FTW!

You're missing a bunch of good series, like Ratchet and Clank, Warcraft, Half Life, and all that jazz. Gears of war doesn't count though, it only has two games. Of the ones up there, the only one I've played is Mario (except Burnout, once), so it gets my vote.
MantaLord
What about MGS? Or Smash Bros.?
SilkyZ
the list is just my opinion.

I never got into half-life or ratchet and clank. I always though of the FF series as overdone. SSB and MGS would be close in the standings, maybe they should be in the 5 spot.

WARCRAFT CAN SUCK IT! mainly because of WoW ( ohmy.gif i said it!)

Reasons
1) MH = words fail me really on the awesomeness of this game. the absence of a real plot accutaly boosts the open endness, allowing you to make up you own hack n slash adventure with 3 other friends. (top 3 games in japan right now is this series)
2) CoD = freekin addicting. the amount of detail graphically is amazing, and the gameplay doesn't suffer at all.
3) BF= this was the game series before Half Life and Halo that everyone was playing. sandbox 64 player maps were the cutting edge then and is the staple of many games today
4) Mario = you know him, you love him. HE'S FREAKING MARIO!
5) Burnout = this game puts other racing games to shame. it may not be the best looking, but neither do cars after a head on collision.

If I had to go off a top 5 I spent most time spent playing I would have -

1-FF (mostly 7, the all time greatest game ever laugh.gif )
2-Sonic
3-Civilistations
4-Football Manager
5-Streets of Rage (Very overlooked, I lived on this game after I got fed up with Sonic, MegaDrive FTW)

top five most enjoyed.

1-ff
2-Mario/Sonic (I like them equally, and this means I get 6 pics tongue.gif )
3-Civilisations
4-Football Manager
5-Doom

The only good WarCraft game was WarCraft III.

And I picked Call of Duty because the rest up there suck.

Btw, it's 'which' not 'witch'.

Burnout and Mario are the only ones you listed that I like. The only reason I vaguely like World at War is because I love playing Nazi Zombies; it's about the only game I can play with my brother without us fighting like crazy. And that's just on splitscreen..

But seriously, the ones I like are:

Gears of War
Gears of War 2 (I seriously like this one better)
Fatal Frame (1-3)
Resident Evil (Played all except Survivor, Gaiden or whatever and still waiting for Resi 5. And yes, I did in a sense play the very original RE; they remade it for the DS, complete with original crap graphics and even more puzzles.)
Silent Hill (Played 4, got stuck, played 5 and beat it. Am trying to convince Mom to let me play Restless Dreams...)
Left4Dead
The Orange Box (Specifically Portal, it. Is. wub.gif )
Rock Band (1 and 2)
Guitar Hero 2 and 3
Spyro games (First one, Dragonfly, and one other one I can't remember)
Crash Bandicoot (Wrath of Cortex is my fave to this day)
Condemned (Both of the ones currently out)
Fallout3
Bioshock

And this very-little-known gem of a downloadable game we got with an Arcade Xbox called 'Boom Boom Rocket'. I also like Feeding Frenzy. >>
Death Cultist
I know there was technically only one Warcraft III, but it counts as two b/c of the expansion. Oh, and people with complaints about the series simply b/c of the MMO are a dime a dozen. I personally thank WoW for finally ending so many other horrible MMOs. Developers see that their client base is currently taken, so that scared off plenty of potential crap that could be flooding the market.

Favorite series u ask?
1. Ratchet and Clank
2. Warcraft
3. Half Life
4. Spyro (yea, Insomniac is 2nd best publisher to me, only to Blizzard)
5. Disgea

And maybe somewhere after there would be Metal Slug. It's such a classic I couldn't refuse.
Adrian_Darkwolf
1. Mother (Earthbound to the common American)
2. StarFox (StarWing in Europe)
3. Zelda (except the Oracle Games)
4. Everything by Rare (Especially Conker's Bad Fur Day, but not anything they've done since being bought out, by some strange type of irony since it was bought out because Nintendo didn't trust in BFD)
5. Quenden (Elite Beat Agents in English)

I'm a die-hard Nintendo fan-boy who just happens to love things written in parentheses.

Now you know.
AND KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!!!!!

Hmm, no Metroid.

I disapprove.

While I enjoy a load of games, I'm only going to list my top 5 - & I chose Call of Duty, by the way.

1) Killzone 2
2) World of Warcraft
3) Warcraft III + TFT
4) Call of Duty 4
5) Dark Colony (Ah, 1997...)
Bastyaan
Monster Hunter FTW.

