Although when they do pop culture reference/cheap joke pages, I have to admit they usually have a bit more content and a higher amusement factor.

On the whole, I'm still happy with it, as I have a bit more patience than the rest of you.

No matter how much you like the comic (or anything else for that matter), now and then you're going to run into something about it you don't like.

The Smurfthing is blue because Richard tried choking it, only to drop it when distracted by the other ones trying to tie down Felbunny.
It's only plausible, since it was already purple.

He choked it so badly it stayed permanantly blue....from bruising and lack of oxygen.
Then he dropped it.

Ugh, I am tired. It's a mouse on a leaf but the way the tail curves makes it look like a face. There's a word for that phenomenon, I'll be damned if I can remember it.

If I can see normally, they're now at the borders of the City of Legaria, Which would mean that the plot has moved, and the "Are we there yet?" lines were relevant. I think everyone's just disappointed that there wasn't more content in the page. Usually there's more going on in a single page.

There's something about the style of the first two panels that looks positively awesome.

I liked this page. For some reason the "No." "No." "NAY." replies cracked me up, and when I say that blue thing I immediately knew something terrible was going to happen to it... and this makes me a bad, bad person but I felt rewarded when I saw the wallet. XD

Would you rather have had the comic take weeks to get to legaria which would make some people mad, or make it rolled up into one spicy, funny barrito which others won't like? Its damned if you do and damned if you don't. Not ranting, just pointing that out. I'm aware that we have a few people here and there who are not going to be happy no matter what the page contains. That's just the way it is. However, most of the time Sohmer does a good job of advancing the story enough to keep us interested while dragging the thing out enough to not run out of story. Usually the page does have more than just one pop-culture-reference-turned-into-a-joke, so compared to past pages, this one seems to leave something to be desired.

Oh, and here. How's this?
I hope it is satisfactory, because getting it small enough to meet signature limits and still keeping the text readable while using Paint was a bitch.

* I edited it to try and improve the background color, making it match the forum background, but unless someone knows how to make the background transparent in Paint, it won't always exactly match.

Great page today. Are we there yets will never stop being funny. Neither will skinning Smurfs.



On a random note, I love Richard's outfit. It's got a neat, roomy but never clingy thing going for it.

Hello all! I joined and wish to say that this page is phenomenal. And not only hilarious with the skinning of smurfs and overused phrase during road trips, but I love the coloring of the panels in this page. I don't know why it just stood out more than it normally does, but I really like the second panel with ben. Love the rain effect! It is amazing!

I can't help myself, Cale's wet-dog look cracks me up every time.

At least, the capital! Travel montages, what would we do without you?

I found it a bit weird that our "heroes" didn't meet anyone on their journey there, you'd think there would be scores of people traveling to and fro, peasants working the fields and orchards, carts taking stuff to the city.... but since a random encounter with Peasant #5 isn't plot-relevant I can live with the explanation that it was simply not shown. Or Cale and companions traveled off-road.

The city looks oddly... peaceful. Not at all properly fortified. But when you have a huge-ass wall going all around the lands surrounding the capital, no-one has probably tried to invade for centuries. Still, the road up on the hill is in bad repair. Foreshadowing?

Edited to add:
Wait, I just noticed the smudges and faint shapes down there on the road in front of the city gate. Those might be carts and people on horseback.

Yes, on first glance I thought it was a face, too, with the leaf shadow as the mouth. I'm not sure it's a mouse, though... it's green, maybe it's a fat chameleon.

Who is to say that purple and blue Smurfs are not related in some genetic way... But that was awful sweet of Richard to make Cale a Smurf-skin wallet. Not sure what paper money is going to be used in that wallet or Cale might keep some photographs of his children in there...

Just not sure WHO he is gunna have children with!

So.... Richard being nice... Whazzup wit dat? He has barely killed anybody lately! Other than the Smurfs, and that well, we do not actually have proof that any Smurfs were killed to be used as wallet material. I AM worried about Richard. He seems to be fine, but he has been quite lax in his killing sprees. Hopefully being in Legara will perk him up and he can get back in the fwoom of things. Poor guy must still be feeling the effects of his side trip to where the trial was...
