Mind Flayer
Hello,

My first post here tongue.gif .
This is a discussion that I would love start, mostly because I'm a comic fan.

So here's the main question:
what did you think of The ultimates 2 (or if you haven't read it, but you should cause it's good, any comic you would like to through in the discussion pot)?

I hope for some cooperation rolleyes.gif .

Oh yeah, my answer:
It's weird, it's far-fetched, but it's a awesome.

That's that for now, more later.

greets.

I really enjoyed it but maybe that is a bit skewed after reading volume 3 of the Ultimates, Lords of Kobol that was a bad book. I'm looking forward to Ultimatum starting this month though and as always Ultimate Spider-man. That is about all my interest for 1610, in 616 I only care about Deadpool. What are you DC interests or are you like Downey and think "Fuck DC"?

I thought Ultimates 2 was pretty good, except it was painfully obvious that it was
Black Widow.
I was also bemused that France was part of the "Coalition to destroy America".

@Hunter: I havent read the ultimates 3, so no spoiling (yet tongue.gif). to your other question (about dc):
I don't read much of dc actually, not a big fan of superman scene, though I might read the best comics (according experts) to at least have an opinion on the matter. so no, not "fuck dc" for me (yet).

@Mantalord: I agree that it was good, but I think it's quite normal that entire countries want to get Captain America (aka Captain Awesome) down. It's quite realistic cause this guy is a super soldier and a super tactician.
going non-sequitur here so, yeah it was damn good. a lot of action combined with a plotline beyond imagination.

Some other questions though:
-have you read dark tower (marvel, 1, 2, perhaps 3) and what's your opinion on it?
-Lucifer (vertigo, I think), read it?

greetings
Hunter

Well I would wait for it to be collected into a trade then get a friend to pick it up, I felt as if it was not worth my money. As for DC I'm a hell of a lot more into Green Lantern, their big event is good but you have to have a working knowledge of DC to really get it, where as Secret Invasion is just big guns and Skrulls.

Cap is badass when it comes to that, unfortunately I find him to be too possessive of Jan and can see him doing nearly the same thing as Hank.

Can't say that I have even heard of them.

I think I'm gonna buy it anyway, mostly because I'm a big fan of the ultimate Universe (see last paragraph).
And yes it's true that Secret Invasion turns out to be another skrull action comic, but that's what I like about marvel (though I havent bought it, I'm a student = allowance). The action and realistic (as far as possible that is, it's still a superhero universe) people.

Second, Cap is obsessive, true. But don't you think this makes them more than the cliché superheroes who are above immorality and flaws in character? (=> see old comics, where most superheroes were almost Perfect in character)

Third, Lucifer and Dark Tower.
Some of the older generation probably read the books of the dark tower of Stephen King. Marvel made a most excellent, I dare say 'One of the most beautiful comics in the last decade', and I do dare say.
Lucifer is a more chaotic comic, of vertigo I think, but nonetheless a comic I appreciate (and that says a lot) greatly for it's styles that change between artists while keeping true to a good plotline, that sadly sometimes is quite chaotic.

I really like the Ultimate universe as well though I found UFF to be boring as hell until the Cosmic Cube arc, X-men has always interested me and I have always loved Spidey. That being said I am also a student and have a small budget for three books really, which are the two GL books and Deadpool. My one buddy picks them up so I can get through them.

That is a very true point about how heroes all use to be good ole boys and did the right thing always. Marvel did a very good job of this in both the Ultimate verse and the regular one, where Cable was seen as a rogue maverick when he wanted to save humanity from itself. DC has done the same in both that their regular set of books but also in there Wildstorm and Vertigo imprints. My favorite book from Vertigo is Y the Last Man.
