwhile, war is about to break out between the vampires and the werewolves and Tom (the guy) may find himself on a side he didn't anticipate...
The third one I have dubbed Karma's Mission but I hate that title. It started out with this idea that the only thing that can get you sent to jail is commiting murder... and you have to get caught. It slowly started to turn into a scifi story where something really bad happened to cut off the government's resoures so a band of bounty hunters upholding their own personal "law" of the outer planets comes together. Karma is a psychologist on a bounty hunter ship called Midnight and this is the story where things become more than the crew bargained for...
I'm really leaning toward the first one but I thought i'd throw it out there to see what other people might actually be interested in.
Also, anybody else who is joining JulNo I'd love to hear what you're planning on writing ^.^ Also, support and ideas should abound here.
Thank you!
P.S. Hope this is the appropriate place for this and if it isn't could you move it and not delete it...

To be honest, I'm HIGHLY intrigued. I might write a novel, but at the same time, I dunno. I'll give you a "sure" answer if I am BEYOND chapter 20 XD
Good luck, mate. I hope for the best for you. All those stories seem pretty good, so I'm hardpressed at this point :/

I voted for the last one, as the first one sounded sort of cliche.
As for this contest...nah, not entering. I only wish I had the motivation to write a story that big. I'm sure I could do it, think up the idea and all that...but it's a lot of time and focus I'd need to accomplish. Not sure I could pull that off. >.<

I know this has only been here for a couple of hours, but it looks like Bridgette has it...
Darkhawk... It does have some really cliche ideas (I know, girl sucked into a fantasy world, searching for magickal items *sigh*) but that's just the major plotline. The real story is in the how Bridgette deals with the subplotlines. The theme is pretty much accepting people different than you and accepting the person you fell in love with.
Anyways, anybody that's doing this or has done something similar before it'd be awesome to have a support group here. The LFG NaNoers!
I'll probably keep an update of how many words I have written. Thanks for everybody that's voted so far and for the support

While something like this interests me and I have the perfect story I could, I really don't think I have the time or patience for something like this right now lol.

*laughs* completely understandable. I'm feeling really silly joining all of those rps knowing I'd be doing this real soon... *sigh* Ah well, I'll make it work. Plus my family knows I'm doing this so I'm sure they'll be making sure I'm caught up on my word count....

I'd do this, but... Oh, buggerit. x.x I always get stuck in a road block. I did NaNoWriMo last year and failed miserably at it.

Unfortunately, while I do have a story I could attempt for this, I don't have the time. I'm supposed to be focusing on getting a job, and then I'll have to focus on that job. :/

I, on the other hand, seems to be the ONLY one other than Fantasy to be attempting this. So far, I love my plot '>.>
Also... I need to change some things around...
And...
Come on people! Don't leave us hanging! ;.;
(Also, like Nova, I SHOULD be looking for a job and to focus on THAT job, but apparently this seems to be my ONLY excuse to get a minor novel in to see if I can EVER become a good author... and to be honest, this is my first time trying to attempt this.)
On an unimportant note: I had to cut my hair ;.;

I'm glad you're trying this too Sess ^.^ I only managed 1,709 words yesterday but I'm hoping to get a ton more today.
I'm glad to see that Karma's Mission (which I think will be renamed "Never Going to Escape" once I write it) has attracted attention. I will eventually write that one (possible for NaNo in November) but I am going to work on my Bridgette plot...
Hey, Sess! What's your plot?

Hey, Sess! What's your plot?
lol, well keep going!
I see... well, go on, continue!

My plot? Well, it's about a Thieves Guild rising to power through the use of necromancy and anarchy. The protagonist, who begins as a cold-hearted murderer, has to search for an artifact that could not only begin an internal war with the city, but end it as quickly as it begins. Unfortunately, after gaining the artifact, Vincent al'Doran finds out that he's being used by the Thieves Guild and will be thrown away after his skills are no longer needed. The story takes place in Centra-Tier of Ranaamar, within the city of Neversong, during the Age of Desolation. It's a dark story (Gothic--Sci-Fi/Fantasy), really good, and we may even get to see a dragon or two if I'm running out of things to do :/ Anyway, I may treat you all to an exerpt or something just because I'm bored.

Excerpts are amazing ^.^ I'll probably be posting what I write online so I'll possibly share a link to that for people to peruse if they feel interested in reading what I'm writing

Even though I'm keeping my signature updated with my total word count, I just need to celebrate because I finally finished chapter one (it took two days and all 3700 odd words). Yay!!!

Hey guys! I'd really like to get a critique e-mail list going, and not just for JulNo. If you're interested in sharing and receiving feedback on what you're writing give me a PM and I'll add you to my list and give you my e-mail. But the flip side of this is you must read what is sent to you and give feedback as well

So don't think you can cheat out of that!

I'm signed up for NanoWrimo, but the problem is between working as a journalist and RPing, I have little time to do this too.
It sucks

Well, good luck on NaNo! I'm not sure if I'll have time when it comes around. I bet I'll still be working on this series of novels. It will now to be four books once I've torn apart the book one outline and made it into two books. Yay me!
Though I am really glad to see people like the idea for this book o.o It really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

I've participated in JulNo for a couple of years. I still have time, if I want to get in the 50k (just double the 1667 words per day); but I think I may wait nor NaNoWriMo, this year. I've had this series plotted in my head, and every time I sit down and write it, the prequel starts bouncing around in my head, he events that lead up to the events that i'm writing about, albeit in a roundabout way. The story keeps growing backwards. Maybe, for a change, I should try to write it backwards (though, if taken literally, that would be a Hctib).
I did try to get something in for April Fool's, though! And Candy Havens is getting set for another "Fast Draft", so.. you never know.

AugNoWriMo is fast approaching! Sign up soon. For AugNo you choose your goal so you do not have to reach the lofty word count of 50,000
Speaking of, I have finished the challenge!
My novel, though, is maybe only just half way through 0.0 Scary. So my plan is that on the 23rd I'm going to attempt to write 15,000 words and then spend the last week of July struggling to finish the novel. Then for August I'll work on novel number two while editing this one (and if I have to finish up the last little bits of novel one in August that's fine too. Those words still count toward my goal)
