On Topic: Why gank the dead guy? Literary device to demonstrate just how big of a screw up Rojave's guild made. Think of it as a form of hyperbole. If Rojave's guild had ganked, say, Pella, and then the group wasted the guild, you could say that the guild was at least smart enough to kill one member of the group. Since it was Richard, it more effectively shows that the guild is about as dumb as a box of rocks for attacking the group.

I mean, look at what happened to the Legaran vessel that shot not one, but two harpoons into Richard's back. I think FWOOM says it all.

(C'mon. We all know the guild is gonna get thrashed either way.)