First wanted to chose Mario, but since his last games suck, i went with MH
giggledrop sunshine
Hmmm Call of Duty is tempting, but Burnout calls to me....

1. Blizzard games - Diablo/Starcraft/Warcraft. These series are the cornerstone of an unsung industry, and while I've played many RTS and random dungeon grind rpg's, these games have been flawlessly executed, and for the genre, they have never been matched. Pick a RTS that compares or random dungeon crawl.

2. Shining Force - Egads, the game of games. This series bred such wildly fun characters as Yogurt and Gort. Even so far back as "Shining in the Darkness" which was a 1st person dungeon grind (rarely recognized as the first in the series, but this one set the groundworks the rest based themselves on.) Now a days they make unusal games where they combine the mass killing of the er, that japanese war game, with the leveling component of Shining force, it's a completely different game. It still steals my time when I choose to play it, but it's just not the same.

3. Final Fantasy - This series has captured everyone's heart at some time or other. Whether it was the first rpg you ever played and at the feeble age of five you enjoyed braining goblins, or it was the new age graphics of FF7 as Cloud traversed an increasingly indepth world, to the point where Aeries was slain and everyone wondered why the hell a Phoenix down wouldn't work. Only dark spot was FF XII (not counting FFXI cuz it's just an mmorpg crap), but we're hoping Square gets back on track for the ridiculously awaited FFXIII.

4. Gaunlet - Ok, I know this isn't a great game, but the original was amazing, where you would run around with a friend, and laugh whole heartedly as you shot them in the back when they stole that piece of food you wanted, or you would become "IT" tag them, and run away as every monster on the board raped them. Now a days the added graphics which were fun, but I think the joy of Gauntlet was the ridiculous crazy and frustrating nature of the game. You weren't supposed to win, hell, the creators were shocked if you made it past the first few levels!

5. Mac Games - Ok, there was a generation of Mac games that just caught my love and are stilled remembered fondly. Such joys as "Marathon" and "Bolo' were endless hours of fun with friends, as we jacked fun weapons from each other and everything was bloody mayhem. This was the first real Shooter for me (out about the same time as the firts doom and Wolfenstein, but they really made the game about killing each other, first of the kind I think.) And Bolo, lol, setting up elaborate bases of pillboxes, only to have some bastard tank snipe your builder, and desperately attempt to plan where the poor little guy would parachute, only to hear the grim sound of his imminent demise once again. Great game.

That's my list, and I'm sticking to it.

I said mario only because there was no blizzard games or final fantasy.

The only reason there is no Metroid is because it got really suckish in the past few games. Though it is true that anyone who didn't like the series up until Prime deserves to be burnt at the stake.

Maybe, if you like new games.

In myopinion, and most people who have an at least half-informed opinion, all games have gotten progressively more horrid and overly graphic-based since the end of the 64-bit era.

Frankly, I think the Prime games are great. (Mostly because it's not like going through a maze with objectives except you don't know what the objectives are and the entire maze wants to kill you. Which is also the high point of the side-scrollers, too.)

And now we have the Wii, trading graphics for ingenuity. Of course, it also apparently trades the ability to make good games in the process.

Mario definitely gets my vote. I don't know how they do it, but even though they're all completely different games I struggle to think of a Mario game I've not enjoyed.

Nordic Reign
Hmm, tough choices. Here we go:

1. Legend of Zelda
2. Resident Evil
3. Final Fantasy
4. Metroid
5. Prince of Persia
Redington
QUOTE(Venine @ Mar 7 2009, 03:44 PM)
2) World of Warcraft

Unless you are counting each expansion, then I don't see how that would count.

Also, I refuse to vote in this poll because there is no Metal Gear Solid option.
Kelly
1. Final Fantasy
2. Metal Gear Solid
3. Legend of Zelda
4. Grand Theft Auto
5. Resident Evil

Your priorities are all out of whack! XD

Triforceelf
Turtle Rock in LttP took me WEEKS to beat. That place was HARD. Metroid prime was fun, I think I got 83% completion so Samus took her helmet off. I dont think I could get 100% though, that would be a nightmare.
GothicMoocow
I dunno if i said this before

Not 100% on top 5 series, but pretty sure

I dont think you will ever get anyone to ever agree on the top five game of all time. Its like trying to get people to agree on the top five movies of all time, it depends both on what you like and how old you are. For example, I prefere a few games from the 90's, because thats what I grew up with. Someone whos older may remember some really fun times they had with Pacman or something. A younger person is more likely to like the newer titles because thats what they have been exposed to.

I'm sorry, but the FF series beats all y'all. At least 6, crisis core, 7 and advent children. (Don't forget Dirge...)
