I was wondering if anyone on the forum lives in upstate New York? Because I have a friend who just opened a gaming store in Catskill New York. The store is called Kirwans game store and Its run for gamers by gamers, so if you can just drop by and check it out. wink.gif

You would never guess how hard it is to run a decent game store and still stay in buisness.

Selling only new games there is no chance you can compete with game spot or eb games.

Now adays people are all about the free bonus online give away crap.

The only way my store survives is due to giving more for used games and selling them less then EB.

3 Eb games opened along the same road.

I am a gamer and so is the stuff that works at this store.

You would be surprised how many people comment about how much cheaper we are then turn around the next time and go to EB anyways and spend the extra money there.

Tell your friend GL and make sure he does his research on the used games.

One of the things that Fat Cat Games does well around here is helping to find amazing independent games. I went in there once looking for something new to try out and they guy put a copy of Phantom Dust in my hands. This was when the game first came out in early Xbox era, and I'm still playing it.

Neither Gamestop or EB have done that for me.

heh, im enjoying england where we dont have your problems, we have "game" but they arent even that big, most independant game stores run better than game, the franchise, does anyway.

Im considering opening a gaming caffee at some point, pastries and computers is good enough for anyone, though im gonna get my law degree first.

Tell your buddy good luck man, business is hard these days, not like in 2000 when you could open any shop and you'd basically be assured revenue so long as you had a catchy slogan.

That seems like an interesting venture, if coffee and computers works, what about coffee and Call of Duty 4? Or Halo:CE? Just make sure you're using wired controllers and have the systems under lock and key so your stuff doesn't get jacked.
