Captain Bighead
I did a search for this topic and I found none so I made this one.

I'm so friggin excited for the new Indiana Jones movie and I was curious as to whether or not anyone else on this forum shares my excitement? I mean, the same actor for Indy AND Marion! HOLY CRAP!
Grym
It looks great, I just hope it isn't ruined.

Why exactly do we "DIE" if we choose Temple of Doom? huh.gif
MantaLord
I chose all three. wink.gif

Most definately the last crusade. Was on tv, and I was just as entertained by it as I was when I first saw it, years and years ago now.

Because even Spielberg didn't like Temple of Doom. He said it was one of the owrst movies he's ever made, and the only good thing about it was that he met his wife.

And you wanna know the best thing about working at a movie theater? EARLY SCREENINGS! I just got out of the movie. OMG! I WAS SO HAPPY!

I'm assuming good then? After all this time I've been full of worries that spielberg would manage to fluff it somehow, but after the reception it got at caan those worries have diminished somewhat.

And Harrison Ford hated the character he played in the Star Wars movies. Where do you think he would be today if he had never played Han Solo? Definately not doing a 4th Indiana Jones movie.

Speaking of sequals, I was told last night that they are making a Jurasic Park 4 (I thought they beat that horse enough).

They are also filming T4 right outside the gates of the military base I am working on.
reader
well they did leave a bunch of stuff out of the movies that were in the books (jurassic park) but not enough to where they could make another movie

and yes i am quite excited to see the new indiana jones movie!!

i saw the previews for it when i watched iron man and im soooooo excited
Kerrah
Temple of Doom didn't feel like an Indiana Jones movie to me since I saw it after the other two. It felt like a hybrid between James Bond and Indiana Jones.

Anyways, I voted Crusade. Nothing beats Sean Connery.

I'm going to see the new one in 47 hours.

It's a temple of doom. What else do you do at doom temples? Worship Jesus?

I don't care about whether Spielberg liked it. I enjoyed it.

They actually recycled a bit from the first book into the second movie.
Metalcommand
Raiders of the Lost Ark is absolutely the best.....I love the Last Crusade, but Raiders of the Lost Ark is just classic...the beginning alone is epic enough to own all movies together laugh.gif

yeah i know

they took a bunch from the first book and put it in the third movie too

i didnt like how they kept people alive in the movies that were eaten in the books

back on-topic:

the beginning of raiders is quite awesome. i will have to agree with you there
viper2003923
i chose last crusade due to the mythology surrounding the holy grail, yeah i know that doesn't seem like a good reason, but im a big history nut, both real and unknown......

i dont remember

i only saw the 2nd movie once laugh.gif

but in the books he died in the first one. the compys got him happy.gif
viper2003923
you mean malcolm? no he survived all three movies i think, the one who got ate by the compys in the third one was the little girl........
Captain Bighead
... ON topic tongue.gif

I just hated Temple of Doom. It didn't feel like Indiana Jones, and it was less awesome. I barely consider it one of my favorite movies. Shorty totaly MADE that movie.

Last Crusade was totaly my favorite. There was more puzzlin' and decryptin', as well as the humor of Connery and Ford's chemistry on set. It was awesome. Lost Ark was great too, but I prefered Last Crusade.

I think it's rather intense that Marion Ravenwood and Indiana Jones are played by the smae actors, it's awesome! I wonder if they'll have Marcus Brody? That'd be friggin sweet if the dude was still alive and they put him in the movie, even if only for a few minuites.
Grym
I still enjoyed Temple of Doom. I don't care how little repetition there is in it.

no, they're talking about Hamond, the old guy who owned Jurrasic park. at the end of the book the kids were playing around with the sound system, making it sound like a T-rex was still on the loose. he spazzed out, fell down a gully, and got eaten by compys.
oh, and the little girl in the 2nd movie should have been in the first, because that was one of the clues the dinosaurs had gotten off the island. she didnt die though, they just nibbled on her arm a bit.

i rather like jurrasic park >.>

ANYWAY
MWAHAHAHAHA i get to see the midnight showing of Indiana Jones!! i was telling my parents how one of my friends is gonna see it at midnight, and my stepmom was like "theres gonna be a midnight showing?!" (all excited-like) and im like "Chea!!" so my stepmom and i are gonna see it biggrin.gif

I'm seeing the 7:00 showing (FIRST ONE IN MY HOME TOWN)

Meaning.... TWENTY FOUR HOURS AND 17 MINUTES TO GO!
WHOO!

I sometimes get excited over movies, but you guys go too far.

Last Crusade was my favorite, but I enjoyed the other two very much.

haven't yet seen Crystal Skull, but I really want to! Maybe this weekend. smile.gif
silvamord
I freaking LOVE Indy!

Put it this way. When everyone else wanted to shag Indiana Jones, I wanted to BE the female equivalent to Indiana Jones. Have stockman's whip, an akubra and everything, haha.

