I don't think our Earthen ethnicities can be translated to the world LFG is set in.

He probably used to be human. Unless his ears fell of some time, then he might be an elf too. Those two from all the races we'Ve seen are the only ones matiching his traits.
@hhh221 and Uga
Undead is more a state or condition rather than a race.

Undead, or given that he had to be something else before he died and went undead I figure human, and with all the speculation and facts given, I think it fits =P
This is the ongoing suspicion that he is this guy, there at the end.

Now! mabey i read into things to much and have a hyper active imagination too boot which sadley allows me to work out story lines very quickley and see possible sub plots but
The man on the left i belive is Richard in the past ..... and after that encouter is when richard slowly starts doing things subtly for the good of the group now could just be me but if so also answers the quest of this topic as well.

Ofcorse i could be wrong so dont flame me

My guess is that he use to be human... This post reminds me of the early days when people would go on about how this is just another WoW comic, but it is not. It has roots in all fantasy because Lar and Sohmer are smarter than we are.

I'd say he is a Lich. At least if you look at it from a D&D point of view.
A Lich Warlock with The Hellrime Blast (Ice) and Brimstone Blast (Fire) Invocations, also having The Dead Walk (Due to the creating of the skeletons at the beginning) and Vitriolic Blast (which is acid, kind of like what he used when he slaughtered himself in the plane of suck, judging from slime being the only thing left over of his "victim"). He also has the invocations Wall of Perilous Flame (the firewall), Hideous Blow, Eldritch Cone and Eldritch Doom. A few other invocations may be added but I can't remember him using them.
Spoken the geek has.

lol, those views seem possible. Nevertheless, Lich are Undead, just more... intelligent and much MORE immortal. So I agree with the Lich idea and maybe that old, withered mage might be Richard from a parallel universe within the space/time continuum. lol, either way, it seems quite logical.
