which would have soon happend in the next day or two.

I'm not sure if that's what the JJ was intended for or not.
There is an IRC channel, and some of us use Lar's Ustream channel when he's not broadcasting.

The thread was made for a reason, use it. Having a 'chat' thread isn't necessary as there is the IRC, as Devin said. Therefore, chat threads=spam.
