Ballscratch
That's looks pretty good, actually. If I wasn't so cheap, I might consider getting it.
TheGrubz

Ballscratch
I will find you Gates, and when I do, I will make you pay.
TheGrubz
what pay for the game becuase you're so cheap?
Ballscratch
Well...yeah.

What did you think I meant?
TheGrubz
I would make him pay me for not pissing on his car
Ballscratch
I'm already getting money from Ian Thorpe for that.

It looks pretty good, might drive my computer a little nuts even though it's still quite powerful to todays standards. Just not sure if I want to pick it up, I have too many other games keeping me busy right now. Last thing I need is trying to find time to squeeze in an RTS that most people will most likely kick my ass in anyway. Only RTS game I had a chance in hell winning was WH40k.
Results May Vary
It's made by the same people that made total annihilation; that game was graphically years ahead of its time and is still ahead gameplay/interface wise, even though its made in 2000. It won best RTS ever made..... supreme commander is probably going to be amazing, but my computer wont be able to run it ohmy.gif sad.gif

When is that game coming out? It looks...

Words fail to describe my awe. So i'll just say... cake.
wraith
I'm not a fan of RTS games, they either happen way to slow or way to fast, either way I usually find them somewhat boring.

Pretty sure it was released on Feb 20th, so it should be at your local EB games or where ever you pick up your video games.

My PC won't run this in a million years, unfortunately.

3.2 gh processor
Radeon X300
1 gig RAM

I've been following Supreme Commander for the past several months, and am also a massive fan of Total Annihilation. I picked up SupCom last thursday and it is absolutely amazing. If you are a total annihilation fan, this game is for you. It works on the most epic scale I've ever seen from an RTS and it is amazingly fun. I thoroughly encourage anybody who likes RTS of any type to get this game. I seriously cannot express how much fun I've had with this game in the few days I've had it. I am not an RTS junky by any means. Up till now the only two i really enjoyed were wh40k and Total Annihilation, but this is probably my new favorite. So I tip my hat to Chris Taylor, the man can make an RTS.

Here are the Supreme Commander system requirements.

Minimum

* Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, Vista
* 1.8 GHz processor
* 512 MB RAM
* 8GB available hard drive space
* 128MB video RAM or greater, with DirectX 9 Vertex Shader/Pixel Shader 2.0 support
* Sound card, speakers or headphones
* 56.6 Kbps Internet connection required

Recommended

* 3.0 GHz Intel or equivalent AMD processor or better
* 1GB RAM or better
* 8GB available hard drive space
* 256 MB Video RAM, with DirectX 9 Vertex Shader/Pixel Shader 2.0 support
** (Nvidia 6800 or better, ATI X800 XL, X 1300 or better)
* Internet connection with Cable/DSL speeds

If that is your setup, you should be able to run it. I have a similar system but my graphics card is a step down from yours, so if anything I'll be doing some graphics tweaking.
Ballscratch
Still will never be better than Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade.

Just played the demo...

The game is quite the resource hog just like it's predicesor however it's quite clever. It has everything pretty much an RTS fan could want and more.

Only issue I have is the campain I was playing, took me almost 3 hours to complete the first bloody mission. Granted I am not hugely into RTS but I know how to play them well enough it shouldn't take me 3 hours to wipe out a couple small bases and then one large one. Half the time spent was in building units, not so much the land ones but the air ones which appear to be the most useful.

Yet the computer was able to pump out units as well as building structures effortlessly, like if I didn't get all the anti-air turrets in the first bombing run they'd rebuild them by the time I got the next batch of bombers made.

Meh, looks great and will most likely please anyone that likes RTS. I'm going to pick up a copy anyway just to fill my random RTS fix.
Ballscratch
So, like most RTS, the world is against you?
ZiN
Well it's more like... Us against them... and them. Spread across many different planets, just depends on where you wish to bring the pain. Unless you like waiting and have them come to you to unleash the pain.

and no worries, I am not trying to trash your WH40k. It's the only RTS I still like playing, Chaos Marines all the way. biggrin.gif
Ballscratch
Because you like 40k, I'll let the Chaos Loving slide.

Same, but now you're on double secret quintuple probation now.
Ballscratch
Hey, The 75th bow to no man. Emperor let my planet burn, why should I die for him?
Verbose
Well, way I see it, you got a choice to make.

Either you bow down to him and fight and die in his name, or I shoot you in the testicles with a boltgun which will cause them to explode. Also, you will bleed to death and not have the Emperor's protection in the next life.
Ballscratch
I don't like those options.
Verbose
Option B it is!

*Small update on Supreme Commander*

So after going out and picking it up last night, I sat down for about 3 hours and managed to play through a mission and a half. This of course included time for tweaking because this game is so quriky depending on your hardware setup. (Widescreen doesn't run as well as it should) Never the less I found a good configuration and found playing more enjoyable.

The game is getting better, it's one of those games that grows on you over time the more you play it. I am liking the game so far but still how much time is needed to complete missions is a bit much. Also one thing that really chaps me is when you think you're finished the mission, you're not! Congratulations, you unlocked more of the map and with it a much larger base to destroy with I might add, a commander! My inner thought process before this happens is of course "ah yes almost finished this mission and then I'll call it a night..." *Objectives Updated* "Damn it all!!!"
Digital Pariah
I had heard that SupCom's missions are a bit on the "time-intensive" side

not a worry for me though, my PC can't touch those specs

*cries*

"Real life"? I heard about that once. I think a friend of mine tried it, and it sucked.

Word on the street is that there are relatively few missions, they're just long as hell.

Like life.

If by specs he means penis and by PC he means women.
Ballscratch
I think that's generally assumed.
