"Weed should be legal" speech? ?

I do find that train of thought to be rather... not smart. People will use it, kill others accidently or intentionally, damage property, all that stuff. Its kinda like saying lets just legalize murder because people will just kill anyway. Okay thats extreme, but w/e.

Well actually there is no evidence to support WEED has ever caused anyone to die..
Cigarettes and alcholol on the other hand... well

Maybe i hsould start off with how bad those two are then go SURPISE! weed should be legal.
I can make it sound smart.. however there will be alot of ppl to disagree with me no matter what ...

First off legalizing weed isn't going to be the downturn of society, all drugs are including tobacco and alcohol. Weed just isn't that strong, so not many people really fuck around with weed already. The people with problems are the people on harder drugs. I am on neither side of this fight because I don't use the stuff but I don't care if people use it or not. I also believe it is a waste of time and money to argue over little stuff like this when there are such bigger issues in the world today.

True true. Go for it if you think you stand a chance with it. I made a speech in SS once about how abortion should be legalized and accepted in rape cases. Of course I ruined it at the end after I got my point across by turning it into that reeses puffs commercial. "I was talking to my sister and she was saying how she supports abortion for women who were raped, so I asked her how this was different and she was all, 'Never mind that I had reeses for breakfast.' I asked, 'You had candy? For breakfast?' so she replied, 'Not candy, reeses puffs cereal' so I tried a bowl and it was like a chocolatey expl-" Then my teacher cut me off and gave me a warning.

Its just the perfect speech to give to my class cause i already know what i might say and.. i dont care if people dont like my ideas. it wont stop me from doing ..

I just believe its more benifical if it was legal, taxes, and more smoke shops mean.. more money for the gov

Yes there are bigger issues in the world but none that drive or motivate me...
This was like a big heated discussion while i was in hs. I cant say i actually care, cause i'm givin this speech to my Communication class.. Which... has no legal representation --- in other words. it doesnt matter unless u go into chaos theory

I'm going to say no to the "legalize weed" topic, simply because:

1) It's way overdone, and
2) It'll make you sound like a pothead. Seriously, it'll make you look really, really bad. Don't use it as a topic.


Stay away from religion, politics, abortion and drugs. They're all overdone and will somehow cause you grief. And I typed that out before Googling that site, so that tells you how overdone those topics have become.

Don't talk about weed in your class. Your teacher will tune you out and not really give a crap what you're saying. Trust me.

Find something ELSE you really like. Does it have to be mainstream political? Or can it be anything YOU care about?

If it has to be mainstream, choose something close to what your hobbies are. Say, if you like video games, prove how they are not teaching the youth of tomorrow that guns are cool or vise versa.

If not, again, find something that you care about...just about anything would work. For my persuasive speech, I spoke about why they should teach Sci Fi in English classes...nerdtastic, totally...but I got an A for being different

Yeah, teachers love it when you come up with something different and off-the-wall, especially if you can be a bit entertaining while giving the speech. It keeps everyone interested.

Get some visual aids if you can. Preferably not bunnies on fire.

I think my teacher tunes me out regardless.. it normally isnt till i say "you suck" when she starts going "what you say?" me: "er.. whatsup?" college rocks

Devin and Shadowrider are absolutely right, if you're going to give a speech it needs to be something you're passionate about. Drugs really shouldn't be that thing. Also, consider your teacher's tastes when you choose your topic. I gave my last speech on how America needs a true separation of church and state. I absolutely rocked it, got the entire class behind me, a standing O, and had one of my classmates say I was as good, if not better than Barack Obama while giving that speech (high praise indeed from her, she's a huge Obama-junkie) then got an "F" because my teacher is a hardcore religious right-wing nutjob.

Good speech topic, that usually gets people thinking (although its almost excessively simple) is: if you could be any superhero, who would you be? Now, this isn't limited to superheros already created-- you're welcome to be creative enough to make your own. Explain about this superhero (mainly his powers or his morals) and claim why you would like to have them or why you mirror them already. After all, everyone can be a superhero. A lot of times, when we think of them, we only see them as being made-up people with creatively designed worlds. We don't see past the color or ink they're designed with. He doesn't even have to be a "super" hero. He can be a plain, ordinary protagonist that makes you believe that his morals should be mirrored in every day life. It sort of delves into the realm of "the world sucks, and I think this is how it could be fixed." Its more of a discussionary topic, but you could rattle on about it for hours. Guaranteed good score, if you do it right.

There's no reason for weed to be illegal anymore. Alcohol and tobacco do just as much damage, if not more, than weed could ever do. Anti-marijuana laws aren't as strict here in Canada anyway, but generally, I think that making it illegal just glamorizes it more. If it was legal, it would be no more exciting than booze. I figure if they just go ahead and legalize it they can stop wasting police time on people who are just high. Want to spend our tax dollars more effectively? Stop bugging the stoners. XD

I think for my topic im going to talk about immagration policies and how they dont work.. plus how we need immigrants to keep this economy more stable... (example: The more u pay someone to pick ur fruits.. the more money u end up paying for that fruit)
