not a bad page. Richard, of course, steals the show

I dunno, Richard doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would put up with being called 'bro'. Luckily, the gnome wasn't too specific. If he really valued his life, he would have said, "Don't tear out my skeleton rip me in half turn me into a frog/chunk of ice/pile of entrails/projectile/wallet/hat/any article of clothing use me as a hand/string puppet eat me feed me to the panther/rabbit/bloodrage fwoosh me fwoom me fwam me [this could go on forever] bro!"

He's taking orders from the elf now. Heh.
Also... that's what my lil bro used to say when he was a kid, but it was after I took 'im in my arms and spun him around to make 'im feel like an air plane.

Even though he's acting civil now, I think richard will probably act up and cause a lot of trouble for the gnomes soon. He just wouldn't be richard if he didn't.

So, Ray'd is a bit of a racist? Or speciesist? What would it be classified as?
Also, I was expecting everyone to retreat to Kethenecia, regroup and then prepare to strike back.

Lar's attention to detail just gets better and better, especially in the second to last panel. Very menacing with the bony hands positioned like claws. All that's missing is seeing Richard's expression. I'm tired of the various jokes that end with "bro", which I'm subjected to practically everywhere on the 'net, but the gnome's panicked expression kinda makes up for that.
I'm going to go along with what someone else said previously about Ray'd's outlook on being captured & tortured. He would have rather died than have his clan see him maimed as he is, even though he now has a new Arm of Awesome, courtesy of Pella.
And it looks like Toyk may be of the same opinion as Tah'vraay and the Sisters. They're ready to give up.

Smartest. Gnome. Ever.
Or at least quickest on the mental feet. And that also applies to Dwarves, don't have the page, but remember the guards challenging Richard way in the beginning, as well as pirates.
I don't know what jokes there are with 'bro', but some people really do talk like that. I do remember there was some skit with a bunch of guys who each only said one word- bro, dude, guy, man- but that was based on how people really talk. Might as well get upset at the Canadian eh. I was a little surprised by it, but figured Sohmer had recently read or watched something where people talked that way. Then I figured some gnomes just talk that way, or maybe just some guards *shrug*.
And as for Ray'd being speciest, did anybody miss the exchange between him and his father when it was announced the gnomes had arrived. Or the "diplomatic" session between Toyk and the head of the Bloodrage?

It really is kinda weird that Ray'd would take orders from anything that's not a high-ranking Bloodrage. I mean, he kinda was a leader himself. War leader, even... so why is he taking orders from Cale, especially about battle?
Unless maybe it's just because Cale is acting first, before Ray'd can start up with anything. :/

Why wouldn't he?
Cale & Co. just saved him from more torture and certain death. Benny healed him. Pella gave him a new arm. Now Cale & Co. are going to help him get even. They're giving him an opportunity to pay back the black dwarves for destroying his home, killing most of his clan and torturing and maiming him.
He'd probably do it anyway even if Cale hadn't told him to help.

Makes me think about a spoof video I saw on YouTube long ago. It was about 5 minutes of an anime, everyone was dubbed to say "Dude!", and the subtitles translated what it really meant. Hilarious, that.

Maybe I'm the only one to have listened to the song that excessively much, but Richard sings "to
stop this war", not "to start this war". I reckon it's his way of stopping wars - kill everyone. If you don't believe me, listen to the song carefully.

[EDIT] Further supporting my claim, what do you think Richard would be most suprised at - the fun of starting a war, or the fun of stopping it?

[/EDIT]
And on the topic of the page... simply lovely. Richard looks so joyful when he says "we're on the same side". Heh. Wonder how long that will last.

To those wondering why Ray'd would take orders from Cale--
It seems to me that Ray'd's personality requires someone to take orders from. He blindly followed his father before, but now Papa's gone. Ray'd will give orders to his own unit, but he requires direction from an outside authority. Cale is the best he's got at the moment.

even though Richard's on his side, the gnome definitely isn't safe
the fact that Richard pointed out that they're on the same side kind of makes it even more menacing, knowing it's Richard saying it
Wonder what's behind the door the gnome's guarding?

That's very possible. Put that with Cale's natural ability to take command of things, and the fact that Ray'd pride is prolly still suffering (not that that's a bad thing...), and it'd make sense, I s'pose.
Then again, the mind doesn't really make a whole lot of sense in reality... *shrugs*
