Whelp, there's that 'Marilyn Monroe Richard' we were talking about waaaaay back.
Now those of you who are just a little less scarred from this because of Rabies' Kilt/Speedo Richard must pay us both* undying homage.
For those of you who were unlucky enough to see that with virgin eyes, I laugh unmercifully at your plight and the impending psychiatric incarceration.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAA!!
*They were my idea after all....but Rabies provided the imagery. The horrible, horrible, wonderfully scarring imagery.

Though I do love a good Marilyn Monroe gag and small tribute to Spaceballs
(or Star Wars, it could go either way)...seriously, WTB [Plot Progression]. It seems like the story's starting to really drag and suffer due to all these visual jokes and gags. I mean, the plot's always come fairly slow, but it seems to have ground to a halt. Nothing truly relevant has happened in the past...what, eight pages or so?
I'm starting to get a little bored with it. Gags and all. Hopefully it'll pick up soon.

While all of you are focused on the Marilyn Monroe Richard, you forget the more vile thing in the comic! Look behind Richard (a little to the left...there you go!) THE MONKEY! We just went through a Wizard of Oz segment, and there's a monkey with a funny hat? Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

It looks more like an Aladdin reference to me, along with the middle-eastern architecture of the Bazaar area (you could see in the last page that the city has a number of different sectors with different architectural influence.
Anyway, I agree with Silverknight about wanting to ge back to the story, but this page was freaking hilarious. I love the way he's considering it in the first panel.

Way to horrify the masses, Richard!
And they've made it to the city! Once again the plot continues but such progress is completely ignored by those bitching about lack of plot development. Remember folks, half of a plot is actually getting there and they've been doing that since the story started. My guess is three strips at most before something significant characterwise happens.

Ok, so I have been an LFG fan for several months now, ever since a friend recommended it to me. Since I have read every page and have even ventured into the forums several times to see what others are saying, but I have never registered or posted.
Today I can hold my silence no more:
OMG WTF LOL!

No it isn't.
Not even Tolkien takes so much time describing uneventful travel, not unless you read a page every couple of days.
Face it, the plot hasn't progressed in weeks.

I have to agree....Im a Richard fan till the very end, but everything must move forward and gags are meant to be, well, just gags. However every page lately seems to be just about setting up for a joke. I have faith though that the next page will give us what we want. Keep up the great work, just remember balance young grasshopper.

Heh. Blatant fanservice for those who weren't into the pillow fight. Pella and Benny being alive was probably a turn-off for some of the people around here.
Not much plot? Well, at least they have a quest / goal. Something more reasonable than overthrowing the entire government.

Yeah, but I think it's more than just Aladdin. That's a stereotypical Northern African bazaar with fantasy stuff added to it. You've got the blue elf wearing a veil and a guy selling Persian rugs in there too. A monkey wearing a fez supposedly helping the vendor was a typical part of it. Besides, this monkey didn't seem to have wings. The Wizard of Oz flying monkeys were copied from the bazaar monkeys. Or copied from the organ grinder monkeys that were copied from the bazaar monkeys.
Hmm. Richard could probably give "organ grinder monkey" a new meaning.

Okay. Benny once told Cale that Tim and Sooba should be left at the gates, since they would stand out to much.
What a load of crock. The inhabitants of the city stick out like a sore thumb, and one in panel one, one of the characters is even keeping a lizard-like dog on a leash. Something tells me that even Tim and Sooba won't stand out.
Other than that, I'm really hoping for some plot-development. The gags were fun at first, but to much of a good thing...

Also, Jawas.
Plot-wise (though it's strange I can even think about something else than... the horror...[drain cleaner][drain cleaner][drain cleaner]): I imagined Legara won't be so cosmopolitan. So it's an empire instead of a nazi-like dictatorship I thought it to be.
Schnoodledorfer
Sep 4 2008, 04:38 PM
I'd bet that a lot fans of
Badass Richard are having the same reaction today.
Legara is a garrison town that expanded and became the center of a kingdom. I don't think anyone is sure exactly what Temmet is yet; he seems to be some sort of power behind the throne. Maybe it's because he controls the military and the king is weak. I just guessing that you got the idea it is a dictatorship from him.

I thought the pattern was just associated with a Scottish clan originally and then argyle socks became a fashionable way for guys to say, "I am a snobby twit."
