For fangirls, incredibly hawt with the same personality as he has right now (I wish)

He better be as awesome as he is as an undead

good point there...
Lady of the Thirteen Hells
Well, they called him 'Lord' Ashendale, which would lean more towards nobility than an elected office, but who knows? It's a good idea, either way.
I'm personally just dying to see Richard mortal. Will he still have magic as a mortal, or will he just keep ripping things apart with his bare hands? I hope he's a elf. That would be so hilarious.
But, the most important of all our concerns is this:
Will they be doing shirtless Richard comics now? wink.gif *begs*
ReD RhaPsoDy
You know...
I bet he had long, blonde hair, blue eyes, and had a whooole lot of fluffy pets..
Probably bunnies..
He is attached to that one bunny he rode as Tiny Richard...

...And I just know he had a cape!

I always thought that something about Richard reminded me of the Archmage in volume 3. Especially when Richard said "You seem familiar-" They both have a similar brow line and nose structure too. Just a thought.
ryannayr417
might just be similar art styles, or maybe they are from the same area, explaining why he seems familiar.
Rip Van Ishmael
I think about the whole bit with the threat against Richard being turned back mortal, and I keep seeing this image. Cale and co. are going about their war-machine building and someone notices a guy that wasn't there before sitting on a pile of logs looking royally pissed off. Said man is accosted (friendlily) by Cale, and mysterious guy just beats the shit out of him.

Well, He may not have been as awesome as he is as an undead. He doesn't want to be turned back, obviously, so I think that Lord Ashendale may be either not as funny, a weak little pooh, or just a boring character.

But who knows. *shrugs* mellow.gif
Grym
I'm guessing he was a lord.
Aeriosa
maybe we'll actually get to see Richards face

ohmy.gif
Darck
I'm guessing that he's afraid of being mortal again, because then he is human, and doesn't have all of his powers without sacrificing something, but being un-dead means you don't have to give anything up.

Plus, I'm guessing he hated being royal, because then he would have responsibilities.

Though, maybe he was a pimping hot guy when alive and had all these girls swooning over him, thus, he doesn't want that to happen again, because I'd imagine that'd be pretty annoying. XD

But those are my ideas for now. XP
Valmyre
If I had to guess, I would say Richard gave up his humanity in order to avoid some kind of emotion. Maybe someone he loved died or something. Just a guess based on how devoid of all emotion he is now. It would make sense that he wouldn't want to be human again then. Then again, maybe was a way he chose to obtain power. I dunno, guess we will find out soon enough though.
Aeriosa
no, it can never be soon enough. we'll just have to wait it out, though.

and i like youre theory, Val, but it seems like of cliche.
Chuint
I just cant think of what Richard would look like...
But, for some odd reason, I think of him as wearing brown monk robes with blue eyes and a bald head.
Heh.....chocolate flavor..

I can see it now...

Cale: Lala...

Or, he doesn't want to be mortal for, what i think is the most obvious reason. He kills, on average, how many ppl a day? When he's undead, no one can do anything about that, but when he is mortal, he can fell pain and actually die. I think there MIGHT be a person or two out there that may want some kind of revenge for a murdered family member or 7.
AzureSunrize
hopefully some miracle will happen and Richard shall be spared a fate worst than death....well that doesn't apply seeing as hes already dead. anyways who else hopes Richard won't turn mortal?? mellow.gif

Pardon me, my imagination is out of control

He was a sweet and innocent child, living in a small little village. He had long, fluffy brown hair and brown eyes. His village was destroyed by a horrible warlock, and by only fluke, Richard survived. He then sought revenge for the youth that had been taken from his and his family and friends that had been slain before him. He acquired the soon-to-be word of truth, and travelled far and wide in search of the warlock. After many, many years, a now grown-up, bitter, but still idealistic Richard confronted the warlock, and attacked him. However, Richard was no match for the warlock. Toying with Richard, the warlock cast a powerful spell that should have instantly killed Richard, but Richard moved, and it hit him only in the eye, leaving the marks around his eye. The warlock, thinking he had killed Richard turned to leave, but Richard lunged at him with the sword, and struck him in the arm. The warlock, very pissed by this, grabbed the sword, and plunged it into Richard's heart. Richard fell to the ground, his last wish that this not be the end of him, that he may not die, not yet. The magic that was in the spell the Warlock had cast resounded through is body, granting the essence of his most desperate desire. His heart continued to beat with the sword in it. The warlock, thinking the sword to be a nice trinket, pulled the sword out of Richard's chest, taking with it all the desperation, anger and hopelessness that RIchard felt as a human, along with all the rest of his humanity. His heart stopped beating, but Richard couldn't die because his heart was still alive in the sword, beating with magic and the anger that fueled him for revenge. He became the undead being that we all know now, but without any human feeling.

... and then he was all richardesque and started doing richard-y things.

and you deserve a cookie if you read all that. Go on, get yourself a cookie! you deserve it!

Lord_Loffen
Well, Something must happend very fast then.

