So does the whole 'not able to die' thing only apply to the towns folk or to everyone in the town? Oh well just have to wait and see.

I have no idea if anyone else is making this connection, but the head missionary kinda of reminds me of Vorbis from Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods." Been wanting to say that about him since he showed up but just didn't lol

Still a very strange name.

Only townsfolk, I would think. They did kill the priest...that's why the guy is being executed in the first place. (or they're trying to execute him, anyway.)

Actually, I was kind of hoping for a little more...
On the other hand, the missionaries finally see what they're up against, so next time we come back to the village, I'm sure we'll see some fireworks. Literally.
And I say "next time we come back to the village" because I'm fairly sure Sohmer's going to cut to Cale's group now, to leave us hanging yet again.
And how'd the beheaded guy get his hands untied?

I think anyone would be happy to see the one who has given them eternal life. The simple fact that one of the villagers went the extra mile to voluntarily kill a cleric shows their loyalty to Richard as well.

I wonder what Richard is hiding in his shirt there... I mean, if he is hiding something. Or maybe he's just going Napoleon on us

I find it odd how the cleric immediately realises the entire town is crazy after seeing one guy live after decapitation. I mean, yea, he did say '...we don't have to pretend anymore.', but the priest shouldn't have even caught that. He probably should have been going OMGWTFDEMON!
Also, how did he (the priest guy) go from addressing the villagers while the execution was happening in panel 5 to standing over the decapitee in the next while the guy's still falling?

It seems we're at a point that is ripe with opportunities for answers to some of our burning questions. With so many of the characters reflecting on their current situation on the Cale front while Richard is exploring the source of his power for us to see, I'm just giddy with what I might learn next about this world.

Forget Rayd. I can't wait to see what happens on Thursday already, Im really hoping for something epic to come next!

Im really hoping to see Richard either give an epic speech then get a dagger through him (Who keeps throwing those?) or attacked with holy things.
Either way, the village is loyal to Richard, and any attacks and following battles that could come from this is likely to tilt more towards their favor. A very epic favor, might I add.
In other news, the villagers are almost always looking kind of...bored? Solemn? Bored?

He may have been being sarcastic. It's a village with evilness and darkness and people who can apparently get chopped up yet still survive, and it's on it's way to being more "pretty pretty unicorn" esque.
That's what I got from it.

does anyone have the comedy skit of Monty Python's holy grail running thru there head, i.e the black knight and Arthur fight?

Um, no, not really. But if the carpenter guy had kept falling into the saw over and over and eventually tried biting the boards in two. Or maybe if the executioner had very bad aim. "Oh, sorry, got your arm that time." "No problem. At least you are getting closer to my neck. Why don't you have another go at it?"

I don't think he ever lost it. He was worried about loosing his power, but it wasn't clear that he had yet. EDIT: Timemonkey (next comment) may have a good point, though. EDIT: Manddragoran has a good counterpoint. I have no idea what, if anything, happened to Richard on the previous page.
QUOTE (Leviant @ May 11 2009, 06:14 AM)

That was my reaction at first. I think he is really reacting to seeing Richard and deciding that he can stop pretending, but your point still stands. This is probably putting way too much thought into this, but I suppose having his head chopped off would have been a nuisance for him because he would have had to stay hidden in order to pretend that he was dead.

-----
Meh, I was hoping "pretty, pretty unicorn" was a line from some movie, but Google isn't coming up with anything interesting. As far as the village being a work in progress, the villagers seemed to be busy building stuff in the previous pages. At first I thought it was specifically for the clerics (a church?), but now I think it is for Richard (or at least it's Richard's plan). As far as the villagers looking happy to see Richard, they look respectful, but that's all. But that may just be normal. They usually look unhappy and dead tired, unless something particularly interesting happens. Maybe that comes from being dead. Zombies just don't seem to have a lot of fun, I guess.
I guess for Sohmer, it's a big deal that this is Richard's town and that Richard has a project going on there. That's they only reason I can think of that would explain why the priest is so fixated on what kind of town it is. I'd be a lot more worried about the headless body and talking head if I were him. It wasn't just OMGWTFDEMON (bad enough), it would have been OMGWTFPRIESTKILLINGDEMONONTHELOOSE, after all. I suppose it's a good thing for him that the guy didn't seem to mind having his head chopped off, though.

Probably because Richard is undead. If these guys are real priests with priestly magic backing them then Richard may have some serious probelms dealing with them. The comic has shown to have some basis from the D&D game and one of their primary purposes is to deal with undead. Of course maybe Richard's visit to his family tomb will make him resistant to that for a while.

Does it really matter if the priests have powers against the Undead? I mean you all are forgetting that Richard still has a secret weapon, Sooba is walking along behind him and Im pretty sure he can rip the throat out of any priest that tries anything against Richard before it gets to serious!
