Well, I don't know who else plays. What I do know is, I need to show off tongue.gif

I recently picked it up, and considering the last time I painted anything was practically 15 years ago when I finger painted in school i'd like some opinions on how it looks. If anyone has experience painting miniatures, or painting in general I wouldn't mind some advice on how to make this guy look better. Considering he's my test subject before I really go at the other 9 of him, 10 of a different kind of guy, and about 20 other units that I have to paint after that.

And for a image of what they'd look like while playing a game (aka slightly farther away)

And this is my entire army, unpainted.

I'm not posting them as images, mostly cause they're probably too large.

Not a bad painting job there. Far be it from me to decide what your army's colour scheme should be, but I think that all Khorne-aligned models (Bloodletters, Bloodthirsters, Berserkers, etc.) should have bronze or brass for their metallic parts and weapons. Either dark red (like the colour you've used) or blood red works well as a contrast in my opinion.

I paint my Bloodletters in a brighter red colour, as I play Word Bearers Chaos Marines, and all that Red Gore paint would look boring. You might want to consider making the horns darker or even painting them black. But it is up to you, after all. And as I said, good paint work there.

OI! you need to run a true army! Orks!

defiantly looks decent for a first go at it though, you may want to pull out a few different techniques such as inking and layering, also wet painting, and defiantly dilute your paints out... if your using acrylic paints, which it looks like you are, i suggest you go out and grab a bottle of Future floor polish, it is a clear acrylic base, that you can dilute your paints to give it easier non-clumpy workability, and not particalize your pigments...

here is an example of what a bad job of layering, inking and such can look like, vs the second pic was my first painted unit for orks... notice in this first pic how the blue on my boyz face gets darker, that is layering and wetpainting, sadly i suck at it, so it is a bad example.

but compared to this guy, he looks so nice, this one you can tell i did not dilute the paint as it seems to pristine, and clumpy in spots... *note that i intented for the blood to be clumpy, but i am not too impressed with the rest of him...

and finally here is a small selection of boyz with my looted basilisk Artillery Tank. smile.gif

Now remember that its not about winning games, its about how much fun you have! smile.gif i've got custom built units that i built speakers and a mp3 player into so they can play music as they move across the table, i've got ork cheerleaders that stay at my sidelines and cheer me on... i also get to throw around 100 dice when i get into a good close combat fight... smile.gif but i never win a battle... smile.gif orks are about being stupid and having fun, don't take it to seriously... smile.gif

Heh, I had considered playing Orkz, but Chaos calls to me more than the horde. My friend was playing chaos space marines, so I took up Chaos Daemons.

I have no idea what kind of paint i'm using, i'm using the default GW paints.

yeah, it's acrylic based, go to your local craft store and get a resealable paint pallet, preferabbly one with small pots that you can place a brush of paint in and then mix your acrylic future floor polish right in there, it will honestly make life easier to work with...

Yer, Orks iz gud! (At losing hilairiously, that is). I have a fairly large Ork army/warband/WAAAGH!, and can't remember ever winning a game...

If you want to be boring and actually try to win, just play Space Marines *grumble*bloody posers*grumble*. dry.gif
