I've noticed in the comic that Cale has been referred to as a boy a couple of times. How old is he supposed to be? Since he's young, I'm assuming he's in his late teens or early twenties. Any ideas?

He's an elf so my guess would be somewhere between 110 and 250 years old...

I'd forgotten about the concept that elves age differently. Thanks.

I'm sorry I snapped at you. I just found the answers to my post a little confusing.
MrEasterband
I am all serious (Just look at my avatar). Since elves don't reach adoulthood untill 110, Cale can't be younger than that, but he seems to be pretty naïve so he can't be concidered as old for an elf, yet he has matured some over the pages, but deep inside he is still that good ol' naïve poor smuck that made him likable on the first page, so if I were to guess for an actual number... I'd say that Cale is about 157 years old... but that is just guessing.

Yes, and I've noticed that you're a jackass. Unfortunately, there is no cure for that.

Before you get out the flamethrower, that's just me being a smart ass. I know, I am too sensitive sometimes.
Grym
Bah. Feelings.

We don't know how Elves age in this universe. It's not exactly stereotypical Fantasy, so they could be faster lived or slower lived than humans. Or they could age at the same rate.
Darkhawk
They've also never stated what type of elf he is. Sure, most elves have the same kind of aging cycles....but some last longer and mature differently, while others are shorter.

And like Grym stated, as far as we know, in that universe elves age like humans. *shrugs*

Screw that. All that matters is the imminent downfall of society as we know it and the destruction of all mankind. If I'm going around improving the quality of life for these peons, then all I'm doing is giving them a false sense of security in their future. I mean, that's something, sure, but I should be contributing more directly to the effort itself. *gets back to re-legalising CFCs*

If elves in LFG age similarly to humans, I still think Cale is no older than his early 20s, though he could just as easily be 18 or 19.

As I have speculated in another thread before, it may well be that Cale is physically an adult, but not yet sexually mature, which is why he seems so naive when it comes to women and doesn't seem at all interested in Benny or Tah'Vraay (or whoever floats his boat). Humans are the only ape species to be neotenic: We become able to procreate long before we are fully grown, and women are fertile every month. (The youngest recorded pregnancy gave birth at five years of age, although that girl showed massive hormonal abberation and had had in fact her first menses shortly after birth. But pre-teen pregnancies at nine or ten years of age are sadly becoming more frequent in countries where good nutrition leads to early onset of puberty.

With elves, a usually long-live race, it may well be that they do not become fertile until fully grown, or that their women are only fertile and interested in mating once a year or so (Vulcan Pon-farr, anyone?). Otherwise we'd be up to here in elves.

We can probably agree that Cale is old enough that he is allowed to stay up as long as he wants. And run with sharp pointy objects (like swords). And not wear pyjamas with teddy bears on them.

"Imminent downfall of society as we know it"? A kindred spirit! You, my friend, sound like solid henchman material! (On the other hand, do I want a henchman with high-flying ambitions?) Let's go light on the "destruction of all mankind", though, eh? Doomsday weapons are highly overrated, and it's hard to SHOW THEM ALL! when they are all, you know, dead. Where's the satisfaction in that? Besides, any poser with a facemask can call himself "Dr. Doom" these days, but to be a real villain takes style.

besides doomsday devices to often have there scematics leaked to the rebels that will unduobtedly plague your realm or the rebels you have captured (assuming you were not smart enough to execute them off the bat) will always get to the devices control room/center/node and disarm it with 2 seconds left (which is why i set all my bombs to blow up at 7 seconds left). personally my way of ruling a realm with tan iorn fist is to 1: to stop rebels from getting a symbol by sending a henchman into villages and give an impassioned speach about hte evil of your rule and how they should rise up about once a year so that when the real thing shows up it won't work, 2, if i ever find my greatest weakness i would immedietly destroy it if possible or if not i will not keep it near me it will be at the bottom of my volcano of evil guarded by my elite troops and no less then 3 dragons and four pulse cannons, also you should not give into maniacle laughter while stress relieving it will fatally distract you at a moment of weakness.

You misunderstand. I don't plan on killing off the entire human race just to stay behind and gloat. If it takes 'em all with me, I'd not mind dying for the cause.* As for the 'henchperson' bit, I'm more of a 'second-in-command' type of individual. Ya know, keeping things running, letting the big man take the fall sort of thing. It's pretty much the leader bit, but with less attention on you, so more gets done.

*My current fave is somehow replacing the sun with a black hole of equal diameter. Wasn't thinking about the song when I came up with it, but hey, why not. It's a good song.

generally speacking its usually the second in command that keeps the whole operation going smoothly or who's really running the show dtake out the second in command and the common troops lose their link to the great leader.

he must be blood-elf. I know that the LFG world isn't based in the WOW world, but Cale'anon has the same skin color as a blood-elf, plus his race turned 'evil', just like the Blood-elf's in WOW.

umm it seems more like that the Vullii was always evil and not all the blood elves are really evil for instance alot of them dont really hate the alliance most of them just hate the Scourge and Arthas along with the rest of the Burning legion

That's a bit of bizarre logic. Because of the skin colour? wacko.gif

Cale looks exactly like a standard elf, period. Back in the days when most fantasy authors copied Tolkien, High Elves had pale skin and either dark or blond hair, or occasionally red hair. Then people started adding a bit more variety, with blueskinned ocean-dwelling sea elves and similar. Then TSR invented evil "dark elves" and gave them black skin and white hair and red eyes, because, you know, black = evil... and it's a small miracle no-one was crushed by falling anvils. Subtlety? What's that? And lo! D&D saw countless elvish subraces of every conceivable colour scheme, including Moon elves with blue hair.

Then the WoW designers felt they wanted to be fancy and made a race of good elves with blue skin and giant animé ears. And even later, they decided to add elves to the Horde, too, but the darkskinned elf slot was already taken and they wanted to make them visually distinct, so they simply inverted the colour scheme and took a bunch of High Elves and made them eeeevil. *shrug* Hey, in the video game Sacred all "dark elves" are albinotic, with white skin and hair, because they live underground. Skin colour proves nothing. Rule of thumb is, the evil elves have to look freakier than their good cousins. (Or wear T-shirts with "Evil and loving it!" on it. Bonus points when the shirts are made from the skin of their slaughtered enemies.)

Cale is probably descended from the Gamlon elves, not from the evil Vulii. Just because Richard thought Cale was a Vulii when he first met him doesn't mean it's true. Otherwise, why would Lar and Sohmer drop that MASSIVE ANVIL about the last surviving Gamlonians fleeing to the Wetlands? Chekhov's gun, people.

Oooh, I remember that(Probably cuz i re-read the entire comic today out of boredom)
And it was the wastelands, not wetlands...
For some reason, I keep thinking he meant kethencia, but at that time, it was a beutiful city.
But, there's one other possibility i can think of:The territory of the bloodrage/sisterhood and everyone else.

edit:
I stad corrected.
It IS the wetlands...

And because this thread veered so far off topic:
I'd say Cale is no older then 150, and no younger then 90.
Wait, make that no younger then 50, since elves still act like kids during that age.And Cale was very child-like when we first met him' not to mention naive and completly clueless.

And now for something off topic(I'm really sorry if it's WAY off topic >>)
