Full Version: I am looking for a writer

in my 10+ years of drawing I haven't yet found someone who matches me so that I could participate in telling a story in the comic format. I love comics, and have always wanted to be a story creator and sequential artist.

I just have trouble with little things like dialogue and cohesive thought

thus, I need a decent writer to work (as I am going to) for free to produce a decent comic (format unknown, although the medium will be the internet)

I have a universe of characters and settings to play with I just haven't been able to mold them together.

the genre I most enjoy is fantasy/sci-fi (obviously the reason I'm here at LFG)

what I'm looking for in a writer:

-sense of humor (working with me requires one)
-vast mental library of stories (this person must have seen (movies), read (comics & books) and possibly even created many many stories)
-sense of honor (both in the way you work and what you pledge to do, and the material you draw from- NO PLAGIARISM)
-willing to work hard to create something from nothing (as most good original works tend to be)
-over the age of 18 (this could turn out to be quite a venture and I need someone with the maturity to follow through)

if anyone is interested, send me a PM with some samples of your work. if you have any questions, post them here. I atm only have recent samples of my work to give out through a PM.

I do however have a quick fan piece I did for LFG in june of 2007

I humbly submit that my current work has improved over this piece

I am serious about this, and I hope to find someone equally serious

Ah? A writer you need? I am sorry, but I wish to help, but I am not of 18 years of age. As for my writing, I is mediocre at best, though I was willing to give you a short piece that I was working on. A pity. I have a sense of humour, but I'm not truly that funny myself. But, if you could bend the rules slightly, I'll be willing to help. I've been told I'm more mature for my age (I am about to turn 17, you see) and my writing of Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre are pretty decent (though I don't see how). I would love to be a partner, but the age requirement is the only thing keeping me from sending you a PM of my work.

But, do you wish for a sample anyway? Just for kicks?

And to add, I have some sense of honor in my work, though I have many inspirations from a small variety of authors. As for working for nothing, this is solely not true, for I seek some reputation for my writing so I could be slightly known to some, if not many. But, what catches my eyes is the fun of this, but your age requirement bugs me, and so I send you this post from myself.

if you want me to take a look at your stuff, I would be happy to, but the age limit is a big deal for me because of my personal experience. I've noticed that it's hard to find someone younger then 18 who has the drive to push themselves to become better and still get things done on time.

I'll be honest, your stuff would have to be pretty amazing for me to bend that rule. Sorry if I seem unfair, but as I said, I'll be happy to look at your work and give you feedback. I love creativity, and I think people should be encouraged to explore the farthest reaches of their imagination.

lol, as I've stated, it is mediocre at best, so I don't expect it to be amazing enough to bend the rules. As for personal experience, it's understandable. I'll give you something to read soon. Feedback is always nice.

Heh, I once considered myself a writer... Even if I still wrote, like, anything though, I'm crap for getting anything done.

I wish you luck in finding a good writer to team up with, though! happy.gif

Just joined the forums, Jet.
Am I too late to get in on this?

Exactly what do you mean by "sample" of my work?
Something I've written, or something I've written specifically for a comic? Do you want to simply see what kind flair for the language someone has, or do you want to see how well he/she can weave a plot/characters/etcetera together?

I'd really love to be a part of this. You mentioned "upto Wednesday", and I think you posted this on the 27th? In which case I may or may not be too late. I'm unsure what your deadlines are contingent on.

Maybe you won't even see this. I'll copy/paste it to your profile thingy.

Jet PMed me a few weeks ago and let me know that he had received a job overseas and this would be on hiatus for a while.

Greetings, I too have also just joined, and if the possibility of me becoming a writer for you is still available then i gladly raise my hand. I have written a few books previously, 3 by pen(many, many pens) and am currently writing a fourth

I have also drawn a few comics myself but alas, the sketches were wee' bit shite however the dialogue made everyone to whom i showed it too laugh!
I have been searching for an opportunity like this for sometime now and would be more than willing to hear what you have to say to this, so please if you have any queries ask away!

I anxiously await your reply-Jay
