My take on this is that Pella and Richard were still linked until the second to last panel. Pella was the one singing, and she left him open for hugging. Thus raping his "spirit" (Think "personality" or "way of doing things").

Anti-climactic? I don't know. If the flashback hints at them splitting from the top to bottom, sooner or later Pella would've had "Anal Leakage of Undead Warlock". Now that's a medical side effect you don't hear about in commercials!

The theory of Benny being the elder's true-born daughter flies out the window, considering she's not the one trapped in Legara.

And does anyone else believe legara's forces tend to move rather slowly? The invasion should've started by now, but they seem to come to a complete halt now. Perhaps they feel that Cale should be allowed to finish his little side-quest first?

I doubt it. We've already seen most of what happened, and now that Richard is back, the plot will move on to Legara. Why waste time and comic space on further explanations, when such details are not essential for the plot?

I was surprised that Cale didn't immediately get maimed for all but 'glomping' Richard. As he said in the 'Plain of Suck' during his trial, he IS changing. It was rather cute, and it shows how attached Cale is to Richard... despite him being a manic homicidal sadist, pretty much EVERYTHING Cale is against.... I suppose you could call Richard a masochist as well... but if he can't feel pain, does that count?

So... Not that there has to be, but was there a purpose behind the "portal" spell other then a gratuitous panty shot?

If it's a large army it would move slowly. Supply wagons, siege engines, setting up camp and perimeter guard every night, etc'


ETA: and as for the violation of Richard's spirit, I don't want to dampen anyone's "enthusiasm" but I think it's just that as another person might consider possession to be a violation of their body, Richard's considers his possession of Pella a violation of his spirit, or at least claims he does.

Even so, it seemed the legarans were making good progress a long time ago. That outpost they've built was quite impressive (you know, where the group was tortured), and if they've built more of those, it would show that the invasion has already begun. Those outposts could supply the armies of Legara too, that would make an invasion run a lot faster.

I figured out what exactly it was that was(is) bothering me about Richard's 'grand entrance' this time around.

It's completely un-Richardy.

In fact, it's so un-Richardy, its almost exactly like what you would expect to see if two long parted soccer moms had a chance encounter in the grocery store.

OTOH if the one outpost (the so-called "staging and fallback point") was the only significant Legaran presence, then the Krunch/Ray'd breakout skirmish probably hit Legara's plans pretty hard.

Anyways, w00t! Richard's back! And apparently he's picked up some musical habits from Pella.

I also have to say, the whole spiritual violation was a much better way to spin the inevitable "dick inside pella" joke...
