That is also true, but since I started reading this comic from strip 1, day 1, I fell in love with him as soon as I layed eyes on him. Ever since, I've been a fanatic and have introduced well over 30 people to reading LFG daily. Not sure if they signed up in the forums yet, but you'll know when they do

If it weren't for Richard I probably wouldn't read this comic. He's what makes it an entertaining comic instead of a strip about a few people right out of WoW. It would still be good without Richard I suppose... but with a very, very dfferent feel to it.

I'm confused as to the sheer amount of people requesting to join. Sure, that's the way a 'club' usually would work, but this ones only prerequisite is liking Richard. If you like Richard, you're already part of the club. What's the point in asking?

I don't know if they can enforce that or even want to. Newbies who actually read and try to follow rules are a good thing, IMO, but it looks a little silly. I started writing a reply a couple of days ago before spotting the requirement, myself. Personally, I think that simply signing an oath in blood to feed your firstborn to Richard should be enough to let you join.

Yep, I (we?) asked because the requirements say you have to if you want to join, so if you want to join it's sort of logical to ask . There's no lunacy in actually reading the opening post.
I suppose they can enforce it, but only to the extent of saying that we're not official members- but I doubt there's anything to stop us taking the sig anyway .

Props again for being willing to read and obey rules.

One thing blazing swords may not have thought about is that he/she put requirements on him/herself and iloverichard. If they want to be gatekeepers they need to pay attention to who is applying and respond back quickly. I just checked, blazing swords hasn't logged in a week, and iloverichard hasn't in a couple of days, so they probably don't even know who has requested to join since then.

Not being sheep, just if you want to join someone's club and they say you need permission, it's still their rules and still their club. If people don't like the rules you need to follow to join, they're free to just not join. Those of us who don't mind asking to join a club though are going to ask if we want to be a part of it .

There is a different thread for fanfics. I don't know how mature you mean, but one thing you could do is use a place like fanfic.net, and post a link. Look and see what other people have done in the fanfic thread. Most of all, when in doubt, ask the mods.

He's funny in a horrifying way. He's not as bad as Happy Tree Friends horrible funny, and not quite bordering South Park horrible funny--he's evil funny. Yet we know there's more to him than mindless slaughter, which is in its own way, funnier.

Moral of this story: He's funny until he's scary. Am I making any sense?

Didn't you basically answer your own question? He is horrible in funny ways. Look at old (before 1960) Tom and Jerry cartoons for another example of extremely violent humor. The way Tom and Jerry treat each other is horrible and funny at the same time. This is nothing new.

Meh! Actually, I was checking Wikipedia to see when the Chuck Jones "cute" Tom and Jerry cartoons came out. Those and some Czechoslovakian ones were much less violent. Later, Tom and Jerry even became friends! Blasphemy! That had better never happen to Richard!

Gatecrashers like me don't worry about membership lists, though. Somehow asking to join seems almost inappropriate for a fan club for Richard -- maybe for Cale -- but not Richard. Would Richard ever ask to join a club? I don't think so! I wouldn't think he would want his club to have leaders or gatekeepers. He's too much of an anarchist for that, IMO.

I'm not blaming anyone for asking to join; The first post said you had to. It just seems odd that the requirement existed in the first place.

I would be tempted to say the thing to do is to start a new thread for Richard fans with no club membership required, except for the fact that the mods don't like having two similar threads.

My concern about this thread is that the title calls it a "Club", the sub-title says: "new, impruved, and i have premision to restart it!" (original spelling) and then the first post says: "if you wish to join, first ask me or iloverichard and if we okay it, post this on your sig." If you put that all together, I couldn't blame someone for thinking they weren't allowed to post in this thread without permission from blazing swords or iloverichard. Those of us who have been around for a while know better, but I'm not sure about the newbies.

That bit about blazing swords having permission to restart the thread is misleading, I think. The old fan club thread was [post=278442]shut down only because they weren't talking about Richard[/post]. Anyone could have started up another Richard fan thread anytime they wanted, as far as I know. No special permission should have been required. But if it is misleading, then why didn't the mods do something about it? If I'm wrong, please correct me.

If blazing swords took the time to create artwork (the banner), I think he has the right to have people ask before they use it, but that's as far as it goes, I think.

However, when is the last time Iloverichard or blazingswords actually posted in here?
