In most movies, when a love interest is added and/or made official/cemented into place, the movie usually ends.

i think cale definitely needs a girlfriend, or shall we say, a queen. i also think sohmer/lar could make it work - LICD proves that they can handle romance in a funny way. i also feel that a new character could add an extra twist to the dynamic. to work and to be funny, i think we need a female character who´s rather different from cale, strong and independent, maybe a bit tom-boyish (but pretty - your classic runaway princess comes to mind, or a beautiful con artist). i expect cale has a very courteous ideal of love and it would be funny to see his attempts at romance thwarted time and again. plus i´d LOVE to see richard give dating advice to his hapless friend!

actually, i´d prefer it to be a new character. because frankly i don´t see any of the girls who are around to fall for cale - pella and gid are part of the fun and cynical posse that act as a contrast to his attempts at being noble and heroic. i feel it would change their characters too much and probabaly cheapen them.

I too believe that, but i also believe adding a new female character for the sole purpose of being Cales girlfriend would steal the screentime from the other female characters.

well, it could be a storyline of its own. solahr have introduced other characters before and it only enhanced the dynamic of our "team". it might be something for the time cale starts the whole king business, a fun storyline after all the fighting of this arc has ended.
obviously, her character must have some plot relevance, otherwise it would indeed get too soap-opera-y. i imagine some sort of funny troy war twist, for example - cale falling in love with the purest intentions, but inadvertedly starting a bloody enormous conflict...

I was getting some fuzzy Richard/Cale vibes from the comic myself. A hug here, a lean-on there.

I think it would be cute, but it really couldn't work out well as a normal kind of romance. I mean.... decomposition appears to have taken some toll.

Then again, I'm aware that I'm a slash fanatic, and any two interesting males tend to get shoved together for me. I just normally... don't actually see stuff I feel supports it. xD;

i know exactly how Cale's lover would look act and smell! we have seen him before in the comic many a time and he always says one most famous word ...............................CHICKEN!!!!!!! also he is big green and smells strongly of sweat, poop, recently eaten raw meat.

If and when it happens then the girl would be a more aggressive person than Cale (yeah I know that's not very hard to find) And she'd be the one to come on to him. He'd be oblivious of course at first but when he would finally come around he'd be very dedicated to her right up until she gets killed to further the plot.
My personal choice is Benny but a new character might work too, I don't think 'the only other good elf in the world' would be a good idea though. I think someone who's way of life clashes with his would be good, I'm thinking an inexplicably attractive thief from some slum in Legara. Someone who steals Cale's cloak and after some misadventures falls in love with him. Just my two cents, there may never be romance in the comic.

Cale is already self destructive. His stupid plans would get him killed if it weren't for his teammates.
