Okay, i love geeky tattoos. And LFG is my favourite online comic, infact, favourite all time comic. Second is LICD.
I REALLY want a LFG tattoo, but i'm really not sure what quote or of who. Probably richard tbh, but i dunno what like or with what quote or if there should even be a quote etc
Ideas ?
If i've posted this in the wrong place feel free to move it : )
Also i won't reply from the 24th to the 2nd 'cause i'll be away on holiday ^^

Of course you're going to do a Richard tattoo. You could decide on a Sooba tat, show the guy the picture, and when he holds that mirror up its gonna be Richard. No arguments.

Don't get it on your chest...
Here's why: You're going to get yourself a wonderful girlfriend, you'll date for a long time, your shirt will come off at some point. She'll see this tattoo, she'll look up at you, eyebrows drawn down and her forhead furrowed and she'll say:

How has this not been suggested yet? Whatever pic you want (dramatic works good).
with the words: FOR PONY!
Should you find yourself a new sweetie like snuggles said just give her (or him?) the nickname Pony and say it means you'd do anything for them.
The scene in which Richards first says it is good for an image, and can be directly copied.

Look, I'm all for tattoos (and I have several friends with tattoos), but...
...
are you people completely bonkers?

A tattoo is
permanent , in case you haven't noticed. Yes, even the modern laser removal isn't perfect and can leave scars. Will almost certainly leave scars if it's a large tattoo with strong colours that need several sessions for the pigments to destroy. (Not to mention the cost for removal. Or the problem if the tattoo artist you went to did shitty careless work and messed up the picture, or didn't pay attention to keeping the needles sterile and the whole thing gets inflamed, or...)
I don't know the age of most of you, but a lot of people here on the forums are age 18 or below. I won't even ask how you will finance a large colored tattoo, that's your problem. I bet you a thousand dollars that 3 years from now, you'll be a big fan of something else, and you don't want a jolly picture of a
fricking cartoon undead or a stupid catchphrase about eating babies anywhere where a girlfriend, boyfriend, or
employer can possibly see it, unless you plan on living off cold pizza in a webcartoonist's booth at a convention for the rest of your life. Or plan on becoming a tatoo artist and tattooing your whole body with toons and exhibiting yourself on TV, good luck with that.
Seriously, do yourself a favor, take one of these suggestions on this thread and
print yourself a t-shirt. Make as many t-shirts as you want, one for every day of the week.

1, i love geeky tattoos. Even if i grow out of lfg, which i will do in the end, nothing lasts for ever. I'll still have the tattoo to remind me of what i was like when i was younger etc
I am of age to get one and i have a proper job.
Girlfriend/boyfriend wouldn't matter. As the people i go for tend to love that kind of thing.
You know what, i may regret it in the future, but i may not : )
I'm just getting this as a try out, probably on the top of arm where no one can see under a tshirt.

I am not especially fond of tattoos, either -- and, actually, I agree that it is a bad idea to get such a permanent brand on your body, when you never know when your interests will suddenly and drastically change. T-shirts are so much more manageable. If, in a few years, you begin to hate it, you can give it away.
I encourage people who are considering tattoos to go with their gut feelings. There are things I have liked all my life, which I doubt I will ever forsake. Therefore, I accept the possibility that someone might, truly, never regret a silly tattoo, and will love it forever.
Personally, I cherish my body too much to mar it with a permanent illustration.... And it would be so distracting in the bedroom! I love to see quirky tattoos, though, especially on people who are happy about their ink.

Seriously Toby, you're really not consistently giving off the 'evil mastermind' vibe you exuded before. Of
course getting a tattoo of Richard holding a bucket is an incredibly stupid idea, with pitfalls out the ass. Yet as you realise this, instead of doing everything in your power to remove all doubt of anything bad possibly happening as a result of this pending bad decision, you destroy everyone elses efforts by pointing out what should be, for all intents and purposes, fucking obvious.
I'm disappointed. I really, truly am.

