I will say it again, in my fanfic you really have to pay attention. I've been hinting at some stuff that people are so surprised over since the very beginning....

FanFreak doesn't have very many readers. FanFreak is kind of sad. But FanFreak voted for Sal because she was the first interesting fanfic FanFreak read here.

Sorry Dragon, sorry Jowy... but sometimes your stuff gets repetitive or I get lost or I just feel characterization gets lost.

Though Ronin's fanfic is really interesting and the writing is amazing I just don't think you go very deep sometimes.

Sess... I tried to read the beginning of your fanfic and... I dunno, I got lost easily. I think you tried too hard to be elegant and it just came off as... unplanned.

Des... I also attempted to read the beginning of your fanfic and while the choice of first person is awesome, all I see is great swathes of dialogue and I like to see some balance between talk and description.

That is FanFreak's critique. FanFreak plans on being an editor so FanFreak tries to read a lot of things so that FanFreak can give critique ^.^

Also, if Devin grants the name change request and stickies this, then the sub text needs to be changed as well something that would fit its rename, just a random observation I wanted to point out. Also, I wanted to put up a couple names to be voted on.

I'm spending a lot less time on this one than I have with any of my other projects, admittedly. I usually add a lot more detail to the things I write. Then again, I usually try to write things that are much longer, use a chapter format, and it can take weeks for me to complete a full story portion.

With this story, it's all just been coming so smoothly, that I didn't want to bog it all down by going back and adding the... deeper details.

On the other hand, I'd still consider myself a novice in the field, even if I give a better showing than the standard drabble.

I like critics' cafe, but if you're going to suggest others, you might want to have the same sort of alliteration. My suggestion would be "Author's Asylum".

I will add Authors Asylum to the list then, I sorta like that, cause let's face, we may be family here, but we are all crazy uwe he he!

I approve of the Authors Asylum because when I thought of my fanfic I had three options. (I thought of just about everything in science and math class. See thats why I'm creative...I'm tortured!!!)

1. Go crazy and cuss out my math teacher.
2. Die of boredom in Science Class and watch Bill Nye Videos..( come on dude we are in HIGH SCHOOL not first grade...)
3. Do something creative.

I like Critique Cafe, personally. Or perhaps "The Asylum for Authors." Just because I don't like Athor's Asylum is quite that catchy...

A "critic's cafe" topic is probably a good idea. It would keep the chatter down in the fanfic topics, some of which only have about one story post a page. It would need some basic rules, though, to keep it organized, on topic and prevent it from turning into a general chatter topic like Jibber Jabber.
I'd rather a new topic be dedicated to fanfic critique, though.

Authors Asylum good title but I don't like the concept.

1. feedback all on one topic would get confusing.
2. you'd have to see stuff you dont wanna see. Haven't gotten to chapter 7 of Giant Ferrets? Too bad, someone just revealed the twist in that chapter and you saw it while looking for a reply to the newest post in Attack of the Octopi.

Critic's Cafe is just a JJ thread for here, not a serious feedback area, unless you want it to be. You can still give feedback to the authours directly through the stories itself, just not... well, you know, a lot of chatter that spams the topics purpose.

Mostly, I'm wondering if such a thread could even stay organized, considering the number of fanfics here. Considering how much clutter such a topic would collect, maybe discussion of a particular fanfic should stay in the individual fanfic topics...

And we can't make another JJ here just for general chatter. We have a general board and a chit chat thread for the community already. This forum is for fanfics and discussion of fanfics. Not trying to be a hard-ass, but the LFG forum has a board and/or thread for each type of discussion. Users should feel free to browse all the boards and use whichever one is appropriate, sharing their thoughts across the entire forum, rather than clannishly clinging to one board and subsequently forming exclusive cliques, clubs, factions, etc.

Now, if you want a topic to discuss ideas for fanfics, what you like to see in a fanfic, general comments about an author's writing style or ways they could improve their dialogue or descriptions, then that's OK. You know, stuff that's about fanfics in general, but not a specific fanfic. Or we could just use the Grand Opening thread, since it's already there, already stickied, and a few authors are using it for that purpose anyway.

And I'm not voting, 'cause every time I see "this isn't meant to cause any hard feelings" it pretty much is guaranteed to do so. I know it's not meant to cause trouble, but if I were a writer and didn't get a single vote, I'd feel pretty damn discouraged.
