I think its safe to say as long as benny is alive, the group is immortal. If she could make it so it looks like Richard's head fwoom never happened, then she could do anything.

Benny almost had me there... for a moment I thought she was being all merciful and sweet. But nope... Rojave is just such an ass that he's worth killing twice.

Though I did enjoy the set up. I seriously thought Benny was being sentimental and merciful....she was being sentimental and spiteful.

Go Benny! I actually laughed harder at that--and the fact that Richard seemed very put out that his hard work was overwritten--than the fwooming from the previous page.

Great job. A little anticlimatic that another plot thread gets kinda nipped in the bud, but hey, character development is awesome.

I agree. It's a very nice contrast to the last page. I bet Sohmer and Lar were probably having a good laugh at us the last couple of days:

So, she heals him just to prove she can (maybe because she still felt guilty/sorrow over being unable to save Sayl), and then uses the mace to kill him dead.

Of course, it could be that she just wanted to use the mace. I think if I brought out a mace like that, I'd want to use it. I'd feel unfulfilled if I didn't.

EDIT: I didn't look closely at the last panel, but she just po'd Richard AND Cale. That is very impressive... Go Benny!

Also notice the expressions in the final panel. Richard and Cale both look notably annoyed.

Given Cale's earlier look of concern for Benny, he's probably a bit miffed at the fact that she healed Rojave just so she could kill him herself, in an act that certainly could no longer be construed as self-defense.

Richard is probably just annoyed that he was outdone by Benny. Head fwooming is one thing, but resurrecting someone just to crush their face is on another level.

Poor Benny, but I guess I say this from the empathetic female perspective. Neat little effect on her face in panel 4. I kinda wish we'd have an idea about what Sayl looked like, or maybe some kind of motivation into why Rojave didn't want him to marry Benny if there was anything outside of leading him to a more ambitious fate.

Ouch, and here I was thinking Rojave was gonna live.

Benny's healing skills are beyond reproach.
Not only can she make your face back to the way it was, but she also has the magical ability to restore facial fungus!

I suppose anythings possible when you can resurrect a pile of ashes.

So I just singed up to say this.

I love the way she resurrects him just to demolish his face again.

Also, Rojave probably didn't want his son to leave because you know, it's his kin. Maybe he had plans for his Sayl to take over the thieves' guild. No one would be quite happy over the fact their child is going to run away.

Edit: Cale is pretty much playing the average guy role in not seeing the emotional distraught Benny's going through as he's more concerned Benny just revived him to kill him. While Richard seems more pissed off that he didn't have the best kill and could care less about people feelings Then also I assume Pella can have a feel for what Benny's going through as she's obviously tearing up in panel four, while Rojave is distraught over killing his son. So much development going on for Benny on this page. Woo!

Number 1 in top 10 worst deaths:

Being ressurected after being overkilled by three weapons and your head being engulfed by flames, so your face can be crushed by a mace wielded by a pissed-off woman.

In panel 4 Benny's face chest and arms become consumed by a portal thing. Is that her returning his soul from the nether? Seems to be going through a lot of effort just to bash his face in (although it is quite satisfying).

I was getting worried there for a moment, I really was. After last page and the lead-up on this one, I was seriously starting to lose faith in Benny's apparent badassness.

Now, I must go to commit ritual suicide.

But before that, I gotta say panel 5 is the best bit of gore Lar's drawn up to date. (That I've seen anyway.) I almost want to make it my avatar.

There's a new uber-baddass in town, and it's not Richard! Rivalry between Benny and Richard? This could be good if Sohmer puts some effort into it. I agree with what you say about Cale, too.

Anybody reading my comments knows I wasn't all that impressed with the previous several pages. I've been wondering if Sohmer has been too distracted with the movie or wedding or something. I saw nothing wrong with Lar's art, but the pages either were one big fairly random joke that couldn't have taken very long to write, or they had stuff going on, but didn't seem fleshed out. I sure don't see anything wrong with the current page, though. If Sohmer manages to keep this level of quality going, I'll be very happy.

EDIT: It occurred to me that the last panel might have been even better if Pella had been added with a stunned look on her face to contrast with Cale's and Richard's, but that's being very picky and the page is crowded as it is.

I don't think Benny brought Rojave back "just to smash him with the business end of her angry staff".

She resurrected him so that he could help her get to the dungeons, as she said in 182, but immediately regretted her decision because Rojave was more trouble than he was worth. Hence the mace-age.

It'd just be a guess, but it looks to me that Richard isn't angry, as much as intrigued. Intrigued by the guilt or remorse that Sayl had for killing his son. (I don't know if Richard is accustom for feeling guilt or remorse.)

And also as a sidenote, I think Rojave isn't a villain, so much as he just wanted his son to be the best, the very best he could be. (Honor, Family, Thieve's Guild etc.) Rojave did what he needed to do to make his son reconsider his path in life by stopping the union of the two.

Sayl challenges with fight to death (unexpected father has no choice).

Battle that no one really wants commences. Lives were made miserable.

Just because she has the ability to do something now doesn't mean she could always do it.