First and foremost, I am afraid that I have to agree with Tobrain. Tattoos are expensive and, not much to look after a year or so. I do speak from experience.
If you are going to insist on getting a tattoo, make it something personal and meaningful, not just something on a whim. Take the time to get to know the artist that you intend to get a tattoo from, MAKE SURE that the office/studio is clean and sanitary first and foremost. Then you need to make sure that you are comfortable with him/her, ask to see their portfolio, if they don't have one, just walk out.
if you can download the e-book "You and Your Tattoo," very helpful

No, no, I've got the perfect idea for a LFG tattoo... Richard's pose and line, "Come, then. Oblivion awaits." Or perhaps simply the next panel, I like the atmosphere in here!"
Or Richard holding Felbunny.
Or any of the characters singing.
Or just Benny.
But I think I've just fail miserably. This thread is over already, and yes, getting fandom tattoos are probably a bad idea. Hmm. Curse my random enthusiasm.

I agree with Tobrian and nothingbroken's sentiments on tattoos. A lot of younger folks just don't know what they're getting into, and don't realize that they're likely going to be bored of it very soon.
That said, I don't think a tattoo is an altogether bad idea. It just requires a LOT of thought beforehand. Kinda like marriage.
Think about it for a good long time. I'm talking about waiting at least a couple of months. Think about it now and then during the couple of months, and if a particular design you are considering still sounds like a good idea, then maybe you should get it.
I've thought about getting one, but never gone though with it. It's not the "OMG needles & pain!!" thing, it's the "I can't find a design I won't get tired of within a year" thing. I've downloaded images I liked, kept them on the computer for a while and looked at them now and then, but always tired of them. Plus I want it somewhere it can be easily hidden if the need arises, but I don't like tank tops or sleeveless tops or midriff-baring tops, so the usual places aren't going to work for me. Then there's the whole "tramp stamp" thing. If you don't do it right, you might think it looks cool, but others might not.
That's why I suggested the knife-in-the-chest thing. It looks cool, it's something you can have done very small if you like, and you can put it anywhere. On the chest above the heart is a good place, because if you need to look businesslike, your clothes will hide it (plus that's the obvious location). Same with the shoulder: You can show it with a sleeveless top or tank top, but hide it when you need to. Also possible with the ankle.
Plus, it's not plainly obvious that it's from LFG, so if you get tired of it or the whole "I love LFG!" thing wears off, well, it'll still look good as a tattoo. It's not "branded", so to speak. No one's going to know what gave you the idea for the tat unless you tell them.
And for the love of god don't get a quote - like others said, it's like a T-shirt: It's cute and funny at first, but you'll quickly tire of it. I intensely dislike T-shirts with sayings. They always get old fast.
I know I suggested the quote earlier, but like I said, I've tired of it. Again, that's why I don't have a tattoo. It sounded like a good idea three weeks or so ago when I suggested it, but now it doesn't sound so cute.
That said, it's still not plainly obvious it's from a webcomic, so if you really want a quote, at least pick something after giving it a good bit of thought. And have the wording tattooed very small.
The "Richard's eyes in the dark" one would be decent, too.
I suppose if you're into really cute fuzzy things, the bunny would work as well.

...
No. Just no.
Way too much quote, it would come off as
way too freaky, you'd have to explain it to everyone since it's kinda obscure if you're not into LFG (and having to explain your tat to everyone who sees it will become increasingly annoying), and you'd likely get tired of it before your next haircut. Hands by themselves just don't sound like a good tat. But hey, it's your body.

Pretend that I'm on holiday.
I like tattoos. My Earthdawn RPG character was an elven Nethermancer with tattooes over 90% of his body.
Unfortunately, he was still an apprentice, who had fled his village after fathering an illegitimate child (which was expressly forbidden by the lore because all Nethermancers of his Order had to be celibate), so he was going through a bit of an *cough* emotional crisis and his self-confidence was all shot to pieces. Which let to scenes like the following:
*adventurers wake up at night and find themselves surrounded by about fifty nasty-looking zombies*
*everyone looks expectantly at their buddy the Nethermancer, confident that he will do something*
Ork: "So, what's your estimate of our situation?"
Nethermancer: (looks around and wails) "We're all going to die!!"
Ork: "Dude, that was so not helpful...."
One would have thought that being an elf, having badass tattooes and badass spells like Bone Dance would have scored him the trifecta of coolness. Unfortunately, coolness is all about attitude.

I think the reason I don't have a tattoo yet doesn't have as much to do with me not finding a design I'll like after a few years as it does with me not wanting to have any permanent identifying marks on my person, should I desire to rob a bank or something in the future and have a chance at getting away with it.
