First off, hey guys, I'm an fan of LFG comic, check in at least once a day for updates yada yada yada, etc etc.

I never registered for a forums account until I saw something on Page 115 (while rereading the entire series) that got me thinking (If there's already a topic about it, I didn't see it)

Anywho, when the Phares are talking to Richard (shortly before he punches the shark), they say 'You are powerful. Yet there is something else. Another presence behind the darkness"

This got me thinking, what could they be refrencing? Another side of his personality? Another sentient 'soul' residing in his body?

It's been explained a million billion gazillion times that the part about a lord of darkness enslaving the dragons was made up by Richard on the spot for his own amusement. If you look at it a little closer, you will notice those particular "story bubbles" have Richard's red lining.

edit: And in case anyone says "well Richard could have been telling the truth", here are the reasons he was not:

1) Krunch immediately says "don't interrupt the tale", meaning that such an event did not take place in his knowledge.
2) It doesn't make sense storywise, since the dragons are definitely not Richard's slaves in any place or time during the comic.

Oh, many mysteries abound about Richard.

Like him recognizing the arch-mage... Or the phares telling him about the other presence...

Yet, the other presence may easily be that Monk's soul he once ate.

And the cowl thing. Don't forget the cowl thing.

It's a good thing we all know his true origins though.

*headdesk* Of course! Why have I not thought of it!?

Prolly because it was mentioned so long ago I forgot about it, hehe. But, if this was true it'd be a marvelous example of the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid) and I therefore like the idea.

I stand by Bunny Love.

I side with that, for the simple reason of
"It's funny and random"

Nothing's more fun than a pathological,bloodthirsty
homodicical maniac that's also a closet luffer of bunnies.
Gerfodger
doesnt richard say he kill bunnies in slaughter your world?
I think its just the one, as he was his mighty steed at one point
Also, the whole richard=archmage thing fits in perfectly here.

Richard said that the lord of darkness "smote the dragon king and freed the humans, only to enslave them again at a later date". The "again" after "enslave" shows that he spoke about humans. The Lord of Darkness freed the humans to enslave them himselfs, Richard said nothing about enslaving dragons, so obviously they aren't Richards slaves, independent of the truth of his story.

And it could be that Richard just told the story to fast for Krunch's taste, or skiped some parts of it. He still could have been telling the truth, as well as making it up entirely.

Anyways, I don't think Richard would be the "Lord of Darkness". It's just TOO obvious. Besides, in that case, there would be just more darknes behind the darkness, and I doubt the phares would bother to mention that.

I always thought he recognized him because he had actually met him before... when he was in his Beholder form.

And we will call it: Darkerness.
