Used to play MUD's back in the day, you know on the prodigy network in like 93'. Haven't MUD'd in a very very long time tho.
Edit: Mozart mud sounds familiar tho. .... is it telnet? Don't know if i have telnet abilities at work, think they blocked it.
Yeah, as far as I know Mozart Mud is telnet. It's been around since the 90's if I recall correctly. I've been playing for around four years on and off.

I used to play DSL (Dark and Shattered Lands), and used Zmud to play, it was based on D&D style, and it was alright. My friend got into it a bit more then I did. Pretty fun Mud.
There was also Gemstone III, which I played on Prodigy, and I believe it's progressed to Gemstone 4 (same game, they just add more storlines and locations). That one was just very intensive and a pretty tight knit community. They toned down a bit of the chaos though, and I think that took away some of the finer aspects.
But they had an implemented injury system that was phenominal. You would build wounds to areas that were hit (and could aim for areas). Rogues being very good at aiming, while a giantman warrior would be fairly lousy at it, but could hit amazingly strong, and weapons did different type of damage and such.
Like a dagger that hit the eye was likely to blind the person, if it was a great hit, it would likely hit their brain and kill them instantly, while a light sword swing might glance and cut above the eye, while a massive two handed would slice through the scalp, brain, and skull, scalping the person.
And injuries effected your gameplay. If you're nervous system was shot, you had to find healing since skinning and searching creatures would be impossible without your system working properly.
People missing an arm can't swing (or block depending), if you're missing a leg, you're liable to be knocked over and have a difficult time getting up. It was fantastic! Though I don't think they could apply this to a graphical game, it'd be incredibly gory, and near impossible to develop.
Wow, that in-depth? That sounds like something I might just have to look into sometime.

I played Aardwolf a bit, but I lost interest pretty quick... It was fun, but I have a very poor imagination. I've been working on it, but I can still barely visualize things at all, about just enough to get by on.
I was also rather antisocial... as I tend to be on anything that doesn't pretty much force social interaction.
I'm more one for freestyle forum RPs.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the free-style forum Role-Playing. I tend to enjoy something I can read at my own pace, but MUDs are good at building that skill up over time. Also, anti-social on a MUD gets you nowhere, fast. Hah, I tried that and ended up hitting several Deathtraps and losing most of my gear within the first week.

I will only play a MUD if it is based on DND and the such.
As far as I know, all of the decently populated ones are of that make.