Cannot wait to see it. And imo, Last Crusade was by far the best out of the three. Although Lost Ark was brilliant for a laugh smile.gif And cannot, CANNOT, wait to play Lego Indiana Jones on the Wii. My lovely partner will be heading home with it tonight... If it's anywhere as awesome as Lego Star Wars though, my poor head will explode..
JacobChulainn
Don't trust the Sci-Fi special on the Crystal Skulls as an authentic documentary however, sci-fi has a habit of releasing fake documentaries. Such as their publicity stunt for M. Night Shyamalan.

Looking forward to the movie, even though George Lucas did borrow the idea for Indiana Jones from the much older Charlton Heston film Secret of the Incas. Which is worth watching if you're an Indiana Jones fan.
Aeriosa
just got back from the movie. it was fan-fucking-tastic.

i now i go to sleep.
Kerrah
I just returned too. The 50s nostalgia and... The Fonzie, were awesome, as well as the battle scenes, Ford's acting, the cameos and in-jokes, the other jokes....

Let's just file everything under "awesome". Except the Spielberg-ending. That was annoying.

i thought they ate her because the compys covered her, and i think that'd be awesome if they could really do that though you know? revive dinosaurs.....
MrEasterband
Ok. I just got the three movies with the mail, and I have watched them all in a row to compare them with each other.

I liked them all except for the Temple of Doom... There were just too many elements that destroyed it.
So the choice was now between Raiders of the Lost Ark or Last Crusade. Raiders had the action and the awesome opening while the Crusade had the humour and Sean Connery. But when it came down to it all the Raiders came out on top, mainly because of one key element... THAT GUYS HEAD FREAKEN MELTED!

As for the new movie... I will go see it tomorrow... So it will probably happen on Sunday...
Grym
KotCS lived up to every scrap of hype it could find, and then some. Fucking awsome movie. Go see it.

Now.
Kerrah
Now indeed.
Gelynn
saw it two days ago on my birthday!!!! laugh.gif best film of the year. To say anything about it would spoil it..
Captain Bighead
IT WAS UBER! I saw the ifrst showing in my hometown and it was grand! I loved the VERY last scene before the credits, but didn't like... never mind. I won't spoil it. It's DEFINATELY amazing
Ghislord
I didn't like it.

The first three movies were awesome, don't get me wrong. But this one was... not. The storry sucked balls, the action was decent at times, the CG badly done, the decors were just as crappy at times, the action even less believable than the stunts in die hard 4 and the ending wand botched and hurried in.

So, no, I did not like it. Thankfully, there<s still Batman ...
MrEasterband
Ok, I just came from the theater. And it was only two days ago that I was the three others in a row.

As an action movie it was pertty corny and it didn't really feel like an Indiana Jones movie, just some corny treasure hunt movie that they had thrown in Indy, as though his age, Harrison Ford made a pertty good performance when he portraited Indiana Jones (hopefully) one last time.

But I just saw the movie as entertaining, so I got something for my money. To sum it up: Corny, Entertaining and Worth Watching.
In my opinion it lands somewhere between The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, where as I still think that Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best movie of the Indiana Jones series (mainly because of the melting head, you just can't hate that effect).

No... The old ones were -not- corny. They told a story as Indiana Jones hunted for a secret object that he could put in a museum, and they always ended with Indiana getting nothing but insight of what's really important. But this movie... it was just corny.

The only good Indiana Jones movies are the ones where he fights Nazis...
Grym
What do you mean? It was hugely like the other films, except the insight was gained by Mut rather than Indy.
MrEasterband
There is a difference between insight and realization, like I'm not going to spoil anything here because everyone reads these anyway...
Grym
Psh. Way to go all Lord Shojo on me.
Copenhagan
I saw the movie on Saturday and I thought it was bloody awesome. Was it as the older movies I would have to say no but then sequels rarely are as good. I thought it was what it said it would be a kind of cheesy action movie and it was. My favorite movie was the Last Crusade but it has been a number of years since I watched them all. I now have to go buy them. hehe
MonaBeer
chosen: last Crusade..
I just saw the new Indy movie^^*loved it!*

but the Last Crusade is a beautiful movie!
i love the storyline of that movie^^
Rogarth
I was a huge fan of Indy ever since I saw the Lost Ark when I was only ten. To see Harrison Ford go at it again one last time made me freakin' happy as Richard in an orphanage. I loved the first three to equal degrees, but for different reasons:

Lost Ark for its pure awsome action.

Temple of Doom for its drama, and also short-round(it's a funny name).

Last Crusade for its comedy between Indy and his father.
Radiant
Option 4: Fate of Atlantis. Packs 3 stories made of win and awesome and an absolutely kickass final location.
Verbose
This was just like Die Hard 4, Rocky Balboa and the next few old-man franchises that will come out. They're selling nostalgia except the thing about nostalgia is that it holds up better when it's not watched again.

I actually enjoyed the movie. There were no real surprises, the ending was ridiculous and most of the throwbacks to the older films were a bit half-assed but it was fun. Plus, it didn't hurt my brain like the portrayal of the internet seen in Die Hard 4.
MrEasterband
Speaking of that... They are going to start making a Beverly Hills Cop 4 with Eddie Murphy... How many think that they are going to be disappointed?
Verbose
That depends.

If you liked numbers two and three, you're probably in for a treat.
Grym
Here's a review I agree with of the fourth.