You can say that Richard is immortal since he will return to a mortal, so that could mean his goal as Lord Ashendale was to be undead, but it could be the only choice to get immortal. Also, i don't think he is the Archmage. The Archmage were pretty powerful, changing forms, and he didn't die when he was killed as a boy. I rather think that the archmage tronsformed Richard into a immortal (undead).

He could also be a random elf, human or orc maybe (look at his jaws). but as far as we know, he had the same killing lust when he was alive, becouse he killed is father(to becoma a lord), married with someone, so he could be a lord or he could do something pretty special to gain the title. The one that i could find possible, but it's the first one which is most "Undead Richard".

Maybe we get to know something more about the little village up the coast

Anyhoo! After trying to read earlier and for some reason the website was down, then reading the newest page. OMG!!! I agree, the next one can't come soon enough.
TT;;;
I'm extremely curious on what he used to look and act like, yet don't actually want him to revert back, since the Richard we all know and love is just too good to be rid of. I mean, come on, what other comic have you ever read that a good guy likes to kill anyone he sees and has an obsession with eating babies? That's a first for me, and frankly, I love it.
Hopefully that doesn't make me sound creepy, but it's just hilarious in comic form. Real life, not so much, but comic yes.
xP
Now I'll just be sitting here til the next page comes out...

And that sword is known as "Sword of Truth"! o_O
johnnywhoa
Bah, to hell with the sword of truth! I'll stick with the Sword of Mostly Falshoods and the Stick of Lies!
craney
Or the really angry sword!
Amitt
yes. that sword became the sword of truth..
.....
and if the time comes when Richard, as an undead being, wields that sword, he will become for a time human, driven by the need for revenge. The moment the sword is out of his hands, he will return to the richard we all adore.

( gives everyone cookies)
Reptus
If Richard really is turned back to life, it should only be temporary and done in a humorous way. Preferably, he should be very handsome / cuddly, and that causes everything that he hates with all his being (extremely cute children, pretty peasant girls, and happy woodland animals) to congregate around him and start singing. Then Richard attempts to kill them all, until the slaughter is so great that the council decides that he really IS evil, and returns him back to undeath.

Richard is not human! I'll never allow that! >:|

Anyway, nice theory, that would explain why Richard's undead-part is so against finding the sword of truth, while his mortal-part, in the depth of his heart (or whatever beats, or beats not in there), keeps pushing him forward.

I'm sold. But you know what would make it even funnier for me? Everybody's singing and just when Richard's about to snap, Cale stumbles by and casually says, "Wow, Richard! You look great!" We'll be able to see the smoke and hear the screaming from miles away.

Singing is OK.

Excitement abounds, I almost can't wait...

just guessing... and i imagine more people have done the same
ElementEvil
We know a few things about Richard.

1.) He killed his father (We know he wasn't very cuddly as a human)
2.) Thought the Archmage looked familiar (He lived long ago and met the archmage, or saw a painting)
3.) Judging by how he doesn't want to live again. he probably went undead voluntarily.

Thing we can deduce from history and likelyhood.

1.) If his strength of magic is related to size, might it be related to whether he is undead or alive? Life is sooo weak laugh.gif
2.) I sometimes wonder if Richard ever used the Sword of Truth, He seems to know something about it.. from experience?

Fill stuff in I might have missed, or conjectures you might want to add. Correcting my mistakes is also approved.

I want to say he's either Royalty of Kenethcia and that Archmage was his teacher, or he was somebody that helped betray the city in the past and was cursed to save it. Either way, he's going to have to be a total opposite to Richard in life. The irony just begs itself to be used.
Amitt
Filling in gaps in my theory then...

Perhaps the village that Richard grew up in ( or city) was protected from the warlock that destroyed it. HOWEVER, his father, himself a power-hungry lord, betrayed the village and allied himself with the powerful Warlock. Later on, Richard encountered his father. If he was alive when he did, then he would have killed him out of anger. If he was dead then he would have simply killed him for fun. Since he found it funny, I think the latter.
As for archmage, well, he could be anyone. Maybe the warlock in disguise? Maybe a helpful old mage.
Vechel
Okay, my theory:
He was the mayor of a small town before he became undead. He was sick of them (a real Richard action) and when he became undead he had the power to do so. And we all saw that spendous video of Richard on YouTube, which he murdered.
He is still mayor only the town my be kind of empty.

And for that archmage and warlock business? Suprise me!
Ryan Sohmer and Lar Desauza have done it before and always will, for as long as they draw LICD and LFG biggrin.gif .

"Because THEY can, and I want" cool.gif
Vampicmage
No no no no, you guys have it ALL wrong, Richard is a spoof from the Series Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind.
Richard is the main character..he has atleast 8 diffrent titiles! the undead richard from lfgcomic is just the comedy basis of the story line, EVERY good writer has one, like William Shakespear. he always has and equivalent to the danger, the drama, the action...which is comic relief..the undead Richard is this..Lord ashendale may be something else. He clearly hates his past, human self. Which is why he reacted soooo violently towards it. Richard the main character in Sword of Truth. literaly has a sword called the sword of truth. it grants anger. Hence this page... http://www.lfgcomic.com/page/15
good ideas though keep it up biggrin.gif
