Well, this will be fun, and on a side note, you can see them gathering in the panels leading up to it in the background!

I've come out of hibernation long enough to say, I don't understand how characters can use death as a threat here, I mean Cale was "Fooshed", was in a bag for a while, and he came back fine. After that, who is afraid of death? Specially when you have a healer that can fix anything, are healers like her just restricted to the Sisters, and thus making them rare?

Badass Benny. Mmmmmmmm. Gimme a moment....mmm....soak it in....

*hem*

'Miscellaneous' eh? They sure think alike; maybe this 'marriage' dealy isn't as far-fetched as it could be.

Soo, what's with the transition between panels nine and ten? In panel nine, Richard is facing the archers (you can tell by the way his arms are positioned, and you can see his jewel), yet in panel ten they're shooting him in the back.

Sure, you could say there are archers behind him too, that they're completely surrounded. But that wouldn't explain why the archers in panel nine are cocked and ready to go, yet no shots were fired from that direction in ten. Usually, when the arrows start flying, they all do.

*anticipates epic battleness*

Also, angry Cale. :3 He's getting better at that.

Let's go with what you said, he is surrounded, the shots were fired from behind him and Sohmer decided to draw it from a different angle, it could explain it.
I do like the way Cale is realizing that not everything can be sunshine and putting the angry face will get things done, unless they want to face the consequences.

Edit: Which one is harder to draw: From the back being shot, or from the front as you're falling from being shot in the back? Also, which one creates a more dramatic effect? That could be the reason for the change of angles.

Agreed. They're surrounded by archers, you can see them moving about earlier, why is it only Richard that gets hit, and only in the back?

Still, looking forward to some ass whoopie.

He looks like a bloated, water-logged corpse. Richard just looks...well-preserved.

"We've just met." Ahh, how I've missed this kind of humor.
I think Richard's back is turned though, the way his hands are drawn suggests this.
Maybe the jewel was an oversight?

Edit: I always wonder how villains and/or allies always seem to know what the group is after.
It's not like theve openly discussed their plans openly in the city, unless someone blabbed about it off-screen.
Then one of the thieves guild members could've overheard it all. (The part about rescuing the pirate is what I'm ranting about.)

It's the thieves' quarter. The locals prefer to go out after dark so of course they get pale.

Did Pella's axes get spikier?

Oh, and am I alone getting the odd feeling that Rojave came to warn them about the assassins? I mean, his wife may be estranged but she's still sexier when she's not a rotting corpse.

It's kinda hard to take the "sexier when not a rotting corpse" line seriously on this forum when about half the forum population are obesssively hankering after a fictional walking, talking, dried up old dessicated carcass so much they have foam coming out of the corners of their mouths. laugh.gif

Let's briefly assume that Richard fangirls are making an exception for Richard and don't generally get turned on by decaying corpses.

I've seen Marilyn Monroe's autopsy photo. It was not sexy.

In regards to everyone else knowing, it's a classic requirement for any story.

It goes along the lines of.."In any fiction, practically EVERYONE except for the hero or heroes knows EXACTLY what they're doing, why, and often, what the result will be. This includes most villians, since it causes a great sense of drama. However, at times, to make the heroes the awesome that they are, they will do things that surprise everyone else. Even the main bad guy. "

It's something like that. biggrin.gif

I don't play WoW, and I have little experience with table-top RPG's, but from the little I know I'd definitely attack the dwarf first.
Ston
Dwarves aren't traditionally magic-users. You can safely kill them from range with a bunch of archers. Magic-users, on the other hand, can be unpredictable. Not all spells need to be spoken to be cast, and many things can be enchanted to release power at a thought. And they are usually pretty good at dealing death from range.

Of course, they've gone and given Richard an itch. And we know how he likes to scratch those. Up-close and personal.

Benny likely didn't get shot because, well, she's his wife. I don't know about you, but if the boss tells me to make sure and not hit his wife, I'd better make sure the fletching on the arrows doesn't even brush her. They guy looks large and in charge, and he obviously wasn't the target.
Lunaya
Ooh, everybody's at their coolest today. Benny's being calculating, Cale's being quietly badass, and Richard is feigning obliviousness. I love this update. biggrin.gif

Weird how he didn't know what exactly Richard was, he could tell Cale wsas an elf and Pella a dwarf.
Richard is so damn adorable in that first panel though. XD

Now I cant wait to see the upcoming battle and the look on Rojave's face when he archers are killed in one blow from Richard's 'Fwoom.'
Unless they've set up wards by then, if that's the case Richard might use his monkish abilities. xD

Considering that the people just let Richard in without much protest,
I supposed they haven't heard of Richard's true colours quite yet.

Richard has been shot with arrows (not that it really does anything to him).

They are surrounded by archers in a dark alley.

Benny just matter-of-factly tells her "husband" he doomed himself.

Pella grins...

And Cale'anon just looks menacing... Cale... Menacing!

Hmmm... don't think so... you're right about the markings, they look suspiciouisly similar...

but Roj Roharv Rojave has too many fingers to be of the same race...

Perhaps the eye colouration is part of the wedding? Ritual tattooing perhaps? Magical bonding allowing them to share the sights of the other? Or maybe some type of magical enhancement allowing theives to see in the dark?

Or, perhaps, I have no idea what I am talking about?

Yeah, that's it. The last one.

It's not stupid at all. No matter what time of day or night, there is a lightsource. If there was no light then there would be nothing to see but black panel after black panel, and how "thoroughly stupid" would that be?Shadows are vital to any picture and the shadows are all blues and other cool colors which is also accurate for a night scene.

I don't believe the "markings" around Benny and Rohave's eyes are markings at all.
Perhaps they were drawn there to add a little depth to both of their faces?
Ouranos
I'd guess the marking were a ritual, because he is not green, she is. That would come into play before small markings would as a racial characteristic. And Richard, in 181, was looking at the other pirate. Volume 2, while they were on the pirate ship the first time. Go look around at the pirates, especially right after the battle. Recognise anyone? And Richard had his back turned to Rojave almost the whole time. I'd say the jewel mark was not there to represent the jewel, but just to fill in depth abit, because his hands are definately remaining behind his back.

Are you kidding me?

Have you ever been out at night? Yes, there's a little light, that doesn't mean someone wearing a hat would have a clearly defined shadow on his face while his features remain visible.

It's good that you noticed the shades of blue in the shadowed parts, but you seem to miss the fact that everyone else's complexion is almost exactly the same shade as it is in the daylight panels, which would mean that alley would have to be lit up like a football stadium.

Richard is with them now. Very bad things are about to happen.

By the way, I miss Krunch. Of course, if Krunch were with the party, Rojave wouldn't have lasted more than half a panel.
Pitmedden
Interesting call on the "tatoos" around the eyes. However, Rojave's isn't as large as Benny's, if you notice. It could be a guild marking, though....

As for the lighting, they're next to a wall. Be it an inner wall or outer wall, I'm sure it's well lit for security reasons. Don't want sappers to sneak up, and undermine it.
Venine
Emo murdering Cale is back, bring it on bitches.

Another doublecross of sorts.. why am I not surprised? Personally i'm amazed Richard thinks he has an Itch, it'd more like a case of flea's or something with that many, but who knows..

Wtb violence.
